Olympic Champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White will headline the Colgate Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular at the Northern Illinois University Convocation Center on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 6:30pm. The cast will feature the most decorated dance team in U.S. figure skating history, 2014 Olympic champions and two-time World champions Davis and White. More gymnastic stars as well as a special guest singing star will be added as the event draws closer. Ellwood House Holiday Traditions Tours
Enjoy a holiday open house and tours of the beautifully decorated Ellwood House Mansion. Every November, the Ellwood Museum partners with area businesses, community sponsors, and volunteers to decorate the mansion room-by-room on all four floors. From November 15-29, (closed Mondays and Thanksgiving) our guided holiday tours give visitors the opportunity to see the mansion in a new light. See our VISIT page for hours and information. At the end of our touring season, we open the doors for a three-day Holiday Open House weekend. Visitors may purchase tickets in the Visitor Center (or online) and present their tickets at the front door of the mansion. Upon entering the decorated mansion, volunteers will be stationed in each room, presenting the history of the Ellwood House and sharing information about the two generations of Ellwood family members who called Ellwood House home.

Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition
As many as 70,000 visitors view these massive works of snow art each year. Teams from around the state will compete in Rockford for the right to represent Illinois in the 2017 U.S. Nationals Snow Sculpting Competition, and high school teams from the Rockford area will compete in the high school division the same week. The public is encouraged to cast their vote for the People's Choice award between 8:30am and 11:00am on January 23. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at 1:00pm in the Sinnissippi Park Maintenance Building. Sinnissippi Park is open to the public for sculpture viewing while weather permits. Viewing hours are daily from sunrise until 10:30pm. You may drive or walk through the park. Visitors are encouraged to take the time to walk through to maximize their experience and allow them to view the sculptures from all sides. Limited parking is available at Sinnissippi Park. Additional parking is available at Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens just west of Sinnissippi Park across N. Second Street.
