Tough Mudder 2016

Fever River Railroad/Stephenson Society of Model Trainmen Open House
For model railroad aficionados and everyone else who ever enjoyed model trains, this is something to see. The Fever River Railroad is a 103 by 24 foot scale model of a hypothetical railroad. The railroad intersects with models of "real" railroads, each of which can be operated independently. Up to 20 trains can be operating at one time. Industries along the railroad right-of-way duplicate either actual facilities or are typically correct of the industries that would be found in the Upper Midwest. The scenery represents the geographical area as well. A collection of railroad memorabilia and pictures are on display.

Art in the Park - Freeport
Join the Freeport Park District and the Freeport Art Museum as they welcome back the 9th annual, award winning Art in the Park. This annual craft show features the works of more than 300 crafters and artists displayed in booths, buildings and tents at the Boone County Fairgrounds. This show has a reputation for featuring hand-crafted, quality, original work. Vendors go through a juried application process, enabling us to provide you with an outstanding display of folk art, wood carving, dried florals, pottery, painted and appliqued clothing, jewelry, fine art and much more.
Silver Creek and Stephenson Railroad and Silvercreek Museum Labor Day Celebration
All aboard the antique steam train as a 36 ton 1912 Heisler steam locomotive pulls three cabooses and two passenger flatcars for a four mile ride through farmlands and across a bridge 30 feet above Yellow Creek. Purchase your ticket at the Silver Creek Depot, a turn-of-the-century replica filled with railroad artifacts. Browse for novelties in the Freight House and visit the Silvercreek Museum which offers 25 rooms of early Americana, a display of antique machinery, Henney Motor Company vehicles which were manufactured in Freeport, and the operating Cooper-Corliss engine, a giant 130 ton steam engine. Adventures with Clifford the Big Red Dog - Discovery Center Museum
Something big and red is coming to Discovery Center - Adventures with Clifford The Big Red Dog traveling exhibition. Board the Birdwell Island ferry and journey to the world of Clifford, America's beloved big red dog with a heart to match. See Emily Elizabeth and many of the residents of Birdwell Island where playing, working together, and respecting others is all part of being a member of the community. The exhibit is sure to delight young and old alike. Slide down Clifford's tail, work together to fill Clifford's big dog bowl with bones, hunt for sea shells at T-Bone's beach or "work" in the fish and chip shop on Birdwell Island and more. No matter what activity they choose, children will learn valuable life lessons through play. This exhibit is based on Scholastic's top-rated TV Show Clifford the Big Red Dog on PBS Kids® and from the award-winning author Norman Bridwell. Today, the best-selling book series consists of more than 160 Clifford titles and 100 million books in print! The exhibition will be at Discovery Center through May 15 and all signage is in both English and Spanish.
4th Annual Crusin’ To The Dairy Car Show

Rochelle Cinco de Mayo Celebration
The City of Rochelle is sponsoring a Cinco de Mayo event at the Downtown Rochelle Gazebo from 4-10 pm on Saturday May 2nd. The event is open to the public and will include authentic food; arts and crafts; music and dance demonstrations; and a Chihuahua parade and race throughout the evening.

Birdfest 2016 - Sand Bluff Bird Observatory
Birdfest is a festival celebrating wild birds during the time when they migrate through our area. Sand Bluff Bird Observatory will be capturing wild birds, putting a band on their leg and releasing them. There are many kids' events and exhibits, and you will have a chance to see the birds up close!

Coronado Performing Arts Center - The Beach Boys
As The Beach Boys mark more than a half century of making music, the group continues to ride the crest of a wave unequalled in America's musical history. Since lead-singer Mike Love penned the lyrics to The Beach Boys' first hit, "Surfin'" (1961), dozens of the bands chart toppers have become eternal anthems of American youth: "Surfin' USA," "Surfer Girl, "Fun, Fun, Fun, "I Get Around, "California Girls, "Help Me Rhonda, "Barbara Ann, "Good Vibrations, "Wouldn't It Be Nice, "Rock and Roll Music" and "Kokomo."
Coronado Performing Arts Center - Rodney Carrington
Rodney Carrington is a multitalented comedian, actor, and writer who has recorded eight major record label comedy albums selling over 3 million copies. Rodney starred in his own TV sitcom Rodney, which ran for two seasons on ABC. According to Pollstar, Rodney has been one of the top ten highest grossing touring comedians for the last ten years and among the top 4 or 5 the last several years. He regularly peforms to sold out crowds across the US and Canada.
Making Their Mark: Illinois Women Artists, 1940-1960
This exhibition, curated by Channey Lyons with assistance from the Peoria Riverfront Museum, explores a period in Illinois art history through artworks that are often overlooked. These works, created by women artists during the 1940s and 1950s are highly personal, subjective, and occasionally visionary or politically charged in ways that both resonate with the familiar currents of Chicago modernism and offer new dimensions to that story. Making Their Mark features sixty paintings, sculptures, and works on paper by forty artists.
14th Annual Lincoln Douglas 5K and Fun Run
A series of short distances for children begins at 8 am: ages 8 and under – 100 yards; 9 to 10 – 200 yards; 11 to 12 – 400 yards. All finishers receive ribbons. The boy and girl winners of each age group will run a 100-yard dash following the 5K to determine “The Fasted Kid in Town!”. A One Mile Fun Run begins at 8:15 am. The course consists of one loop around the historic paved road inside Taylor Park. This is an untimed run and all finishers receive ribbons. The 5K begins at 8:35 am. The course consists of three loops around the paved road inside Taylor Park, a 5K (3.1 miles), wheel-measured certified course that is flat and fast designed to help runners achieve a personal best.
9th Annual Pee-Wee Classic Tournament
Up to 16 teams of 8 year old and younger boys from throughout the Midwest play in this annual tournament and the coaches pitch.
Rasmus Memorial Fun Fly
Freeport RC Modelers sponsor this spring fun fly. Pilots from around the area will fly a variety of aircraft including gas, glow and electric-powered. It’s a picnic atmosphere, free and open to the public. A grill is available. Rain date is May 15
