Elkhart Bird Watcher Walks
On Saturday, April 26, 2014 the Elkhart Historical Society will host Bird Watcher Walks on Elkhart Hill. Watchers will enjoy looking for migratory birds, this is a perfect opportunity for a spring family event. The outing will be on foot. Walks will last approximately 90 minutes. The walks will be offered at 6 am and 4 pm. Registration is limited to 15 people per walk.
Summer Camp Music Festival
The first Summer Camp Music Festival was held in 2001 at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, IL. About 1,000 attended the festival that year, and enjoyed over 20 bands on 2 stages over the course of 2 days. Since then, Summer Camp Music Festival has grown to more than 15,000 attendees, hosting more than 100 bands on 7 stages over 3 days. And while our numbers have grown, Summer Camp still maintains the same energy and family feel we had when we started over a decade ago. As one fan put it, “Coming to Summer Camp is like coming home.” You’ll run into old friends, meet a ton of great new ones, and have the time of your life.
Central Illiana Outdoor Expo
A diverse collection of outdoor sports related exhibitors will be on hand along with seminars and free autograph signings with personalities from programs featured on the Outdoor Channel, the Sportsman Channel, and the Pursuit Channel. Special events will also includes a kids' zone, Big Buck Wall of Fame, and buck scoring opportunities.

Danville's Art in the Park features over 60 regional artist booths and two full days of continuous on stage performances, festival food, and a children's tent. The "Art of Wheels" classic car show kicks off the event each year on Saturday (June 21) morning.
Fight to the Finish 5k
A 5K race of extreme obstacles and challenging terrain to benefit Children’s Hospital of Illinois. The patients and families helped through Children’s Hospital face obstacles every day, some small and some life changing. As you pull yourself up a brick wall, crawl through the mud and fight to get through the water first, you’ll be reminded of those challenges. Funds raised from this event will be used to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Pediatric Healthy Living Program. Join us for the race, but plan for a fun day full of activities. There is something for everyone. Make your way through the vendor area on your way to enjoy a bite to eat from several local restaurants. Young visitors will enjoy the kid's activity area! This section opens at 9AM and admission is $5 per child (free to those who are racing in the Kids Run). The kid's activity area includes a hula hoop contest, healthy eating station, healthy activity station, face painting and glitter tattoos by the Zoo Lady & the Zoo Crew.

2014 Wright Ride
The Oak Park Cycle Club, The Oak Park Regional Housing Center and Visit Oak Park invite you to the Wright Ride 2014. One of the best ways to discover the delights of Chicago's near western suburbs is on two wheels. A family-friendly event, the Wright Ride is not a race-but a leisurely jaunt through some of Chicagoland's most beautiful tree-lined and architecturally rich communities. Cyclists of all abilities are welcome: whether you're a novice, casual cyclist, or experienced long-distance rider, there's something here for everyone. A plus is that cycling is an eco-friendly way to tour the wealth of historically significant homes and structures throughout the area. With a choice of 10, 30, 50 and 62-mile routes, riders will be able to take in the scenery and charm of as many as 10 communities, including Oak Park, River Forest, Riverside, and Western Springs. More than 25 intriguing landmarks - including a dozen designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Chicago's Memorial Day Parade
Chicago's Memorial Day Parade honors all men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country. The Wreath Laying Ceremony will begin at 11am at the Eternal Flame on Daley Plaza (Dearborn and Washington Streets). The parade will step off at noon and proceed south on State Street from Lake Street to Van Buren Street. The Chicago parade is considered one of the largest Memorial Day parades in the nation. The event kicks off with a parade followed by a gigantic fireworks display with an exceptional array of shells at Jurgens Park. Annual Abe’s River Race
Abe’s Canoe Race is a celebration on the beautiful Sangamon River that led a young Abraham Lincoln to settle in New Salem, and of course the rest is history. Vermilion River Fall Festival

Always held the Wednesday after Labor Day. This large DeKalb County Fair held at the fairgrounds on Illinois Route 34, just south of DeKalb, in Sandwich. 71st Annual National Sweetcorn Festival
Diligence, family, and a whole lot of corn! Each and every Labor Day weekend, for the past 70 years, the Hoopeston Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) hosts the National Sweetcorn Festival. Classic American festival events include a midway full of carnival rides, games, and stands of delicious fried goodness, smashing cars at the demo derby, and a grand parade featuring marching bands, pageant queens, and plenty of candy. Being the National Sweetcorn Capital of the World, Hoopeston has to have their own unique twists to the festival. An antique steam engine cooks more than 50 tons hot buttered sweetcorn and is served up to approximately 20,000 visitors over the course of the weekend free of charge! With a line that wraps around the park, it is clear that Hoopeston really does sweetcorn the right way, the best way.
Sycamore's Turning Back Time Weekend
Saturday is Cruise Night, complete with a free concert by Vintage Vinyl, a classic car cruise, food vendors, beer garden and more. The Classic Car Show is on Sunday featuring over 1,000 cars on display. This event is free to attend.

Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival
The inaugural Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival is set to take place September 11-14, 2014 at the beautiful 3.000 acre Kennekuk County Park. Phases of the Moon is a four-day music, arts and camping event thoughtfully tailored to provide a unique festival experience. It boasts four outdoor stages: two main stages that alternate following each set and two smaller stages. Along with amazing music, attendees will have access to farm-to-table food, craft beer, a farmer's market and a mall of diverse craft vendors featuring an array of original items. Large interactive sculptures, live art, and works from renowned national and local artists will be on display.

Marshall's Halloween Frolic
This family-friendly one-day event features Halloween games, stories, hayrides and hot chocolate, & parade of costumes with costume judging at the gazebo. Games for kids of all ages, trunk or treat in a safe family friendly environment, and then join in the parade around the courthouse and then enter in the costume contest. Each contestant receives $1 just for entering. Located at Courthouse Square lawn in downtown Marshall on the National Road.
Chicago Kids and Kites Festival
Chicago Kids and Kites Festival is a fun-filled day to celebrate the joys of being a kid. From running around outdoors, flying free paper kites and enjoying family-focused programming including face painting, balloon artists and crafts. All crafts activities are while supplies last. Families will be able to purchase kites onsite at the Kite Harbor booth and enjoy professional kite flying demonstrations and learn tips on how to fly a kite. Weather permitting, the festival will also include the Big Kite Candy Drop, a piñata-like kite filled with candies that drop from the sky. Kids & Kites festival will run from 10am to 4pm on Cricket Hill, near the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Montrose Ave.
