Kankakee County Fair
Let's spend a day at the fair. Go to the time-honored livestock shows, play some games, enter contests, enjoy the exciting live entertainment, be brave and ride on the carnival rides, or feast on the fair food; but don't forget to see the demolition derby or rodeo.
Guardian Angel Bassett Bash & Waddle
Join in for two days of fun, friends and fundraising to help our favorite four-legged friends. This event, held at the Guardian Angel Basset Rescue Park in Dwight, will raise money for the Guardian Angel Basset Rescue to help Basset Hounds in need of a home. The 'Largest Basset gathering in the World' includes a picnic, 'bassetball' and waddle. A weekend filled with Bassett’s, games, contests, entertainment & the huge finale of the Bassett Waddle with hundreds of Bassett’s leading off the Harvest Day’s Parade.
This is a 3 day extravaganza of wild entertainment such as Local H, Puddle of MUDD on Thursday, Salt-n-Pepa and Vanilla Ice on Friday. As well as RaeLynn, Josh Thompson and Aaron Tippin on Saturday. But lets not forget, included in this event will be a carnival car, truck & motorcycle show, BBQ competition, bean bag competition and much more!
Kankakee River Fishing Derby
Come out for the Annual Kankakee River Valley Fishing Derby! The Kankakee is a clean river that is a popular destination for recreational canoeing and fishing for warm-water species such as smallmouth bass, channel catfish, walleye and northern pike. Our fishing derby is a ten-day event providing exciting fun for the whole family and cash prizes are awarded for tagged fish.
Dwight Harvest Days
Downtown Dwight is the place to be for crafts, flea markets, carnival and kids games, downtown stage full of entertainment, car show, 5K run, parade and band competition are highlights of the weekend, attracting over 10,000 people each year! Sunday's parade is led by hundreds of basset hounds and their owners from around the world.
Merchant Street Music Festival
Merchant Street MusicFest brings together an eclectic range of music, artists, food and people to celebrate diversity throughout the community. Merchant Street MusicFest is a FREE two-day music and arts festival at the historic downtown train depot located at 199 South East Avenue in Kankakee, IL. The event is a community celebration featuring local, regional, and national musical talent on 3 stages, fine and folk art vendors and great food and drink. Tempt your tastebuds with our local food vendors' best offerings or just sit back with a cold one and let the melodic sounds wash over you.
Cruise Nights in Morris
Years ago there was a tradition in Morris called "Buzzing the Gut", a simple way of saying cruising Liberty Street. Morris is bringing that tradition back to downtown. Any Classic car owners are invited to participate. For a minimal registration fee of $10.00, car owners can display their cars on Liberty Street starting at 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Entry closes at 8:00 p.m. No rain dates. The public is invited to walk around and enjoy these classic cars at no cost! Proceeds go to Grundy Community Hospice. Second Saturdays through October 10.
Grundy County Corn Festival
67th annual Grundy County Corn Festival will be held September 23-27, 2015. The event celebrates the rich agricultural history in Grundy County and offers everything from a farm fair, craft shows, carnival, music and food, food, food. Entertainment of all kinds, food vendors, water fights and a parade on Sunday.
City of Morris Concerts on the Courthouse Lawn
The Neverly Brothers kick off the 2015 season! Join this popular event every other Thursday this summer for a concert on the Grundy County Courthouse Lawn. Every concert will feature a different performance from the area. Admission is free! Season runs from June 4 through August 13.
Taste of Dwight
Held in Renfrew Park, member businesses may set up displays showcasing their business. Local restaurants also are set up selling food from their establishments. Entertainment and children's games also.
4th of July Weekend Kayak Tour & Beach Glampout
Camp out on the wooded, sandy beaches of the Illinois River. A potluck dinner on the beach will be followed by a movie, via a pico projector under the stars. There will be campfires on the beach to enjoy! This event is perfect for the first time camper! A full hot breakfast will be served in the morning before setting out on a guided kayak tour for approx. 2 hours. This trip will explore either the Mazon River or the Illinois River and the wildlife along the way!

18th Annual Prairie Day
The Annual Prairie Day is a celebration of the prairie environment held in conjunction with National Prairie Week at Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area. Presentations on the environment and nature play a very important part of the day's activities as well as highlighting on the special features of the park itself. Various presentations, educational talks, and projects for children are the special offerings of the day. All special amenities of the park are open including the Cragg Cabin, the Visitors Center, butterfly barn, nature trails with wagon rides and etc.

Marseilles Fun Days
This is a week long summer family festival celebration. Marseilles Fun Days Committee decided to bring the festival back centered around one of the city's premier annual events, The Marseilles Fireman's Car Cruise. The cruise will be part of a busy Saturday, July 18. Fun Days itself will take place Monday, July 13, through Sunday, July 19.
