General admission is free on Mondays and Tuesdays in January and February. Home
to over 30,000 animals that swim and crawl, slither and fly, Shedd Aquarium

Whirl and twirl your way through Millennium Park at the free Chicago Winter Dance. The park will come alive with free events and programs on the ice and onstage, all month long. The largest auto show in North America, the Chicago Auto Show is held at McCormick Place complex. held at the Decatur Conference Center & Hotel. Hundreds of folks come from all

WESTERN

Grab your snow boards and skis for a getaway full of winter adventure. With 28 acres of skiable terrain, all levels of skiers and snowboarders will find runs to suit their skills. Snowboarders can take it to the next level at the Terrain Park, and non-skiers or snowboarders can get their thrills at the Stargazer Tubing Hill with five lanes and a 68-foot vertical drop.

Each year, up to 2,500 Bald Eagles make the trees and bluffs along the Mississippi River their winter roosting grounds, as the water stays free of ice on this portion of the river. The Quad Cities celebrates these transient residents each year with a series of events, tours and eagle watching opportunities.

SOUTHWEST

|
|
|
The limestone bluffs and woodlands that line the Mississippi River Valley offer the American Bald Eagle an ideal winter roosting site. Come view these magnificent birds in their natural habitat on a day-long adventure of eagle and wildlife spotting with Bluff City Tours.

Take a trip out to Mason Hollow in Grafton and see how maple trees are tapped and how sap is collected and then cooked down to syrup. Mason Hollow is the only public maple syrup sugarbush in the Alton region. Sap runs are totally dependent on Mother Nature. Freezing nights and warm days are needed for the sap to be running at its best.

See a bald eagle up close at the visitor center and then take a guided tour to visit an active bald eagle nest, and other areas around the refuge where this threatened species can be found.
