Holiday Vignettes at the Mansion
Tour the Hegeler Carus Mansion with the maid and visit with the Hegeler family & their friends in period dress as each room will give you a different peek into the Victorian Holidays. The halls are decorated for the occasion. Tickets include a 1 hour tour with a festive beverage from the wine cellar & holiday cookies. Tours will begin at 6pm and every 15 minutes after.

The TR! Show
Derek Evans presents "The TR! Show" at our November session. Mr. Evans brings to life the dynamic character of Theodore Roosevelt. Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt, the youngest President of the United States, was one of the most interesting men who ever lived! Thursday, November 20, 2014, 5:30–8:30 p.m., reservations required. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.
Music at the Mansion: Lyric Winds Chamber Ensemble
Hegeler Carus Mansion presents Lyric Winds Chamber Ensemble November 21 at 5:45pm, $5 per person. Sue Gillio, Oglesby native and La Salle-Peru HS graduate, is the flute instructor at Illinois Valley Community College, owner of Music Suite 408 in Peru, and Director of the Illinois Valley Flute Ensemble. She received her BA and MA from Western Illinois University with emphasis in flute performance where she studied with Gerald Carey. She is Principal Flute with the Illinois Valley Symphony.
Oglesby Turkey Trot 3 Mile
The 3 Mile Run is a Starved Rock Runners, Ltd. Circuit Race. The 36th Annual Oglesby 3 Mile Turkey Trot, in memory of Chris Christian, begins and ends at Holy Family School at 9am.
Bald Eagle Watch Weekend
"Eagle Watch Weekend" includes activites both at the Starved Rock Lodge and the Illinois Waterway Visitors Center. You don’t have to travel north to see these majestic birds of prey. Thousands of eagles migrate south from Canada during the winter and Illinois is one of the homes of the greatest population of wintering bald eagles. For a birds eye view, hike to the top of the Rock.

Dinner & A Little History in LaSalle
Topic: "The TR! Show". Derek Evans presents "The TR! Show" at our November session. Mr. Evans brings to life the dynamic character of Theodore Roosevelt. Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, the youngest President of the United States, was one of the most interesting men who ever lived. Throughout his life he was a cattle rancher, deputy sheriff, historian, naturalist, explorer, author of 35 books, police commissioner, assistant secretary of the Navy, governor of New York, war hero, lawyer, and the first American to win a Nobel Prize. Speaker, Mr. Evans was trained for the theatre at Northwestern University, New York University, and the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. As manager and director of the Monarch Theatre Company, he brought Shakespeare, Opera, and literary adaptations to schools throughout the American Midwest. Victorian Christmas at the Reddick Mansion
The Reddick Mansion will be decked out in it's Victorian Christmas Decor and open for tours! Activities for this weekend include: gingerbread house making, holiday music, photos with Santa, and a walk-through a life size gingerbread house! The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
A play based on the book written by Barbara Robinson in 1971. It tells the story of Imogene, Claude, Ralph, Leroy, Ollie, and Gladys, six delinquent children surnamed Herdman. They go to church for the first time after being told that the church offers snacks. Despite protests from other church members, they are given roles in the Sunday school's Christmas play, in which they tell the Christmas story in a non-conventional fashion.
Christmas Trolley Lights Tour
Relax before the holidays on this illuminated tour of the LaSalle, Peru, Oglesby and Utica area, just days before Christmas. Let the staff plan the route and do the driving so you can enjoy light displays in our fully enclosed trolley. The trolleys are heated but you may want to bring along an extra blanket. Each tour will have a guide to get into the holiday spirit through some Christmas carols and songs. Tours run from 6-8pm and reservations are a must.
New Year's Eve Overnight at Starved Rock Lodge
Join the party and stay the night on New Year's Eve-Dec. 31, 2014. Stay a night at the historic Starved Rock Lodge where the New Year's Eve party takes place in the Great Hall and Starved Rock Room. The two-sided fireplace is aglow and the ambiance is warm and inviting. The cocktail hour begins with an open bar and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a New Year's Eve Dinner Buffet, a champagne toast at midnight, 1:00 am pastries and brunch on New Year`s Day. Two live bands performing during the evening to keep you entertained!
Breakfast with Santa
Join the jolliest man, as well as the Mrs., for a breakfast buffet at Starved Rock Lodge. Following breakfast, you'll be treated to "Magic by Cory". Also attending will be "Grace" a white-tailed deer from the Furry Friends. Children may take turns sitting on Santa's lap to tell him their Christmas wishes and receive a chocolate treat. Enjoy brunch and meet Santa between 8:30am and 11:30am. $15.50 adults & $11.95 children under 10.

Hike into History
This hiking tour is offered on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights every month (excluding July and October). There's nothing better than a guided hike to see the best parts of the park and learn its rich history. Reserve your room or cabin at Starved Rock Lodge on Tuesday or Wednesday night and take a guided hike on Wednesday or Thursday morning at 9:00 am from the Lobby. When you get back from your hike, you'll enjoy lunch in the Dining Room. The hike on Tuesday and Wednesday will go to Starved Rock and French Canyon unless otherwise requested. On Thursday you will join the weekly Walkers Club and go along with them on their pre-scheduled, weekly hike. Family Cabins are excluded from packages.

Historic Trolley Tour
June through December. Board a trolley outside of the Great Hall area of the Lodge. Enjoy a historic trolley ride with stops at the Starved Rock State Park Visitor Center where you will see a short video of the area. You will also travel to the Illinois Waterway Visitor Center where you will see Starved Rock from across the river and watch as the river traffic lock through the locks. You will also travel through the village of Utica and hear about the Illinois and Michigan Canal. While aboard, the driver will narrate the history and legends of the area.
