Jersey County Fair
Food, merchandise, vendors and more. A week-long annual county fair offering rare glimpses of livestock, agriculture competitions mixed with nightly entertainment. Don't miss the ITPA tractor and truck pulls, "Almost Kiss" concert, demolition derby, Queen competitions and so much more. General admission is $2 per person, children under 13 free. Separate pricing for grandstand events.
Old Settlers Days
Calhoun County was a wild rugged land, and its fall re-enactment festival embraces its past history. Old time crafts, mountain-man activities, black powder shooting, historic demonstrations, food, music, fiddlers jamboree, carriage rides and a petting zoo round out the activities scheduled for the weekend. Chairs on Parade
Chairs on Parade is an event where Carlinville businesses purchases a chair and decorates it to their liking. The event is all about bringing old fashioned fun, family and shopping together while supporting the local business community. The chairs will be on display outside of the businesses beginning on Saturday, August 6th. Part of the event includes the first ever Carlinville Restaurant Week from Monday, August 22nd through Sunday, August 28th, celebrating local food establishments and retail stores. The highlight of that week will occur on Friday, August 26th with a flotilla parade and afterwards an auction for chairs that are donated back to Shop Local First. The profit from the chairs will go to the local food bank. The night will also include Mid-West Largest Squirt Gun fight, and a street party with Captain Geech & The Shrimp Shack Shooters rock band.
Roodhouse Sesquicentennial Celebration
Come celebrate 150 years of food, family and fun in Roodhouse! Festivities include the "There Is No Place Like Home" parade, car show, youth day, heath fair, demonstrators and craft vendors, quilt show, amusement rides, little miss pageant, historical museum, beer tent, BINGO games, historical play, and community church service. Plenty of food vendors and two stages of free entertainment daily. Free parking and free admission.
Tri-County Olden Days
Come out and enjoy a family oriented event that has something for everyone in Dow, Illinois! A steam, gas and threshing show will feature antique tractors, engines and heritage demonstrations, along with an antique tractor pull. There will be live entertainment both days, with Cowboy Church on Sunday. Shop the large craft & flea market and enjoy lots of good "old-fashioned" food. Admission is $5 per person. Children 12 and under are free.
Jersey County Historic Society's Annual Apple Fest
Enjoy this year's Jersey County Historic Society's Annual Apple Fest. Throughout the day, visitors can browse craft booths, demonstrations, quilt raffle, kettle corn and children's games. Pioneer stew, ham & beans with cornbread, and sweet treats will be sold throughout the day. Historic tours of the Cheney Mansion, Log House and Lone Star School are $5 for adults; free for children 6 and under. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the day. All other events are free.
