Amboy Wildlife Marsh Wildlife Santuary Tour - Diverse Habitats
Join the Illinois Audubon Society to enjoy a day at Amboy Wildlife Marsh & Sanctuary. Cost is $10 which includes snacks & water and an optional lunch can be purchased for $6. Learn about the unique habitats that make this sanctuary an absolute jewel which includes wetlands, black oak savannas, sedge meadows and dry sand prairies. DeKalb Corn Fest
Corn Fest is one of the last, free, summer, music festivals among Illinois music and summer festivals in Illinois. Well over 100,000 people from around Illinois and the Midwest attend the music festival over a three day weekend. This festival features a carnival complete with rides and games, food booths, free live music, kiddie korner with large inflatables, family entertainment and much more. Friday night is carnival wristband nights for the kids with unlimited rides from 6-10pm. Festival areas feature food and business vendor booths, and a beer garden

DeKalb County Barn Tour
The DeKalb County Barn Tour is a one-day driving tour of barn sites within DeKalb County hosted by the DeKalb Area Agricultural Heritage Association and the JF Glidden Homestead & Historical Center. Participants will receive a map Guide Book containing hand-drawn sketches of each barn and the barn’s history, style and use. Participants drive to each location in any order for a tour of the barn(s), including many interiors. Purchase your event ticket at any of the seven locations. Admission is $20 per vehicle (buses extra) (Museum members receive a 25% discount). Bus groups are welcome.
10th Annual "Let's Dance" Big Band Weekend
The event provides a venue and 'live' dance bands ( 10 - 17 pieces) for fans and social ballroom dancers to enjoy. Catered food - healthy, delicious, recommended by dancers. Floor - 13,000 sq. ft. smooth hardwood, well maintained. Advance package deals are available. 'At door' registration will be accepted 30 minutes prior to each scheduled dance.

Egyptian Theatre Flashlight Tour
**NEW for 2015** Join Egyptian Theatre staff as they provide a tour of the historic Egyptian Theatre using just your flashlights. Guests will be treated to a behind the scenes backstage tour which will highlight the haunted history of the theatre. 17th Annual Biking with Beanzie
Biking with Beanzie is a recreational ride presented by Kishwaukee Kiwanis Club of DeKalb and sponsored by Kishwaukee Community Hospital.The ride route consists of primarily flat rural roads with some rolling terrain with estimated ride options of 23, 43, 63, 80, or 101 miles. All roads are well-paved, lightly traveled and posted with signs containing ride information and bits of Beanzie humor. This year also includes 3-mile, 5-mile, & 8-mile community bicycle pathway route options.
Ellwood Explorers - Lunch at the Little House
The popular 1891 Victorian playhouse on the grounds of the Ellwood House Museum will be open for play during the second annual ‘Lunch at the Little House’ event. Children of all ages are invited to bring lunch and enjoy an afternoon at the Ellwood House. Historic toys will be available to interact with an learn about and the 1891 Victorian playhouse will be open to visitors as well. This event is free, but advanced registration is requested.
Ride Like An Egyptian
Join us for a fun and enjoyable bike ride through DeKalb and Kane Counties and support the historic Egyptian Theatre on Satruday, August 22nd. Since the ride starts and ends at the Egyptian Theatre, you will have the opportunity to explore this historic landmark. This bike ride offers four mix-n-match 25-mile loops. All participants will be provided with route maps and all routes will be marked with signs. There will be great SAG support on all loops and a well-stocked central rest stop. Bike at your own speed, this is not a race. All ages are welcome, however, those under the age of 16 must ride with a participating parent or guardian. There will be an end-of-ride meal provided for registered riders. Meal will feature soup, sandwiches, and refreshments.
Gurler Heritage Association Folk Music Fest
Join us on the big, beautiful lawn of the Gurler House to enjoy great local music featuring Dave Balika and Friends, The Wacky Keys and A Wing & a Prayer Dixieland Jazz Band. Bring your friends, family, and lawn chair to this fun, free event. Chicago-style hot dogs, baked goods, cold drinks and buttons will be for sale, and all money raised benefits the Gurler House. This historic home is one of the oldest in DeKalb, and it is a few blocks north of downtown on the corner of 2nd and Pine. Mendota Sweet Corn Festival
Tons of free, hot, buttered, delicious Del Monte sweet corn will be the highlight of the 68th annual Sweet Corn Festival to be held in Mendota, Illinois on August 6-9. The Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the gigantic undertaking of hosting over 60,000 visitors, who consume nearly 50 tons of sweet corn during the festival weekend. Don't miss the excitement for the festival offers a variety of entertainment events for the entire family. The events take place primarily in the downtown area, and with the exception of the beer garden, have no admission fees or parking fees. Free musical entertainment is in abundance. The Crafters Market Place and flea market features over 200 dealers in hand made crafts and unique merchandise. There is a Queen Pageant, beer garden with live bands, grand parade and a carnival with rides and games for both adults and children, plus much more. The midways are lined with food booths, featuring a multitude of ethnic, regional and festival foods, but the "BIG EVENT" is the serving of the free Del Monte sweet corn on Sunday afternoon. For over 65 years, it has been cooked to its golden goodness with the help of a vintage steam engine. If you would like to take some of the memories of Mendota's Sweet Corn Festival home with you, the Mendota Chamber will be selling fresh Del Monte sweet corn by the bag on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the festival. The good times are waiting, the welcome mat is out, come to Mendota for one of the Midwest's oldest and largest harvest festivals, the 67th annual Sweet Corn Festival.
