Bourbonnais Friendship Festival
During the five days of fun, rides, games, shows, beer garden, parades, teen Idol, baby contest and more. You are bound to see astronauts, Martians, the Jetsons, Buzz Lightyear, Luke Skywalker and more as you orbit the festival grounds.
The Warrior Dash in Channahon, IL is the world's largest running series. Held on challenging and rugged terrain, people come from all over to participate in feats of courage and strength; like sprinting over fire, trudging through mud and scaling at least 12 obstacles during this fierce 5K. Frankfort Fall Festival
The Frankfort Fall Festival is ranked in the top 15 shows to visit by Sunshine Artist. There are 300 artisan from 30 states selling hand-crafted items at our show which includes local civic organizations selling food items, a carnival, entertainment and a community parade.
Frankfort Half Marathon
The Frankfort Half Marathon will begin and end in the beautiful historic district of downtown Frankfort. The race will commence right outside the door of Running Excels on the Old Plank Trail and run westward. After 2.7 miles of running on the scenic, tree-lined Old Plank Trail, the racers will turn off into the Hickory Creek Forest Preserve. The rolling hills of the forest preserve will provide a picturesque tour for the runners as they reach the halfway and turn-around point in the race. The runners will then proceed back through the forest preserve and to the Old Plank Trail for their final journey towards the finish line and the post-race party on the Breidert Green. 7AM.
Amateur Rib Cook Off
Enjoy the favorite rib recipes cooked on site; public tasting of ribs from Noon until 2:00 PM. Live entertainment. This event is co-sponsored with the Frankfort Area Jaycees. ($1/Rib Piece) 12-2PM.

Red Carpet Corridor Event -Joliet Area Historical Museum - 2015 Free Days!
The Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau will be sponsoring Free Days at the Joliet Area Historical Museum, as part of the 9th Annual Red Carpet Corridor events on May 2 & 3, 2015. Joliet—Saturday: The Route 66 Visitor’s Center at the Joliet Area Historical Museum will be open from 8am to 5pm. Sunday: The Route 66 Visitor’s Center at the Joliet Area Historical Museum will be open from noon to 5pm. Come for discounted admission to the Route 66 Experience portion of the Joliet Area Historical Museum. Discounted rates will be available on these days for RCC attendees desiring to experience the Museum’s galleries. It is all about family fun on the most famous road in America - Route 66. This year’s event will be Saturday, May 2, from 8 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday, May 3, from 8 AM to 3 PM. Sponsored by the twelve communities which make up the 90-mile linear museum from Joliet to Towanda, the annual festival invites everyone to experience the good life in the slow lane. Each community will produce its own events. From full-blown festivals to antique and craft sales, art sales, car and motorcycle shows, live entertainments, and plenty of yard, garage, and sidewalk sales along the way, everyone is sure to discover something unique. Food, snacks and treats will be in abundance, and there are plenty of historic sites, outstanding free museums and unique mom & pop businesses to help create a nostalgic journey for all to enjoy. Visitors can simply enjoy the drive, stop and have their picture taken with Elvis, or do a little shopping in any of the great stores along the Mother Road.

Join our Keyboard Artists, Pierre Fracalanza, Jelani Eddington, Clark Wilson and Jerry Nagano, along with the return of the fabulous Joliet Symphony Orchestra of the University of St. Francis, for an evening of magnificent music.
RiverWatch Volunteer Stream Monitoring Workshop
The Illinois RiverWatch Network is a statewide, non-profit, volunteer stream monitoring program. Volunteers are trained and certified as “Citizen Scientists” to monitor and protect a local stream. Upon completing training and becoming certified, volunteers adopt a stream site and examine indicators of water quality like stream habitat and the diversity of species such as dragonfly nymphs, beetle larva, midges, and snails. Citizen Scientists play an important role in helping identify potentially degraded waters and areas that may need better protection. University of St. Francis, 9am-4pm.
