Uptown Grill's Playlist Theater presents: Griffin House
Playlist Theater, a cozy concert nook inside LaSalle's famed Uptown Grill, has been entertaining the Starved Rock area since 2006. This venue has hosted dozens of national acts, many of whom are quick to add the Playlist Theater as a favorite stop on their next tour. Marseilles Fun Days
This is a week long summer family festival celebration. Marseilles Fun Days Committee decided to bring the festival back centered around one of the city's premier annual events, The Marseilles Fireman's Car Cruise. The cruise will be part of a busy Saturday, July 18. Fun Days itself will take place Monday, July 13, through Sunday, July 19. Mendota Sweet Corn Festival
Tons of free, hot, buttered, delicious Del Monte sweet corn will be the highlight of the 68th annual Sweet Corn Festival to be held in Mendota, Illinois on August 6-9. The Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the gigantic undertaking of hosting over 60,000 visitors, who consume nearly 50 tons of sweet corn during the festival weekend. Don't miss the excitement for the festival offers a variety of entertainment events for the entire family. The events take place primarily in the downtown area, and with the exception of the beer garden, have no admission fees or parking fees. Free musical entertainment is in abundance. The Crafters Market Place and flea market features over 200 dealers in hand made crafts and unique merchandise. There is a Queen Pageant, beer garden with live bands, grand parade and a carnival with rides and games for both adults and children, plus much more. The midways are lined with food booths, featuring a multitude of ethnic, regional and festival foods, but the "BIG EVENT" is the serving of the free Del Monte sweet corn on Sunday afternoon. For over 65 years, it has been cooked to its golden goodness with the help of a vintage steam engine. If you would like to take some of the memories of Mendota's Sweet Corn Festival home with you, the Mendota Chamber will be selling fresh Del Monte sweet corn by the bag on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the festival. The good times are waiting, the welcome mat is out, come to Mendota for one of the Midwest's oldest and largest harvest festivals, the 67th annual Sweet Corn Festival.
City of Morris Concerts on the Courthouse Lawn
The Neverly Brothers kick off the 2015 season! Join this popular event every other Thursday this summer for a concert on the Grundy County Courthouse Lawn. Every concert will feature a different performance from the area. Admission is free! Season runs from June 4 through August 13.
30th Annual Cabin Festival
See authentic pioneer crafts done by the Prairie Partners and Friends as they re-enact in authentic dress. Visit the Cragg Cabin history exhibit and prairie life presentations. Park your car in the visitor center parking area. Walk the trail to the Cabin or ride the wagon. Some demonstrators and vendors will have items for sale. The gift shop will be under the tent. The event is to celebrate cabin living and life in the 1830's Location in and around the Cragg Cabin North North-East of the Visitor's Center. 10:00am- 3:00pm

Annual Gus Macker Three on Three Basketball Tournament
Gus Macker teams up with nostalgia, history in Morris, IL, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. This will be the 13th year of Gus Macker 3-on-3 in Morris, IL, which is a nostalgic slice of America nestled along the 96-mile I and M Canal that connects the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River. Gus likes to think the I and M mean Incredible Macker site, though it really means Illinois and Michigan Canal. In essence, both are true. It is a tremendous and welcoming stop along the historic canal, as well as an incredible Macker site. Abraham Lincoln reportedly received a haircut during a visit to Morris, but that's just a footnote or maybe headnote in the history of the nostalgic downtown atmosphere that greets Macker players each year. Registration is right on the Grunday County Courthouse lawn. The courts branch out from there on city streets named for great competition, and all together it presents a basketball festival for gamily and friends. Come on over on June 7 and 8. Morris is located just a little over an hour's drive from downtown Chicago, a lot closer from all the suburbs and that's a short trip to find fun, beautiful parks, quaint shops and wonderful restaurants. Oh, and basketball. A dunk contest, 3-point shooting contest, free-throw contest and a Dream Court for those young dreamers are annual parts of the fun brought to you by the Morris Downtown Development Partnership, Inc., as well as gracious sponsor partners. All age groups and levels of experience are welcome. Just put 111 East Washington in your GPS application. Hey, you could probably get a haircut like Honest Abe. Gebhard Woods Dulcimer and Traditional Music Festival
The Festival Operates from 9 am till 6 pm. Your generous donations are one of the main sources of financial support for the festival. The festival provides all day entertainment at concerts and unlimited instruction from nationally recognized musicians. Suggested Donations: Individual Adult: $15 - Day or $25 - weekend Family: $30 - Day or $45 - weekend Seniors (60 & older): $12 - Day or $22 - weekend This donation includes admission to the Saturday Night Old-Time Dance at Immaculate Conception School. The festival provides all day entertainment at concerts and unlimited instruction from nationally recognized musicians. Because the festival is held in a state park, there is no charge for admission. Cruise Night in Morris
Years ago, there was a tradition in Morris called "Buzzing the Gut", a simple way of saying cruising Liberty Street. Morris is bringing that tradition back to downtown. Any Classic car owners are invited to participate. For a minimal registration fee of $10.00, car owners can display their cars on Liberty Street starting at 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Entry closes at 8:00 p.m. No rain dates. The public is invited to walk around and enjoy these classic cars at no cost! Proceeds go to Grundy Community Hospice. Second Saturdays through October 10.

