Veterans On Parade
Marion proudly presents a parade to honor all Southern Illinois veterans. Over 17 bands will march & perform plus floats and over 1000 veterans from all branches of service will ride or march. Entertainment and food at Fairgrounds. The annual Veterans on Parade is being held to honor all the men and women veterans throughout Southern Illinois, who have ever served our country in both war and peacetime. Southern Illinois Music Festival
The Southern Illinois Music Festival, now in its 12th season, is presenting Rossini's final opera, William Tell, at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center June 7, 8, 10 and 11. This opera has only been produced in the United States three times in the last century, so this is an historic event. The Southern Illinois Music Festival presents three-dozen professional performances of classical music and jazz in two dozen venues throughout Southern Illinois each June. The Festival has been nationally recognized in Symphony magazine, the premiere publication for American orchestras; by the Chicago Tribune Travel section as one of 24 top summer activities (musical and otherwise) in an eight-state region; and by AAA Midwest magazine as a Midwest Travel Treasure. Southern Illinois Music Festival
The Southern Illinois Music Festival, now in its 12th season, is presenting Rossini's final opera, William Tell, sung in French with projected English supertitles, at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center June 7, 8, 10 and 11. This opera has only been produced in the United States three times in the last century, so this is an historic event. The Festival Orchestra will also perform a grand orchestral program of Bach, Beethoven and Brahms, including the “Eroica” Symphony and the Double Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra, featuring violinist, Michael Barta and cellist, Eric Lenz. The Festival will also present music by Mozart from 1776, including his three great violin concerti, the concerto for three pianos, the Serenata Notturno and the “Paris” Symphony. Mark your calendars for May 27 through June 13, 2016. Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days
The 26th Annual Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days will be held at John A Logan College. It is the largest celebration of Hunting and Fishing Day in the country. This 200+ vendor show offers something for the whole family. Bass Fishing and Crappie seminars, catfish contest, Goose calling contests, Dock Dogs competitions, retriever demonstrations and a kids fishing hole are just a few of the activities throughout the weekend.
Southern Illinois Boat & Fishing Show
A weekend long event sponsored by the Youth Outdoor Education Foundation and the Williamson County Tourism Bureau. The show features boats, trailers, trucks, ATVs, fishing tackle, live entertainment and more. Admission and parking is free. Great fun for all ages.

Riverside Art, Wine & Blues Festival

Muscle Car & Truck Show at Walker’s Bluff
Walker’s Bluff is gearing up to host a Car Show on June 11th! This is a non-judged event. Vendor spaces are available. There will be live music by Zippy's Clutch as well as food, beer, and wine! Each participant will be entered into the raffle to win a Class 1 Chevrolet 350 Jasper Engine! All makes and models welcome! Awards at 6pm and Zippy's Clutch begins at 7pm! Murphysboro Apple Festival
The Murphysboro Apple Festival is the oldest and largest, alcohol-free festival in Southern Illinois. Over 45,000 people attend the festival each year. During the five days of the Apple Festival, there are numerous activities drawing large crowds such as evening stage shows, carnival/concessions, Queen Contest, Prince and Princess Contest, contests from apple pie eating to apple core throwing, firefighters' water fights, marching band competition, car shows, Appletime 5K Walk/Run and much more. In addition, the festival's Grand Parade is one of the largest parade in Southern Illinois. The parade features an average of about 160 total units, 25 of those marching bands, and a variety of groups and organizations.
Miss Illinois Scholarship Pageant
The Miss Illinois Scholarship Association is a duly-accredited state preliminary scholarship association in the Miss America Organization - the world’s largest provider of scholarship and cash assistance to young women. For four nights, the Marion Cultural and Civic Center will host preliminaries, Outstanding Teen and Pre-Teen pageants, and overall finals.

Live on Main - Aaron Kamm & The One Drops/ Nikki Hill
The Carbondale Music Coalition and Carbondale Tourism will be hosting this "concert in the street!" Free live music will be held on Monroe street in Carbondale next to City Hall. Nikki Hill and Aaron Kamm will be performing! Everyone is welcome. Food and beer will be available for purchase.
John A. Logan College Autumn Fest

Dozens of hummingbirds should be present to "wow" the observers. After the birds are captured and banded (through special permits), visitors may wish to adopt one (for a $5 donation to the Lincoln Land Association of Bird Banders, sponsor of the event) and have the privilege of releasing it back to the wild. Those who adopt birds will receive an attractive signed certificate and will be notified if their bird is ever recaptured. Held at the Trail of Tears State Forest pavilion, Jonesboro, 9:00 am to noon. There is no charge for the event.
