Inside the Regenstein Center, a 10,000-square-foot exhibition of miniature trains winds over bridges, under trestles, past waterfalls, and through more than 80 mini-replicas of Chicago's favorite landmarks. Paul Busse, designer of the Model Railroad Garden, created this amazing exhibition exclusively for the Garden's holiday celebration.

Winterfest in Downtown Oak Park

Participate in Downtown Oak Park’s annual Cookie Walk! A $20 participation fee includes a souvenir cookie tin and a map of over 45 participating shops and restaurants to collect a cookie or candy at each stop. Catch a glimpse of Saint Nicholas on Marion Street, enjoy a variety of family-friendly acts and warm up inside the hospitality tent with free hot chocolate & coffee. Winter WonderFest at Navy Pier
The 15th annual festival is Chicago's coolest, biggest and best indoor playground. There is an ice skating rink, Ferris wheel, carousel and huge inflatable slides spread across 170,000 square feet — and the decor is just as spectacular. Massive snowflakes and thousands of icicle lights dangle from the ceiling, over 400 evergreens in all their trimmings add more holiday glitz, and giant candy canes, gingerbread houses and snowmen border the rides.
Winter Holiday Hayride
Our annual holiday hayrides will feature the food, fun and traditions from the pioneers of North America. We'll ride on our decorated hay wagon through the streets of Palos Heights singing Christmas carols then return to the Nature Center to enjoy food, crafts and other activities. Registration and payment to be made in person or by mail no later than the Monday before hayride. $8 per person.
White Christmas The Musical
Celebrate the holiday season with Irving Berlin's White Christmas, the merry and bright stage production based on the classic silver screen romantic comedy. When two former Army buddies, who are now Broadway performers, follow a sister act booked at a charming Vermont Inn, they soon discover that it is owned by their former commander. With no snow and no customers, the General is nearly bankrupt. To save the lodge, the two acts team up and put on a festive show packed with Irving Berlin favorites like Blue Skies, Count Your Blessings, I Love a Piano, and, of course, White Christmas. White Christmas is joyful entertainment for the entire family and will have audiences dreaming of tree tops glistening and sleigh bells in the snow.
Water Tower Gallery
A Biennial exhibition will be presented by the City Gallery, located in the Historic Water Tower, a familiar and treasured landmark located along the city’s famed Magnificent Mile. Constructed between 1867 and 1869, the tower was created for Chicago’s municipal water system, and originally housed a 135-foot iron standpipe used to regulate water pressure. It gained special significance as one of the few buildings to survive the destructive path of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The City Gallery regularly presents art and photography exhibitions.

Stony Island Arts Bank Tour
Join Rebuild Foundation for a tour of Chicago's newest venue for contemporary art. Designed by William Gibbons Uffendell in 1923, the Stony Island Arts Bank has recently undergone a radical restoration led by Rebuild Foundation's artistic director Theaster Gates. As part of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, the tour will include viewings of two Biennial commissions: an installation by Portuguese artist Carlos Bunga and a courtyard designed by Mexican architect Frida Escobedo. Guests will also enjoy an introduction to five of Rebuild Foundation’s collections, several of which focus on black history and culture, including the Johnson Publishing Company's library and “godfather of House music” Frankie Knuckles' vinyl collection. Tours are free and open to the public, but space is limited so please rsvp.

Come join Schiller Park at their annual Santa’s Winter Wonderland. Santa & his friends will be there to ring in the holiday season with numerous fun activities. There will also be a charity coat drive once again where each donator of a coat will receive a prize. In addition the event will be followed by the Village's Holiday Tree Lighting event at 6:30 PM at Clocktower Park. The Village hopes you and your family will be able to enjoy this free family event. Port Clinton Art Festival is one of the most successful juried art festivals and attracts more than 250,000 art enthusiasts from places near and far.