The 4 Rivers Kayak Tour takes in the I&M Canal, Dupage, Des Plaines and Illinois rivers. People join the scenic kayak tours as an alternate fitness activity, an alternate social activity and to learn about nature/kayaking. If you have never kayaked before, try the guided tour. Historic Trolley Tour
Take a great adventure every June through December! Board a trolley outside of the Great Hall area of the Lodge. Enjoy a historic trolley ride with stops at the Starved Rock State Park Visitor Center where you will see a short video of the area. You will also travel to the Illinois Waterway Visitor Center where you will see Starved Rock from across the river and watch as the river traffic lock through the locks. You will also travel through the village of Utica and hear about the Illinois and Michigan Canal. While aboard, the driver will narrate the history and legends of the area. Take a Hike & a Lunch - Starved Rock Canyons
Join us for a guided hike from the Lodge to LaSalle and Tonti Canyons. Participants meet in the hotel main lobby of the Lodge to pick up a lunch and a “Starved Rock” backpack. Hikers will stop for lunch once they reach a Canyon. The tour concludes at the Lodge about 2:00pm. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. Hike will be around 4.5 miles round trip. This hike is classified as strenuous. Lunch includes: your choice of turkey, ham or PB&J, bag of chips, homemade granola bar, piece of fruit and a bottle of water. Advanced reservations are required as space is limited. For more information or to book, call 815-220-7386 Saturday hikes will go to LaSalle Canyon. Depart from Lodge and hikers will stop for lunch once they reach LaSalle Canyon. After lunch, the hike continues to Eagle Cliff and Lover’s Leap. The tour concludes at the Lodge around 2:30 pm. Sunday hikes will go to St. Louis Canyon. The hike will depart from the Lodge and go to the top of Starved Rock then hike to Aurora Canyon. After Aurora Canyon, hikers will go to St. Louis Canyon and stop for lunch. After lunch, the hike continues back to the Lodge and ends around 2:30 pm. Saturday & Sundays through November, 11am-2pm. $17 per person.
Canal Boat & Trolley Tour
Start off with a delicious hot lunch at Starved Rock Lodge. Next, board one of our trolleys for a ride through historic downtown Utica and stop at Cattails for shopping. Your trolley will also take you on a relaxing ride to LaSalle where you will board the canal boat. Step back into time with period dressed interpreters on this 1-hour boat ride. There is minimal walking involved in this tour and restrooms are available throughout. Dinner & Evening Cruise on the Belle of the Rock
Tour includes a trolley shuttle to and from the boat. The ride is a relaxing, scenic hour and a half cruise on the Belle of the Rock. The Amazing Race – Starved Rock Style
Spend an exciting day solving devious clues each step of the way and getting to know the Starved Rock Lodge area a little more. Try to be the first to uncover the Legend of Starved Rock. Use your wits, energy and sense of adventure as you race against time and your fellow racers. Enjoy a post-race awards ceremony at the finish line. The Amazing Race is fantastic for families, but children under the age of 8 and guests with limited mobility may find this event too strenuous. Teams are of 2-4 people and at least one person must have a valid drivers license and their own transportation as there is driving involved. Check in for the race will be at 11:15 a.m in the Starved Rock Lodge Lobby. Race start time is 11:30 a.m. $50.00 per couple. 2015 Dates for Amazing Race are: May 17 June 14 & 28 July 12 & 26 August 16 & 30 September 13 & 20.
