PaleoFest 2015 - Burpee Museum of Natural History
In association with the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, PaleoFest 2015 focuses on the Triassic and Jurassic time periods--"The Beginning of Dinosaurs and the Origin of the Modern World." This year's event is a symposium, presenting over 20 renowned speakers, exclusive programs and activities, and a special dinner and lecture with Dr. Hans-Dieter Sues. Burpee Museum Traveling Exhibit - Savage Ancient Seas: Dinosaurs of the Deep!
Take the plunge into the deep, dark, Savage Ancient Seas! It is the world of the late Cretaceous period-over 70 million years ago! Filled with huge carnivorous marine reptiles with double-hinged jaws and teeth in the middle of their palates, gigantic flesh-eating fish big enough to swallow an adult human being whole, flying reptiles with 3-foot skulls, and the biggest sea turtles to have ever lived! Exhibit opens to the public January 17, 2015, and is here until September 7, 2015.
FC3 - Forest City Comic Convention
FC3 at Clock Tower Resort features vendors and artists, local and from surrounding states, all with a pop culture theme, with comic books, movies, toys, card games, RPGs, art, and more. Special guests/celebrities appearing areTerry Pavlet and Angus Oblong with more to be announced. Events include Cosplay Contests, an Independent Film Festival, and a live all geek auction, just to name a few. Family fun for the day and fun for adults at night, as FC3 concludes the FC3 after party commences!
Coronado PAC - John Mellencamp "Plain Spoken Tour"
"The Voice of the Heartland" will play 80 shows including multiple dates in the artist's hometown of Bloomington, Indiana; Nashville, Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, and more. The special guest is Carlene Carter. On September 23rd, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer John Mellencamp will release one of the most distinguished records of his career, Plain Spoken on Republic Records, which includes ten stunningly elegant and soul-searching Americana gems. Plain Spoken is set to be hailed as an unparalleled new chapter in Mellencamp's distinctive songbook. Everyone is invited to the 24th annual Egg Artistry Show to see the fantastic works of art created from eggshells, purchase egging supplies and to vote for their favorite artistic eggshell creation. You may purchase admission at the door the day of this event. In addition to exhibitors, there will be vendors with supplies for sale including miniatures, pictures for decoupage, ribbons, lighting, music boxes, stands, tools, and more to help the egg enthusiast create beautiful eggs. Sock Monkey Madness Festival - Midway Village Museum
This year's theme is "Fairy Tails & Red Heels." An enchanted event celebrating Rockford's Red Heel Sock! Explore why the popular Sock Monkey is important to Rockford's industrial past in the exhibit featuring the local history of Rockford's knitting industry and the origin of the sock monkey doll. Meet "King" Nelson, the World’s Largest Sock Monkey at 7-feet tall! Get free medical check-ups and minor surgery (patches and repairs) for well-loved sock monkeys at Sockford General Hospital. The Sockford Public Library will issue Rockford Public Library cards to visitors wishing to obtain a local library card. Rochelle Cinco de Mayo Celebration
The City of Rochelle is sponsoring a Cinco de Mayo event at the Downtown Rochelle Gazebo from 4-10 pm on Saturday May 2nd. The event is open to the public and will include authentic food; arts and crafts; music and dance demonstrations; and a Chihuahua parade and race throughout the evening.
Oregon Antique Show
One of Northern Illinois oldest and best antique shows. The show will be held at the Blackhawk Center Sports Arena, located on the Oregon public school campus. The facility offers ample parking, handicap accessibility and a huge area for 50 Midwest antique dealers to display their merchandise. Quality antiques will range from the early 1800's up through the retro era of the 1950's including all areas of collecting.

Northwest Illinois Rock Club's 2015 Jewelry, Gem, Fossil and Mineral Show
Midwest dealers will showcase a variety of beautiful gemstones, minerals, fossils, jewelry, beads and gifts for holiday shopping. In addition, there will be lapidary demonstrations, a fun-filled children's fish pond and games, speakers and displays.
46th Annual Threshing Show and Antique Show
The Stephenson County Antique Engine Club proudly presents this annual event, "The Freeport Show". It offers over 300 antique steam and horse-powered engines, equipment, and gas engines. This year's feature is Allis-Chalmers. There will be a huge parade daily at 1 pm, a large flea market, a large display building offering home antiques, crafts, demonstrations, and farm miniatures, Gasoline Alley featuring The Rawleigh gas engines, sawmill, and blacksmith shop. There will be threshing demonstrations with both steam and gas tractors, and working demonstrations throughout the show grounds. Also, ride the Silver Creek and Stephenson Railroad antique steam train. Great food is offered. Don't miss the Farmer's Hitch Class, Horse Pull or the Midwest Championship Antique Tractor Pull.
Gardens United Garden Walk
Some of the finest gardens in the Freeport area are opened for touring. The gardeners generously present their creative efforts for the pleasure of the public. Walk through the gardens and enjoy the colorful scenery. Plus a silent auction and a large variety of garden art items will be offered at one garden. Gardeners will be on site to answer questions and to talk about plants and their gardens.

Visit the Silver Creek Museum which offers 25 rooms of early Americana, Henney Motor Company vehicles, which were manufactured in Freeport, and the operating Cooper-Corliss engine, a giant 130 ton steam engine. Food will be available at the Museum.
