Nouveau Wine Weekend
Downtown Galena comes alive with the release of Galena Cellars Vineyard and Winery's Nouveau Wine. A traditional French stew, paired with Nouveau wine is served at most local restaurants, followed by horse-drawn wagon deliveries down Main Street. Take your choice of various downtown locations for one of the afternoon wine and cheese parties or plan to celebrate with all of them.
Music Under the Stars

Great Galena Balloon Race
A spectacular three-day event with more than 20 hot air balloons. Observe the balloons taking flight in two balloon races and lighting up the night with glow extravaganzas. Stroll through a car show, enjoy live music, and participate in activities for the whole family. The Friday night Alefest boasts more than two hundred varieties of Ales and spirits.

Galena Wine Lovers' Weekend
At the heart of the weekend, the Grand Tasting and Wine Auction offer more than 300 varieties of hand-picked wines and spirits from which to sample. The Grand Tasting held on both Friday and Saturday night includes a commemorative wine glass and hors d'oeuvres. Enjoy wine dinners, wine, spirit and beer tastings, cooking demonstrations, local winery tours and brunches all weekend.
Aquin Flea Market
The Aquin Flea Market has been the treasure hunters' favorite for many years. This large indoor flea market is filled with antiques, collectibles, crafts, and books. Open the first Sunday of the month January thru May, and October thru December. The dates for fall of 2013 are Nov 3, Dec 1, 2014 dates are Jan 5, Feb 2, March 2, April 6 and May 4.

45th Annual Threshing Show and Antique Show
The Stephenson County Antique Engine Club proudly presents this annual event, "The Freeport Show". It offers over 300 antique steam and horse-powered engines and equipment, and gas engines. This year's feature is Allis-Chalmers. There will be a huge parade daily at 1 pm, a large flea market, a large display building offering home antiques, crafts, demonstrations, and farm miniatures, Gasoline Alley featuring The Rawleigh gas engines, sawmill, and blacksmith shop. There will be threshing demonstrations with both steam and gas tractors, and working demonstrations throughout the show grounds. also ride the Silver Creek and Stephenson Railroad antique steam train. Great food is offered. Don't miss the Farmer's Hitch Class Horse Pull or the Midwest Championship Antique Tractor Pull.
Lena Lions Fall Festival
This fall fest features carnival rides, games, food, a 5K run hosted by the Lena Park District, a parade on Saturday at noon, a pork chop BBQ, raffle drawings for a car and a 4 wheeler at 10pm on Saturday, musical entertainment, an antique tractor display, firemen water fights and much more. All aboard as a 36-ton 1912 Heisler steam locomotive pulls three cabooses for a four-mile ride through farmlands. Purchase your ticket at the Silver Creek Depot, a turn-of-the-century replica filled with railroad artifacts, and browse the Freight House Gift Shop and Silvercreek Museum. Weather permitting, there will be fall harvest demonstrations with horses and tractors. The museum will feature sauerkraut, brats, hot dogs, chili and dessert. Cedarville Summer Celebration
The 9th annual Cedarville Summer Celebration is a collaborative effort by the Village of Cedarville, Cedarville Lions Club and RAMP. There will be free hot dogs, chips and soda starting a 5 pm. There will be demonstrations by Cedarville Fire Department, games for kids, a vendor market, pillow bingo and Cake-n-roll with all proceeds to benefit RAMP services. There is no charge to attend the event, but there will be charges for individual games.

Winneshiek Playhouse Presents: "Lend Me A Tenor"
It's 1934, and the world's greatest tenor, Tito Merelli, has come to Cleveland, Ohio, to save its Grand Opera Company by singing Otello. When he is unexpectedly incapacitated, Max, the Opera Director's meek assistant, is given the daunting task of finding a last-minute replacement. Chaos ensues - including a scheming soprano, a tenor-struck ingenue, a jealous wife and the Cleveland Police department. May 9,10 and 15-17. 7:30 pm. $15.

Gardens United Garden Walk
Some of the finest gardens in the Freeport area are opened for touring. The gardeners generously present their creative efforts for the pleasure of the public. Walk through the gardens and enjoy the colorful scenery. Plus a silent auction and a large variety of garden art items will be offered at one garden. Gardeners will be on site to answer questions and to talk about plants and their gardens. Master Gardeners will also be available to advise on garden questions. Classic Film Series: Hollywood and World War II
Highland Community College and the Stephenson County Historical Society partner with the Lindo Theatre to present this film series featuring World War II movies. There will be a brief introduction before each movie and a discussion led by Ed Finch, Director of the Historical Society, and Alan Wenzel, Speech and Communications Instructor at the College, following the movie. The featured movies are: January 8: "Casablanca" 1943; February 5: "30 Seconds Over Tokyo" 1944; March 5: "Run Silent Run Deep" 1955; April 2: "Pride of the Marines" 1945. As a bonus feature for buying a series ticket, the classic 1943 musical, "Hollywood Canteen" will be shown on April 30. There will be a 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm showing for each movie. This event features antique two cylinder and new generation tractors plus old time machinery, food, converation, and good fun. Come visit with the owners of these tractors and learn why they love these machines. Food, conversation, crafts, and a good time for all ages.
Northwest Illinois Annual Gourd Festival
Gourds extraordinaire! Who knew what a gourd could do? Gourd vendors, growers and artists come together for this special showing, as well as demonstrations and classes. There will be live music, food and beverages. 20th Annual Historic Cemetery Walk
Follow a guide through one of Galena's oldest cemeteries while costumed re-enactors bring to life some of the most interesting residents in this historic cemetery. Being portrayed this year are various notable Galenians. The last portion of the presentation will be titled “The Widows of Galena” and will highlight the lives of four Galena widows as they discuss the social conventions and attitudes of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Mighty Richland Players Dessert Theater "Opal's Million Dollar Duck"
While rooting through Opal's Antique Junque Shop, two summer stock leads come across a painting that looks a lot like an old master that disappeared from the local art museum. In order to collect the insurance themselves, the divas, Desmond and Queenie, try to acquire the painting from Opal, who has other plans for the painting. The plot thickens hilariously when the two stars resort to everything from outrageous flattery to knockout drops trying to get their hands on the picture.
