Halloween fun awaits families at Brookfield Zoo’s annual Boo! at the Zoo celebration. The popular daytime event, presented by Fisher-Price, features a Costume Parade, Costume Showcase, professional pumpkin-carving demonstrations, not-so-scary games and activities, special animal Zoo Chats, and haunted hayrides. Holly Days, sponsored by the Warrenville Park District is the City's annual holiday celebration that marks Santa's official entry into Warrenville. Guests can enjoy a warm bonfire, raffles, free horse and carriage rides, hot cider and cookies, and, of course, a visit with Santa. Local Park District and school dance troops, singers, and bands entertain attendees during the event. It is at this event that Warrenville officially turns on its holiday lights creating an array of colors for passersby along Route 56 to see. Holly Days, primarily for Warrenville residents, gives the community an opportunity to come together and kick off the holiday season.
One of the largest free outdoor holiday light displays in Northern Illinois, the Festival of Lights, returns with dazzling displays that will delight both adults and children. This signature winter event is a drive-through of more than one mile of spectacular lighted displays, many of which are animated, and are illuminated by tens of thousands of bulbs. Staged at Aurora's gem, Phillips Park, the festival will be open from 5 - 9 pm Sunday through Thursday and 5 - 10 pm Friday and Saturday.

The parade and tree lighting are followed by a grand fireworks display along the banks of the Fox River. Holiday Pop-up Shops featuring music, art, gifts and good things to eat can be enjoyed at Water Street Mall (behind City Hall) 5 - 9 pm. After the fireworks, follow Santa and Mrs. Claus to Riverfront Playhouse where Santa will be on stage listening to Christmas wishes. As a bonus, Mrs. Claus will have special treats for those who have been good all year. Come and make Winter Lights a memory-filled family tradition!

BatFest is Batavia's annual Halloween themed family event attracting over 2,500 ghouls. Includes downtown Trick-or-Treating, Mothers' Club Parade, pumpkin roll, contests, BatArt and games for free family fun. Before the festival, join Batavia United Way for their BatFest 5K walk/run and 10K Run along the Fox River Trail.

Enjoy old-fashioned family fun at Lyon Farm’s annual Fall Festival the last weekend in September. Children are welcome to participate in fun games such as Candy-in-the-Straw, make homemade butter and take a tractor-pulled barrel ride throughout the farm. Free hayrides all weekend. Make a scarecrow! Activities both days include farm demonstrations, antique farm equipment, tractors, trucks, small engines, log sawing, corn cob grinding and blacksmithing. Watch a threshing demonstration powered by the farm’s 1921 steam engine on Saturday. Listen to old-fashioned bluegrass music live and browse the antique car show on Sunday. The buildings on the grounds will be open for families to tour at their own leisure.
