Fall Festival of Crafts
The Fall Festival of Crafts in Sandwich, Illinois is the oldest and largest craft fair in the state! There will be hundreds of vendors! It will be attended by thousands! Held at three locations in Sandwich: Sandwich Fairgrounds (815.498.9688), Downtown Sandwich on Railroad Street (815.786.9404), Indian Springs Shopping Center on Route 34 (630.330.1202). Kendall County Fair

Bluegrass Music Festival
Come out for the Annual Bluegrass Music Festival where the jamming doesn't stop! Primitive camping available Friday night. Canteen open Saturday. Suggested donation $5 per person for members and $20 donation for nonmembers which includes a one year Northern Illinois Bluegrass Association (NIBA) membership. Noon - 6 pm
Yorkville Fall Fest and Pumpkin Pull
Watch as hundreds of pumpkins float down the river and have your chance at winning prizes in the second annual Pumpkin Pull at his year's Fall Fest! Join the United City of Yorkville and the Knights of Columbus to enjoy hayrides, pumpkin decorating, live music, great food and more! 10 am - 6 pm
Fox Valley Pro Rodeo
Fox Valley Pro Rodeo includes big hat world championship rodeo action with exciting events including bareback riding, cowgirl barrel racing, and the rodeo's most popular and dangerous event - bull riding! Watch professional riders earn points to win a bid to the Nationals seen on TV. Bring the little buckaroos at 5:00 pm each night for games with the cowboys. Hilarious, family-friendly clowns, kids' games, food and drink vendors, music and fun for the whole family. Event admission prices include a country music concert with dancing immediately following the evening rodeo performance. Parking is FREE - Kids 4 and Under are FREE. Starts 7 pm.
Illinois Whitewater Festival
Join the Chicago Whitewater Association as they host a Buttercup Slalom Race! Come as a participant or a spectator as kayak enthusiasts Slalom Race and BoaterCROSS throughout the day! Waterman Summerfest & Tractor Show
Come join us for a day of affordable family fun in the park. All kinds of kid's entertainment: Live music, Crafter/Flea market, Petting zoo, Train rides, Pedal pull, Tractor pull & Tractor/truck parade, draw down raffle, food concession and many other attractions. Starts at 6 a.m. with breakfast. And ends late evening after a fireworks show and live bands by the beer garden.
Liberty 5k Run/Walk
Start your Independence Day festivities early this year with some good fun and exercise! On July 3rd, the Morris Downtown Development Partnership (MDDP) will be bringing the 7th annual Liberty 5K Run/Walk back to downtown Morris! The Liberty Run 5K Run/Walk will take place at 7:15 p.m. in downtown Morris. Beginning at Liberty and Jefferson streets, the course will take you through Nostalgic Downtown Morris, area parks, neighborhoods and returns downtown on Liberty Street. The course is completely paved, primarily flat, with some slight hills for a fast and enjoyable race. The Liberty 5K is a chip timed race on a certified course. The event honors, supports and recognizes our military personnel. The race is free to attend. To participate, sign up by June 26 for only $25. (Later entries are $30). Your kids can have fun as well in our kids runs! Only $5 per child (registration on Race Day only).
Yorkville's 4th of July Celebration
The Yorkville Independence Day Parade steps off on Game Farm Road and proceeds to Somonauk Street, King Street, West Main Street, Church Street and ends at the water tower. Town Square activities begin immediately after the parade and will include children's foot races, rides, water fights, food vendors and a performance by the Yorkville Community Band. Fireworks begin at dusk near the corner of Rt. 47 and Countryside Pkwy. The Yorkville Big Band is scheduled to perform at 8 pm at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home. All 4th of July activities are free and open to the public. Food and drink are available for purchase.
Ribs on the River Weekend
The smell of BBQ ribs will be wafting around Bicentennial Riverfront Park as the city hosts its Annual Ribs on the River backyard BBQ Contest. Come all day for the food and stay to hear the following bands; Friday Night – Red Woody and Saturday – County Line Brothers, Back Country Roads and Whiskey Romance! The Ribs on the River event is back due to popular demand! This event will couple the best food, fun and friendly competition all in one great day. Bringing our backyard BBQ rib enthusiasts and those just looking for some good old fun, grill-masters will have the change to get their grill on and test their ribs on the public and the panel of judges. Ribs on the River is not for professionals or businesses, but those guys and gals who endure hours of work to perfect their ribs. Join us at our third annual event that ensures to have you licking your fingers for more at the end of the day! So whether you are in the mood to compete, eat ribs and have a refreshing drink, check out the vendors, enjoy the events at the river or listen to the band, there is something for everyone!
