Victorian Christmas at Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio
The story of holidays in the Wright household unfolds during the Victorian Christmas Tour when Junior Interpreters, rained 5th-10th grade students, guide visitors through the home. The home will be decorated as it was when the Wright family lived there during the late 1800s and early 1900s. The free event, which is a holiday tradition at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, takes place 9-11am.

Spend the Holidays with the Hemingways on Boxing Day
Join the Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park in celebrating the Hemingway family's tradition of generosity on December 26th. In medieval times on the day after Christmas, nobles presented gifts to people who lived on their land. Their gifts, intended to welcome outsiders as family, were presented in boxes, hence the name of the dday. Traditional English music and food will entertain guests.

A new musical of this classic tale comes to life for children of all ages when Marie receives a beautiful nutcracker for Christmas from her mysterious Uncle Drosselmeyer. When the Nutcracker comes to life, it's a magical journey to reach the Sugar Plum Fairy before the wicked Mouse King. Children's Theatre takes place most Sundays through Saturdays at 10 AM. On select days, there is an additional performance at 12:30pm. Performance days and times do vary so please visit the calendar page for each show.
Christmas in Paris
Come to Paris, Illinois, on December 7th for an entire day of activities that will provide fun for the entire family. The Mistletoe Marketplace will be open from 10 am to 3 pm at 118 E. Court Street featuring 20 plus local vendors available to aid in all your holiday shopping needs. At 2 p.m., head to the Paris Theater, located at 119 N Central, for a free showing of "A Christmas Story." From 4 pm to 7 pm, the downtown area will be a host to many different free activities. The Nutcracker Ballet

Follow the path through “Kringle’s Kingdom” and gaze at more than 75 displays, many animated with characters larger than life. Meander along the path and stop to peak inside the display boxes, visit the unique collection of holiday displays arranged along a path and separated by groupings of lighted evergreen trees, witness a train chugging toward a frozen kingdom, skating bunnies, kissing bears, Christmas puppies and sugar plums dancing. Joy of Christmas Service
This beautiful Christmas service is one you won’t want to miss. It begins in Andover’s Augustana Lutheran Church and concludes by walking to candlelit Jenny Lind Chapel for communion. The service features special choral and instrumental music by Augustana College students and faculty. Refreshments follow the service at Augustana Church. Service begins at 7:30pm.
In 1992, something astonishing happened in the historic city of Woodstock, Illinois. People came to town and roped off the picturesque city square, moved all sorts of equipment into the park and started playing the Pennsylvania Polka, over and over and over again. They were filming a movie that has become a favorite of young and old for more than 20 years, and the city gathers each year to remember the fun and celebrate the special community that Woodstock has always been. There are events for everyone during this celebration: Groundhog trivia, free viewing of "Groundhog Day" at the movie theater, walking tours of the film sites, a Chili cook-off, a dinner and dance, bowling, bags tourney, and a pancake breakfast. The main event for Groundhog Day is the annual prognostication. Gather on the Woodstock Square to see Woodstock Willie emerge from his tree trunk home. If he sees his shadow, it means there will be 6 more weeks of winter and if he doesn’t see his shadow, it means we will have an early Spring.

Holiday LEGO Train Show
Cantigny Park’s popular LEGO® Train Show is a holiday tradition for many families. The show transforms the entire Cantigny Visitors Center into a virtual wonderland for LEGO® fans. Le Jardin, the Visitor Center’s restaurant and banquet room, is home to the primary LEGO® diorama where creative new elements are added each year. Secondary displays and a free craft activity occupy the building’s main gallery area and meeting room.
Andover Christmas Julotta
For 163 years this early morning (6:30 a.m.) service has been held at Augustana Lutheran Church. The service is held in a setting similar to that used by the Swedish congregation in 1870. The choir sings a Swedish anthem and the service is in English. Candles in the pews, altar and windows illuminate the sanctuary. Service begins at 6:30am.
Five Little Monkeys

Through wonderful costumes and acting, each of the frisky siblings displays their own unique style of mischief while driving Mama monkey crazy. Trace Adkins, The Christmas Show
The Christmas Show will be a reverent performance of stories and carols and will be a memorable experience for the whole family. Throughout The Christmas Show, Trace will alternate between fireside story-telling and performances of classic carols like “We Three Kings,” “Silent Night,” “Little Drummer Boy,” and more with his band, The Sarepta Gentlemen, a 12 piece ensemble, female vocalists, and a range of traditional instruments. If you like art and art for sale then be sure to take part in this traveling art party featuring local artists in numerous venues in the Downtown Rock Island Arts & Entertainment District. Victorian Christmas on the Woodstock Square
Not to be missed is Woodstock's Victorian Christmas celebration that begins each Thanksgiving weekend. The Square glows with thousands of miniature lights illuminating the buildings and trees for the annual Festival of Lights. Olde Tyme Christmas and Living History
Decorations and period music accompany reenactments of what 18th century life was like at Fort Massac. The park staff and local historical re-enactors will welcome guests to the visitors' center and museum, which will be festively decorated with items based on 17th and 18th century designs. Hot spiced tea will warm visitors as they sample cookies baked in the authentic period bake oven.

