Yorkville's 4th of July Celebration
The Yorkville Independence Day Parade steps off on Game Farm Road and proceeds to Somonauk Street, King Street, West Main Street, Church Street and ends at the water tower. Town Square activities begin immediately after the parade and will include children's foot races, rides, water fights, food vendors and a performance by the Yorkville Community Band. Fireworks begin at dusk near the corner of Rt. 47 and Countryside Pkwy. The Yorkville Big Band is scheduled to perform at 8 pm at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home. All 4th of July activities are free and open to the public. Food and drink are available for purchase.
Ribs on the River Weekend
The smell of BBQ ribs will be wafting around Bicentennial Riverfront Park as the city hosts its Annual Ribs on the River backyard BBQ Contest. Come all day for the food and stay to hear the following bands; Friday Night – Red Woody and Saturday – County Line Brothers, Back Country Roads and Whiskey Romance! The Ribs on the River event is back due to popular demand! This event will couple the best food, fun and friendly competition all in one great day. Bringing our backyard BBQ rib enthusiasts and those just looking for some good old fun, grill-masters will have the change to get their grill on and test their ribs on the public and the panel of judges. Ribs on the River is not for professionals or businesses, but those guys and gals who endure hours of work to perfect their ribs. Join us at our third annual event that ensures to have you licking your fingers for more at the end of the day! So whether you are in the mood to compete, eat ribs and have a refreshing drink, check out the vendors, enjoy the events at the river or listen to the band, there is something for everyone!
Yorkville Hometown Days Festival
The 2016 Hometown Days Festival is a family oriented event that provides entertainment the entire family can enjoy! We are excited to bring back again this year the past favorites such as the Pride and Joy Car Show, the Baby Contest, carnival, and live musical performances. We are also excited to announce the return of a 2015 crowd favorite – The Ultimate Air Dogs Show! Headliner entertainment all three days. Midwest Street Rod Association of Illinois presents the nationally known Gears & Ears #39 Midwest Car Show & Swap. With over 100 members the MSRA Gears & Ears is one of the best car shows in the Chicagoland area.
Waterman Summerfest & Tractor Show
Come join us for a day of affordable family fun in the park. All kinds of kid's entertainment: Live music, Crafter/Flea market, Petting zoo, Train rides, Pedal pull, Tractor pull & Tractor/truck parade, draw down raffle, food concession and many other attractions. Starts at 6 a.m. with breakfast. And ends late evening after a fireworks show and live bands by the beer garden.

Sycamore's Steam Show and Threshing Bee
The History of the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club invites you to their annual Sycamore Steam Show & Threshing Bee. This family friendly event is a great way to step back in time and see many antique machines at work. Threshing using steam engines and gas tractors. Also, a sawmill in operation sawing logs into lumber using Steam Power and Baling Straw using Club's 1900 Sandwich stationary wire-tie baler are just a few of the engaging machine exhibitions that will be presented at the Bee. There will also be Barrel Train rides, rope making, mule team wagon rides and much more to entertain everyone.
Prairie on State Wine Cellars

The tasting room invites you to sample many of the award-winning wines from PSW, shop for unique gifts or enjoy a glass of wine with a Nosh plate that you create yourself. Autumn Craft & Treasures Market
The 44th annual Autumn Craft & Treasures Market, sponsored by the Sycamore Music Boosters, is part of the Sycamore Pumpkin Festival weekend October 29 & 30, 2016. This event will be held at the Sycamore High School Fieldhouse, Saturday, October 29 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday, October 30 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. There are over 250 vendors featuring a wide variety of quality crafts, handmade wood products, specialty items such as wool products, candles, spices, candies, antiques, ceramics and much more.

2017 NCAA National Golf Championships at Rich Harvest Farms
The 2017 NCAA National Golf Championships will be held at Rich Harvest Farms and hosted for the first time by Northern Illinois University, with play taking place from May 19-24 (women) and May 26-31 (men). Sugar Grove will be only the third Illinois city to host the Division I Golf Championships. Cook County’s Olympia Fields Country Club hosted the men’s championship in 1943, while Conway Farms Golf Club outside of Chicago played host to the men’s as well in 1997.
Free Airplane Rides with Young Eagles
Kids ages 8 and 17 years who are interested in aviation can take a free Young Eagles flight and see what pilots do on the ground and in the air. Since 1992, more than 1.8 million Young Eagles have enjoyed a flight from EAA’s network of volunteer pilots. EAA Chapter 579 has flown over 16,000 Young Eagles - more than any other EAA Chapter worldwide. No reservations required. Next free flight dates: Sunday, August 28, Sunday, Sept. 25 and Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016. Times: 9 am – 2 pm (weather permitting). Sandwich Independence Day Weekend Celebration
Celebrate Independence Day weekend at the historic Sandwich Fairgrounds. Festivities begin at 10 am Saturday, July 2 with the Sandwich Park District’s Independence Day Parade, BBQ follows at the Fire Station and water fight competitions are scheduled for the afternoon. The fun continues with the Freedom Run 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run on Sunday morning, July 3 beginning at 8 am. Participants may register early or the day of the race. Lineup will take place at Knights Park. The weekend will end with a fabulous fireworks display at the Sandwich Fairgrounds on Sunday with gates opening at 6 pm. Fireworks will be set off at approximately 9:20 pm. A donation of $5.00 per car is suggested. For more information, contact the Sandwich Park District.

Managed by seasoned antiques dealers, this Second Sunday market of antiques and collectibles has helped to define Sandwich, Illinois as a destination location for both the casual visitor and the sophisticated collector. Held one Sunday of each month May – Oct., except Sept at the Sandwich Fairgrounds, rain or shine. Free parking, food vendors and ATM available. The Sandwich Fair (DeKalb County Fair) is the oldest continuing fair in the State of Illinois. It brings over 175,000 visitors to the Sandwich Fairgrounds every year with harness races, draft horse pulls, carnival rides, demo derby, grandstand shows and the Midwest’s largest display of agricultural and home arts exhibits. It’s a traditional fair with the awesome fun of a modern theme park. The Sandwich Fair is quaint, old-fashioned fun – a great place to stay connected. There’s something for everyone! Join the fun! Plano will be celebrating in super-style. This family-friendly festival commemorates the summer of 2011 when Superman’s enemies came to town and destroyed it during filming of the blockbuster movie, “Man of Steel.” Popular events include the Superman Zipline, the Villian’s Jail, live bands throughout the weekend, old-fashioned children’s games, rock climbing wall, inflatables for the kids and several contests. The Smallville Museum where many different movie and Superman artifacts are housed will be open during the festival.
