34th Annual YMCA/FHN Triathlon
This 34st annual event includes a 400 meter indoor swim, a 17 mile bike ride, and a 3.1 mile run. Individual age divisions include: 17 years and under, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, and over 60. There is also a team option of males, females and co-ed teams. 10th Annual Pilot's Reunion
Aviation enthusiasts opportunity to visit with old time pilots and view pilot and plane memorabilia. Over 300 private pilots trained in Stockton at a country airstrip from 1930-1960. Jake Rausch will present on the Eighth Air Force out of Tibethan AFB in Norwich, England.
NW IL Art Fest
Juried art fest with artists arriving from throughout the tri-state area to showcase and sell their work. Food vendors will be on hand to add to the festivities.

October 3, ORANGEVILLE EDUCATION FOUNDATION 5K TRAIL RUN. Richland Creek Trailhead, 8 am. Join in a 5K run on the Jane Addams Trail to benefit the Orangeville schools. The scenic route follows Richland Creek; it is a flat, out and back course on a crushed limestone surface. Refreshments after the race for participants, plus door prizes, goody bags and more. 155th Annual Jo Daviess County Fair
Celebrate with the oldest fair in Illinois. Livestock shows, exhibits, tractor pull, draft horse pull, motocross and ATV races, live entertainment, fair foods, carnival rides and more.
Join in an old-fashioned cruise through downtown from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. There will be live music by The Old 57’s on the FHN Stage, the Baumgartner Automotive food court offers a variety of tasty choices, and contests. There will be a Motorcycle parking area, two main parking lots for the classic cars, and cruising all night long. In addition, downtown restaurants PJ’s Stephenson Street Station, and the Union Dairy. PJ’s will also offer live music from 8 pm to Midnight plus they will have a pulled pork sandwich meal from 11 am until 8 pm. Souvenir t-shirts and 50/50 raffle tickets will be available at the Information Booth.

Spencer Tracy Film Festival
Spencer Tracy, one of Hollywood’s most cherished actors, comes home to Freeport where his parents lived and where he enjoyed many happy times as a child. Four prized films will be presented on the historic Lindo Theatre’s big screen: Friday the 21st "San Francisco" 7 pm; Saturday the 22nd two showings; 1pm "Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde" and 7pm "Without Love" and on Sunday the 23rd " Father of the Bride"

Music On Chicago
Enjoy Freeport’s historic downtown with this music fest featuring two bands, great food and a beer garden. The June concert features “Rock on Chicago” with Mr. Big “Stuff”. The July concert features “Jazz on Chicago” with the Mary J. Harris Swing Band and Freeport Jazz Orchestra. The August concert features “Rockabilly and Blues on Chicago” with Jimmy Nick and Dirty Fishnet Stockings. The first band starts at 6 pm and the second band at 8 pm. Also enjoy the Open Air Market on Chicago Avenue, adjacent to Music on Chicago – open 4 pm to Dusk. Adults: $5; Children Under 21 must be accompanied by an adult.
Gardens United Garden Walk
Some of the finest gardens in the Freeport area are opened for touring. The gardeners generously present their creative efforts for the pleasure of the public. Walk through the gardens and enjoy the colorful scenery. Plus a silent auction and a large variety of garden art items will be offered at one garden. Gardeners will be on site to answer questions and to talk about plants and their gardens.
Illinois Game and Pet Breeders Fall Swap Meet
This swap meet involves the buying, selling and trading of game birds, animals, pets and supplies. Vendors will also be available with local honey, garden plants, flowers, and a small flea market. Events opens at 6 am. Gate Fee: $3.00 per person over the age of 12.

Silver Creek and Stephenson Railroad and Silvercreek Museum Labor Day Celebration
All aboard the antique steam train as a 36 ton, 1912 Heisler steam locomotive pulls three cabooses, and two passenger flatcars for a four mile ride through farmlands and across a bridge 30 feet above Yellow Creek. Purchase your ticket at the Silver Creek Depot, a turn-of-the-century replica filled with railroad artifacts. Browse for novelties in the Freight House and visit the Silvercreek Museum which offers 25 rooms of early Americana, a display of antique machinery, Henney Motor Company vehicles which were manufactured in Freeport, and the operating Cooper-Corliss engine, a giant 130 ton steam engine.
