Autumn Inspirations a Wine & Food Pairing Event
Celebrate the bountiful fall harvest with seasonally inspired dishes during a progressive tasting along the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail. Member wineries have created savory autumn inspired dishes and paired them with their award-winning wines to enhance the flavors of both the wine and the food. This is a fun way to showcase how wine plays the perfect supporting role to our everyday meals.
Shawnee Hills Wine Trail 20th Anniversary Gala
Celebrate 20 incredible years of friends, fun, and especially, fantastic Illinois wines!! We are pulling out all the stops – and all the wines – for this gala event. Enjoy 24 different wine samples from our member wineries. You will be able to swirl, sip and savor these award-winning wines paired with wonderful hors d’oeuvres prepared by our catering partners Cristaudo’s and Great Boars of Fire. A wine pull, live music from Kevin Lucas and guest speakers will also be featured at the celebration. Tickets: $30.00 per person.
“The Third Testament,” the annual Holy Boulders Bouldering Competition
Nestled on a hillside in Pomona, IL, the Holy Boulders is a world-class climbing area offering classic lines of all grades on perfectly textured sandstone. The bouldering competition will help promote access to some of the finest sandstone bouldering in the country, the climbing area is known as “The Holy Boulders.” Last year the ICA’s Holy Boulders competition brought together over 200 competitors from 7 states and raised $15,000 to permanently secure climbing access at the Holy Boulders.
Christmas in Carterville
This annual Christmas celebration encompasses the entire downtown area of Carterville. Santa and his helpers will be on hand for photos. There will be hot chocolate and cookies, caroling, chili supper, gingerbread contest, festival of trees, Sugar Plum Dance Fairies, face painting, Candy Land Path, Horse and Carriage rides and much much more. This event is held in downtown Carterville.
Union County Colorfest
Enjoy the fall color of the Shawnee National Forest and guided home tours. Shop at local orchards and farm markets and art and craft fairs. Sample wine along the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, participate in the fun run or biathlon race.
John A. Logan College Autumn Fest

HalloWine at StarView Vineyards
Live music, wine tasting, nacho & chili bar & other goodies. Come dressed to impress in your best costume for a chance to win prizes. We'll be judging individual, couple & group costumes. Pets & children are invited too!
Veterans Day Parade
Parade begins at 2pm from the Anna City Park entrance on Davie St. and follows Main St. to Jefferson St. and back to the park. The Anna VFW post invites everyone back to the lodge for hot dogs and chili.
Tour de Shawnee Bike ride
Bicyclists meet at the Olive Branch Community Center at 8 AM. Organized bike routes of 15, 30, 45, 62 and 100 mile rides around scenic Horseshoe Lake and area. Entry fee includes: Event bag, chance for attendance prizes. Early registration includes commemorative t shirt.
Bald Eagle Watching in the Cache River Wetlands
The Cache River Wetlands offers great opportunities for eagle watching, as well as spotting other birds. The Cache River Wetland Center provides resource and identification materials to help you spot eagles and other birds in the area and along the rivers. They will provide maps and directions to the viewing station for the nest just off Illinois Route 37 off Perks road and south of the visitor's center.
