Historic Marbold Second Sunday Summer Series
Special programs in the farmstead kitchen: 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Enjoy a lesson in history, tours of the house and grounds along with period craftsmen on site. This Sunday features Dick Lyons, a native of Montgomery County and fourth-generation farmer growing corn, soybeans, and wheat with cover crops, will share his knowledge of farming practices dating from the 1800's to today's technological world of modern agriculture. A special added feature at the June Second Sunday will be Heart Strings, a dulcimer group from Petersburg.

July 12 features Eastern Illinois University Associate Professor, Dr. Chris Laingen, will share data from the Census of Agriculture from 1925 to 2012 and will illustrate the changes in crops, livestock, and land use that have occurred in the Corn Belt. A special added feature at the July Second Sunday will be the Menard County Vintage Ag Association on site with some of their collection of farm implements.

Clayville Spring Festival

The iconic image of Abraham Lincoln appears in various forms among the collections of the Illinois State Museum. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the death of Abraham Lincoln and his funeral in Springfield, this exhibition will feature rarely seen objects that honor the memory of our 16th president. Highlights include a hair work necklace worn by the wife of Lincoln’s bodyguard on funeral train from Washington D.C. to Springfield, a life-size sculpture of the president by Lorado Taft, and a mysterious painting of the president bearing a cross on his forehead.

A Fiendish Assassination
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum unveils a breathtaking collection of items related to Lincoln’s murder and funeral in an exhibit called “A Fiendish Assassination.” Opening April 2, the exhibit includes many items that have never been seen by the public before, including two medallions that adorned Lincoln’s hearse.
Triathlon-Stovepipe Sprint and Railsplitter Triathlon

Morgan Horse Demonstration
Mississippi Valley Morgan Horse Club (MVMHC) will present historic demonstrations of the Morgan Horse, "America's first breed," Also included will be demonstrations of modern uses of the Morgan horse, including trail riding, dressage, driving and society horse shows. There will be ongoing horse activities to observe between sessions, a large variety of free educational and promotional materials for adults and kids, and an opportunity to visit with MVMHC members and get up close to the beautiful Morgan horses.
Governor Duncan Christmas Gala
Governor Duncan Christmas Gala at Hamiltons’s. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. Gala features silent and live auctions. Tables of 8 are available for $320.00, single tickets are $40.00 each. Entertainment will be provided by Sherri Mitchell, vocalist, accompanying herself at the piano, a holiday sing-along and a special appearance by Dr. E.C. Bone.
United Warriors Xtreme Race
The United Warriors Xtreme Race is a 5K run with 14 extreme obstacles thrown into the mix to provide a rigorous yet fun challenge for all of you thrill seekers out there! Can you handle the sandpit craw, balance beams, hanging tires, dark tunnels, hay bale jumps, rope walk, tire run, mud pit and more?
The 5th Anniversary of this free street festival will begin at noon with a ribbon cutting ceremony. On the Club Station House Main Stage we are thrilled to welcome some of Springfield’s favorite bands including Shenanigans, Thornhill, Hurricane Ruth, and Looming as well as the Capital City Men’s Chorus. The evening will close out with a Drag Show featuring award winning performers. On Stage 2, which is under a big tent with tables and chairs for visiting with your friends, there will be acoustic performances, a juggling act, and other fun acts. Springfield PrideFest 2015 will offer vendors with merchandise, information and a great selection of food, soft drinks, beer and mixed drinks. 49th Annual Virginia Bar-B-Que
Join the celebration of summer with activities for all on the downtown courthouse lawn. Opening ceremonies begin on Friday evening and events continue through Sunday's final Nashville Country act on the stage. Annual Abe’s River Race
Abe’s Canoe Race is a celebration on the beautiful Sangamon River that led a young Abraham Lincoln to settle in New Salem and, of course, the rest is history. This event features a 19 mile canoe/kayak race for the serious competitors along with a gentle float for adults and families on a shorter course. This is a great way to see the river that is largely undeveloped and unchanged. Following the race, you’ll want to take in the fun at Riverbank Lodge for the Awards Ceremony, fresh grilled food, live music and drinks.
