Kankakee County Fair
Let's spend a day at the fair. Go to the time-honored livestock shows, play some games, enter contests, enjoy the exciting live entertainment, be brave and ride on the carnival rides, or feast on the fair food; but don't forget to see the demolition derby or rodeo.
The Warrior Dash in Channahon, IL is the world's largest running series. Held on challenging and rugged terrain, people come from all over to participate in feats of courage and strength; like sprinting over fire, trudging through mud and scaling at least 12 obstacles during this fierce 5K. From couch potatoes to novice runners to extreme athletes, Warrior Dash truly is an event for all athletic abilities.
Bourbonnais Friendship Festival
During the five days of fun, rides, games, shows, beer garden, parades, teen Idol, baby contest and more. You are bound to see astronauts, Martians, the Jetsons, Buzz Lightyear, Luke Skywalker and more as you orbit the festival grounds.
Guardian Angel Bassett Bash & Waddle
Join in for two days of fun, friends and fundraising to help our favorite four-legged friends. This event, held at the Guardian Angel Basset Rescue Park in Dwight, will raise money for the Guardian Angel Basset Rescue to help Basset Hounds in need of a home. The 'Largest Basset gathering in the World' includes a picnic, 'bassetball' and waddle. A weekend filled with Bassett’s, games, contests, entertainment & the huge finale of the Bassett Waddle with hundreds of Bassett’s leading off the Harvest Day’s Parade.
This is a 3 day extravaganza of wild entertainment such as Local H, Puddle of MUDD on Thursday, Salt-n-Pepa and Vanilla Ice on Friday. As well as RaeLynn, Josh Thompson and Aaron Tippin on Saturday. But lets not forget, included in this event will be a carnival car, truck & motorcycle show, BBQ competition, bean bag competition and much more!
Red Carpet Corridor Festival- Dwight
Part of the Red Carpet Corridor Festival that stretches 90 miles. Dwight has community garage sales, contests and the Becker/Texaco Station will be open for tours. Also in the Basset Dog Park is the annual Springfest featuring BBQ contests, crafters, and entertainment.
"Concerts On The Hill"
Relax on the big grassy hill at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park & Theatre while enjoying a variety of free family entertainment every Thursday, June 4 through August 27. Enjoy tasty, affordable concessions in a scenic setting along the waterway. Great $2 hot dogs! Picnic baskets welcome. Bring blankets and chairs for hill seating. Free parking. Dwight Harvest Days
Downtown Dwight is the place to be for crafts, flea markets, carnival and kids games, downtown stage full of entertainment, car show, 5K run, parade and band competition are highlights of the weekend, attracting over 10,000 people each year! Sunday's parade is led by hundreds of basset hounds and their owners from around the world.
Kankakee River Fishing Derby
Come out for the Annual Kankakee River Valley Fishing Derby! The Kankakee is a clean river that is a popular destination for recreational canoeing and fishing for warm-water species such as smallmouth bass, channel catfish, walleye and northern pike. Our fishing derby is a ten-day event providing exciting fun for the whole family and cash prizes are awarded for tagged fish.
Visit the Museum Campus at Small Memorial Park from 10-4 for grounds filled with vendors, music, contests, pies, and lovely gardens. The one room school house and the memorial home of Dr. A.L. Small, built in 1855 and boyhood home of Lennington Small, Governor of Illinois from 1921-1929, will be open.
Merchant Street Music Festival

Joliet Public Library's 6th Annual Star Wars Days
Visit Downtown Joliet for a weekend filled with family fun & Star Wars! The 501st Legion and Rebel Legion will be there in costume. They are international fan-based Star Wars™ organizations dedicated to the construction and wearing of screen-accurate costumes. Held at Joliet Main Library from 11am - 4pm. Prize giveaways, kids games, costumed characters, live music, food vendors, artists, exhibitors, movie prop exhibits and more! Homer Community Festival
Homerfest! 4 Days of Family Fun! Huge Carnival. Live Bands. Family friendly beer tent and fireworks. Thursday will be the biggest show yet. Music choreographed ground and air show set to your favorite movie themes.
