Haunted Decatur Ghost Tour
Travel throughout the city of Decatur in search of history, hauntings, crime scenes, scandals and spirits! Join us for a journey back into the history of one of America's most haunted towns and discover not only our favorite haunted places, but new locations of crime, infamy and spirits that have never been featured on the tours before. Re-invented in 2009, experience Haunted Decatur in a way that you've never done before! Popular with ghost buffs and history enthusiasts alike and includes new and favorite haunted locations! Lasts approximately 3 hours. $30 per person.
Touchstone Energy Balloon Fest
Come and enjoy watching as these balloons are filled and then take off for various areas. Friday night is a launch from Dam West Recreation Area (9th St), Saturday morning, they will launch from various locations and try to hit their targets as they float through the air . There will be a Balloon glow and basket burn at the Shelby County Airport Saturday night with food and entertainment. You can meet the pilots on Friday evening. Sunday morning will be another opportunity to watch. These colorful balloons will be launched daily (weather permitting) and you can watch as they fly and do tasks around the Lake Shelbyville area.
Findlay Walleye Festival
This yearly festival has plenty of entertainment, food and fun. The Walleye is a feature for the festival with the fish being served daily. There will be plenty of entertainment (bands), an ice cream social, fireworks on Friday (which will be moved to Saturday if there is rain), kids games, a farmer's market, tractor pull, car, truck, & motorcycle show, a 5K event and plenty more. A large parade starts at 10am on Saturday and there will be plenty of kids activities and games both days.
12th Annual Spores N More Mushroom Festival
Come and enjoy the thrill of the hunt for the elusive morel mushroom or come and bid at the auction. Friday night kicks off the event with a welcome dinner, reception and speaker in Windsor. Saturday morning, come and join the hunt for a fee. If you like morels but not the hunt, come to the auction and bid for your winning batch. The 2015 hunt and auction will be based out of Shelbyville's Forest Park.
Windsor Harvest Picnic
Come and enjoy this family-friendly festival which is in its 118th year. Entertainment comes to you in gospel, country and rock, with entertainers from as far away as Australia.. Fountain City Amusements provides a carnival atmosphere with plenty of food as well as the Ice Cream Social. There is also a 5K run/walk, a pedal tractor pull, parade, and a raffle drawing. This year for one show only is Country Legend Marty Stuart.
Scarecrow Daze Festival
During the Annual Scarecrow Daze Festival, the entire city of Shelbyville is decorated with scarecrows. With a different theme every year, entrants decorate their homes and businesses to the theme. There is also a large parade on Saturday, kids' games, a beer tent, music, a quilt show, and plenty of food and crafts, in downtown Shelbyville. Held in conjunction with Touchstone Energy Balloon Fest.
Shelbyville Festival of Lights
Come to Shelbyville and take a drive through Forest Park as it is lit up for the Holiday season. These lights are put in place each year by volunteers and new lights and themed areas are also added. Candy Cane lane is to honor loved ones. Come enjoy the Victorian Village, Santa's Shop, the North Pole, Bethlehem, and others.
Tower Hill Fall Festival
Held in the Village Park. This is the 29th year for the festival which has unique activities such as the Produce "500" which features vehicles made from produce from as small as a grape to as large as a watermelon. It also has a car and motorcycle show, garden tractor pulls, a tractor show, plenty of kids games a parade Saturday at 4:00 pm and entertainment along with the annual demo derby on Sunday.
Moweaqua Pow Wow Days
Come and enjoy this family-friendly festival with plenty of food, entertainment, and vendors everyday with a parade on Saturday. All of the events at the festival are located in the downtown park.
Arthur Amish Country Cheese Festival
This 3-day outdoor family street festival features 75-80 craft and food vendors, live entertainment all three days, a ceremonial cutting of a 300 pound wheel of cheese, 700 pounds of cheese given away, a 60 foot sub sandwich given away, antique tractor show, kiddie tractor pull, camel rides, stagecoach rides, buggy rides. Also a parade on Monday, and a kid-zone with games, inflatables, pony rides, rock climbing wall, 5K/10K run, car show and much more.
Arthur Amish Country Christmas Kickoff
The Christmas lighted parade steps off at 5:30pm and will showcase Santa & Mrs. Claus through downtown Arthur. Immediately following the parade, Santa will visit with children and parents in Knights Court downtown to start collecting those early Christmas requests. Complimentary hot chocolate and cookies will be served during his visit. Throughout the day, businesses in the downtown area as well as the countryside will feature early Christmas bargains and host Open Houses.
Strawberry Jam Festival
A festival of strawberry-related activities and events. This includes special sales promotions throughout the Arthur area. A strawberry social is held in conjunction at the Otto Center south of town. Strawberries are available for purchase and there will be limited giveaways during the festival. Lots of entertainment and activities, including the bands Battle Creek, Gunny Sack Revue and Deep Water.
Bagelfest is a 29 year old festival in Mattoon that began on the idea of hospitality. When the Lender’s Bagel Factory moved to Mattoon, not everyone in town knew about bagels. So Murray Lender introduced his product to the community with a free bagel breakfast held in downtown Mattoon. And then a festival was born. Through many changes and additions now the festival is more than three days of activities including three nights of nationally known musicians, carnival, food and craft vendors, dog show and baby contest and of course there is still a free bagel breakfast to celebrate the hospitality and generosity of Murray Lender.
Shelby County 4H & Jr. Fair
One of only a few fairs that still highlight their 4H and Juniors. The fair includes dog care and obedience, judging in livestock, poultry, rabbits, lambs, produce, flowers, plants, and many other subjects. The Food Shack serves plenty of great food each day of the fair manned by the various 4H Clubs in Shelby County. The fair wraps up with the popular livestock auction and team penning.
Arthur Area Freedom Celebration
The event kicks off with a parade followed by a gigantic fireworks display with an exceptional array of shells at Jurgens Park. The 500 ft. long Niagara Falls and the Wall of Fire are some of the crowd favorites. The finale and top crowd favorite is the Rural Patriot on his horse of freedom carrying the American Flag. Activities begin at 4pm and include powered parachute helicopters, WW2 aircraft and skydivers. Food and drink vendors and handicap parking available.
Mennonite Relief Sale
This two day auction features locally handcrafted furniture, quilts, and other handmade items. There will also be a children's auction and train ride. Bake sales and food vendors help round out the event. Proceeds from the two day event go to help those in need in the community and around the world.
Moultrie-Douglas County Fair
Enjoy a week of mud, beauty and entertainment. This year will feature tractor pulls, demo derby and mud racing. Along with beauty pageants, we will have live entertainment.
Annual Arthur Quilt Show & Quilt Auction
View the quilts, including the vendor area, and take in demonstrations as well. Lunch available. A double wedding ring quilt will be raffled. Quilt auction held April 26th at noon. Presented by Arthur Area Association of Commerce at the Otto Center.
Chet Kingery Memorial Bluegrass Festival
Musical line-up includes Larry Sparks, Jeff Brown and Still Lonesome, The Spinney Brothers, Mackville and Black Ridge Road. The combination of talent from award winning nationally known groups to local entertainment is sure to please all attendees. All the bands will perform a mixture of traditional and bluegrass/gospel music.
Beanstalk! The Musical

Driving Miss Daisy
