Kick off the holiday season and create your special memories on The Magnificent Mile! The BMO Harris Bank Magnificent Mile Lights Festival, the nation’s largest evening holiday celebration, jump starts the holiday season with a full day of family friendly activities, concerts by top musical artists and the best holiday shopping. The day’s excitement culminates with a grand evening parade down Michigan Avenue illuminating one million lights on 200 trees. The parade concludes with a grand finale fireworks show over the Chicago River.
The Christkindlmarket is a four-week, open-air market modeled after the famous Nuremberg Christmas market dating back to 1545. The market offers shopping opportunities and serves as a winter wonderland meeting place for family and friends. Plus, enjoy German delicacies like brats, goulash and potato pancakes while you’re there.
The Cache River Wetlands offers great opportunities for eagle watching, as well as spotting other birds. The Cache River Wetland Center provides resource and identification materials to help you spot eagles and other birds in the area and along the rivers. They will provide maps and directions to the viewing station for the nest just off Illinois Route 37 off Perks road and south of the visitor's center.

Come experience Du Quoin Tourism’s transformation of the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds into a magical place with lights and decorations. The event features a 1 1/2-mile drive through over $250,000 worth of lighted displays as well as decorated trees, entertainment, food, crafts and visits with Santa in the Expo Hall. The light trail opens nightly from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m., and the Expo Hall will be open on the second and third weekends in December from 5:30 — 9:30 p.m. The Expo Hall features Santa’s train ride and Santa’s Workshop.
Holly Days, sponsored by the Warrenville Park District is the City's annual holiday celebration that marks Santa's official entry into Warrenville. Guests can enjoy a warm bonfire, raffles, free horse and carriage rides, hot cider and cookies, and, of course, a visit with Santa. Local Park District and school dance troops, singers, and bands entertain attendees during the event. It is at this event that Warrenville officially turns on its holiday lights creating an array of colors for passersby along Route 56 to see. Holly Days, primarily for Warrenville residents, gives the community an opportunity to come together and kick off the holiday season.

Sled demo times are 9:30am,12pm, and 3pm and are located at the Southwest end of the Starved Rock State Park Visitor's Center Parking Lot. Seminar times are 10:30am and 1:30pm and will be in the LaSalle Room in Starved Rock Lodge.
Actress, comedian, singer, game show host — Vicki Lawrence has done it all. In 1973, she began her musical career with her hit single, “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia”. She then went on to star in her own TV series “Mama’s Family”, which aired until January of 1990. She also became one of few successful female game show hosts when she took on “Win, Lose or Draw”. She has since appeared in a wide variety of productions, and now travels all over the country speaking to women’s organizations about her life and career, women’s health, and being a woman in a man’s world. All the while she approaches everything with her characteristic sense of humor, reminding us all that “Life is much too serious to be taken seriously!”

Set in a gas station and diner, the “Double Cupp Diner”, on Highway 57 somewhere between Frog Level and Smyrna, NC, the musical stars four gas station attendants and two waitresses who sing and play all manner of instruments including kitchen utensils. The music is a quirky, highly imaginative blend of country, rockabilly, swing, rock and roll and jazz. One selection, “The Night Dolly Parton Was Almost Mine”, reached number 67 on the Hot Country Songs charts. Subsequent productions have been seen across the country including long runs in Chicago, the award--winning run at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and now the Effingham Performance Center.