Belvidere Holiday Walk
Travel back in time for a glimpse of holidays in seasons past. Luminaries will light the way to our log cabins where pioneer families will be celebrating. They might even be serving holiday goodies! Stop by and share your holiday wishes with a Civil War era Santa. Enjoy freshly popped corn along the way and come inside the Nature Center to listen to the sound of music. Celebrate the Christmas season with a parade, horse-drawn carriage rides, food, crafts, music, storytellers, a petting zoo, and children's activities at the Apollo Theater and Fire House on State Street. Seasonal vendors and a Christmas tree display are featured at the Community Building Complex.
Christmas in the Village
Spend the day in downtown Cobden, where you can enjoy fresh-roasted nuts while listening to strolling Victorian carolers and madrigal players, take an old-fashioned horse-drawn surrey or wagon ride around the village, and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Feed Store, where handcrafted wreaths and gingerbread houses will be on display.
Illumination: Tree Lights at the Morton Arboretum
Come to The Morton Arboretum this holiday season to see trees in a different light! Tickets on sale now! Illumination will engage your senses with dazzling projections, trees that respond to your touch and sound, and vivid, electric colors throughout. This is an outdoor event on a one-mile, gently rolling, paved path that takes approximately one and one-half hours to complete. Please dress for the weather. Food and beverage concessions are available for purchase. Walking along the paved trail you can hug a tree to make it grow brighter, sing to a tree and watch it change color, interact with light and color with a swipe of your hand, and many more surprising experiences around every turn! Also, be sure to warm up next to fire pits while enjoying hot cocoa, s'mores, and other delights, visit the Enchanted Railroad and stop in to browse the holiday wares at The Arboretum Store, and enjoy energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly LED lighting that provides beautiful, powerful color while consuming only half the power of traditional incandescent lights. Avenue of Lights
Avenue of Lights is a two-mile holiday display of animated lights at Moorman/Wavering Park in Quincy. It runs from Thanksgiving until New Years, nightly from 6-9:30pm. A staple attraction of Quincy during the holiday season.

Holiday Lights at Bunker Hill
Historic buildings at Kennekuk County Park's "Bunker Hill Historic Area" will be lit for the occasion and decorated for the holidays. Continuing throughout the holiday season, the holiday lights will be displayed weekends from 5-8 p.m.
Du Quoin Annual Holiday Lights Fair
Starting the day after Thanksgiving and continuing through the month of December. Come experience Du Quoin Tourism’s transformation of the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds into a magical place with lights and decorations. The event features a 1 1/2-mile drive through over $250,000 worth of lighted displays as well as decorated trees, entertainment, food, crafts and visits with Santa in the Expo Hall. The light trail opens nightly from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m., and the Expo Hall will be open on the second and third weekends in December from 5:30 — 9:30 p.m. The Expo Hall features Santa’s train ride and Santa’s Workshop.

Christmas at the Mansions Tour
Christmas at the Mansions is a community-wide tour of the David Davis Mansion and two Mystery Houses in Bloomington-Normal. You'll see these gorgeous homes decorated in period Christmas finery. Take in the architecture, history, postcard scenes of decorated evergreen trees and Christmas wreaths, poinsettia plants, and even hosts dressed in period costumes, as you walk back in time to the late 1800's and early 1900's. Music and other surprises will complement your tour! Three hour tours are scheduled for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Central parking and shuttle service is available at the David Davis Mansion or Second Presbyterian Church (313 N. East Street, Bloomington, Illinois).

Throughout the Kankakee County Museum, Christmas trees are decorated by community organizations. Yearly, a special theme is added for your enjoyment. Come in and view the different arrangements and vote for that special tree.

Christmas at Clover Lawn
The David Davis Mansion's annual holiday celebration, Christmas at Clover Lawn, runs from November 28 through December 29th. Tours are offered Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Tours are free, but donations are welcome. Create holiday memories with your family by visiting the David Davis Mansion, all decked out for the holidays. Antique dolls and toys, spectacular evergreens, more than 15 decorated trees, and hundreds of 19th-century paper and glass ornaments turn the house and grounds into a Yuletide wonderland.
Grafton Holiday Riverwalk
Celebrate the start of the holiday season in Grafton. Stop in the various businesses along Main Street and near the riverfront for special promotions, discounts, refreshments and entertainment. The Jerseyville High School choir will be caroling throughout the town. Visitors will also be able to tour the various B&Bs and guest houses in town, a perfect opportunity to check out the accommodations and purchase a gift certificate as a gift. The festivities will conclude with a Show Choir performance at the Grove Memorial Park Gazebo as we light up the town!
Begin your holiday celebration escaping from the chaos of the season and experiencing the enchantment of Christmas at the "Christmas Wonderland" holiday light display. The "Grandpa Gang" has been at it again transforming Rock Springs Park in Alton, Illinois into a Winter Wonderland. Visitors can drive through the park to view more than 2 million lights, cascading waterfalls of lights, lighted trees and displays, and visit Santa Claus in the Enchanted Forest. Christmas Wonderland 2009 will be open from November 27th through December 27th. The suggested donation is $7 for cars and small vans or $1 per person for vehicles holding more than 10 people.