Buzz the Gut Cruise Night & Car Show
"Let's Buzz the Gut"- A common term used by the youth of many generations for cruising the downtown and outlying areas of Dwight. Enjoy classic cars on display, food vendors, displays, music. Car awards at 8pm. Over 100 cars entered.
Pause for Patriotism
The Mission of the "Pause for Patriotism" Committee is: to instill a Love of our Country, demonstrate an attachment to the land and people, an admiration for our customs and traditions, and a devotion to the welfare of our Country, in our children and their families through the annual "Armed Forces Day" celebration and other activities throughout the year. There will also be great entertainment, food, and beverages for people all ages.
Bike and Dine Lockport
Meet in Lockport at the South Public Landing Parking Lot (10th Street and the Canal) at 9:45 a.m. Ride with guides starts at 10:00 a.m. 2 - 10 mile loops or 2 - 15 mile loops (rider preference). Cruisin Into Lockport Car Show & Concert
Sponsored by the City of Lockport, Lockport Township Park District, and Lockport Township Government, the Cruisin’ Into Lockport Classic Car Show will return for another great season on Central Square. Come see the finest classic cars of not only Lockport, but from a tri-county area. There will be a different featured car every week (although all makes and models are welcome). Every Monday night 6:30pm-8:30pm - come out for a car show and a different live band each week. Enjoy food vendors, face painting and lots for the kids to do. Free event!
Frankfort Fall Festival
The Frankfort Fall Festival is ranked in the top 15 shows to visit by Sunshine Artist. There are 300 artisan from 30 states selling hand-crafted items at our show which includes local civic organizations selling food items, a carnival, entertainment and a community parade.
Red Carpet Corridor Event -Joliet Area Historical Museum - 2015 Free Days!
The Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau will be sponsoring Free Days at the Joliet Area Historical Museum, as part of the 9th Annual Red Carpet Corridor events on May 2 & 3, 2015. Joliet—Saturday: The Route 66 Visitor’s Center at the Joliet Area Historical Museum will be open from 8am to 5pm. Sunday: The Route 66 Visitor’s Center at the Joliet Area Historical Museum will be open from noon to 5pm. Come for discounted admission to the Route 66 Experience portion of the Joliet Area Historical Museum. Discounted rates will be available on these days for RCC attendees desiring to experience the Museum’s galleries. It is all about family fun on the most famous road in America - Route 66. This year’s event will be Saturday, May 2, from 8 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday, May 3, from 8 AM to 3 PM. Sponsored by the twelve communities which make up the 90-mile linear museum from Joliet to Towanda, the annual festival invites everyone to experience the good life in the slow lane. Each community will produce its own events. From full-blown festivals to antique and craft sales, art sales, car and motorcycle shows, live entertainments, and plenty of yard, garage, and sidewalk sales along the way, everyone is sure to discover something unique. Food, snacks and treats will be in abundance, and there are plenty of historic sites, outstanding free museums and unique mom & pop businesses to help create a nostalgic journey for all to enjoy. Visitors can simply enjoy the drive, stop and have their picture taken with Elvis, or do a little shopping in any of the great stores along the Mother Road.
City of Morris Concerts on the Courthouse Lawn
The Neverly Brothers kick off the 2015 season! Join this popular event every other Thursday this summer for a concert on the Grundy County Courthouse Lawn. Every concert will feature a different performance from the area. Admission is free! Season runs from June 4 through August 13.
Old Mill Fall Fest
This event gives the public a chance to see the 70 foot Mill which was built in 1872 and view the unique construction inside on the first two floors. Participants will be demonstrating all old time crafts.
Taste of Dwight
Held in Renfrew Park, member businesses may set up displays showcasing their business. Local restaurants also are set up selling food from their establishments. Entertainment and children's games also.
Amateur Rib Cook Off
Enjoy the favorite rib recipes cooked on site; public tasting of ribs from Noon until 2:00 PM. Live entertainment. This event is co-sponsored with the Frankfort Area Jaycees. ($1/Rib Piece) 12-2PM.
Monee Fall Fest
There is no place like Monee for fun. Free admission & parking. Great bands, food & beer garden. Parade carnival and family entertainment. Spectacular fireworks display.