Sandwich Independence Day Weekend Celebration
Celebrate Independence Day weekend at the historic Sandwich Fairgrounds. Festivities begin at 10 am Saturday, July 2 with the Sandwich Park District’s Independence Day Parade, BBQ follows at the Fire Station and water fight competitions are scheduled for the afternoon. The fun continues with the Freedom Run 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run on Sunday morning, July 3 beginning at 8 am. Participants may register early or the day of the race. Lineup will take place at Knights Park. The weekend will end with a fabulous fireworks display at the Sandwich Fairgrounds on Sunday with gates opening at 6 pm. Fireworks will be set off at approximately 9:20 pm. A donation of $5.00 per car is suggested. For more information, contact the Sandwich Park District.
Yorkville Hometown Days Festival
The 2016 Hometown Days Festival is a family oriented event that provides entertainment the entire family can enjoy! We are excited to bring back again this year the past favorites such as the Pride and Joy Car Show, the Baby Contest, carnival, and live musical performances. We are also excited to announce the return of a 2015 crowd favorite – The Ultimate Air Dogs Show! Headliner entertainment all three days. Plano Oktoberfest is a traditional Oktoberfest just like in the old country! Do You polka?! Strap on your polka shoes, pack up grandma, grandpa and the kids and come to Plano Oktoberfest! Oktoberfest takes place rain or shine under a huge circus tent located on Main Street in downtown Plano. Oktoberfest features authentic German bands, a beer wagon with real German beers and wine, authentic traditional German food - Schnitzel, Roast Pork, Kassler Rippchen, Bratwurst, Potato Salad, Sauerkraut, Strudel and More! Managed by seasoned antiques dealers, this Second Sunday market of antiques and collectibles has helped to define Sandwich, Illinois as a destination location for both the casual visitor and the sophisticated collector. Riverfest Taste of Ottawa
Let's rock on the river! LaSalle County’s largest festival, Ottawa’s Annual Riverfest, celebrates summer with a bang! Carnival rides, art shows, craft and flea markets, kids activities, sidewalk sales, music and the now famous Taste of Ottawa all come together at the fest. Plano will be celebrating in super-style. This family-friendly festival commemorates the summer of 2011 when Superman’s enemies came to town and destroyed it during filming of the blockbuster movie, “Man of Steel.” Popular events include the Superman Zipline, the Villian’s Jail, live bands throughout the weekend, old-fashioned children’s games, rock climbing wall, inflatables for the kids and several contests. The Smallville Museum where many different movie and Superman artifacts are housed will be open during the festival. Take advantage of the photo opportunity with the full size statue of Henry Cavill as Superman. See also the cool cars of Cruise Night, live bands and beer tent.

"The pizza is divine - sweet tomato sauce, flaky thin crispy crust, lots of gooey cheese with some spices sprinkled on top. Extra cheese is not really necessary because they are plenty generous. It's simply delicious."
The Sandwich Fair (DeKalb County Fair) is the oldest continuing fair in the State of Illinois. It brings over 175,000 visitors to the Sandwich Fairgrounds every year with harness races, draft horse pulls, carnival rides, demo derby, grandstand shows and the Midwest’s largest display of agricultural and home arts exhibits. It’s a traditional fair with the awesome fun of a modern theme park. The Sandwich Fair is quaint, old-fashioned fun – a great place to stay connected. There’s something for everyone! Join the fun! Starved Rock Walkers Club
Join the fun on our weekly, guided hikes! Explore Starved Rock State Park, Matthiessen State Park, the I & M Canal and a nearby Nature Preserve. Every Thursday morning, year round, the Starved Rock Walkers Club meets in the lobby of the Lodge and departs at 9:00 am. Hikes last between 2 and 3 hours, depending on the destination. The hikes vary each week and over a 4-month period, the group will see the entire park. Make some new friends and learn about wildlife, wildflowers and more. This event is free and open to the public. Please note: We will not hike on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve. Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Every Thursday (year round).
Music at the Backdoor Lounge - Starved Rock
