Monticello Railway Museum Father's Day Weekend
Fathers tour the train shed, then climb aboard a 1950s diesel powered train for an eight mile hour long round trip ride. Fathers ride free when accompanied by son or daughter. Reservations required.
Bement Old Glory Festival
Located in the beautiful City Park and lawns of the Bryant Cottage State Historic Site and Historic Bryant Home, the Old Glory Festival celebrates Bement’s patriotic and agricultural heritage by hosting 50+ events the second Saturday of every June. Events include patriotic themed events, live music, food, cricket spittin’ contest, stagecoach rides, camel rides, petting zoo, antique tractor show, classic car show, plus much more. Many events are free throughout the day. Bement’s Old Glory Festival is one small town festival you don’t want to miss. The event is from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Monticello Christian Academy's 9th Annual Praise in the Park
Bring lawn chairs and blankets out to Piatt County Forest Preserve Park from Noon-7pm – the grills will be fired up with pork chop sandwiches and hot dogs. There will also be sno-cones, popcorn, fun games, balloons and a bounce house. Schedule to include worship and live contemporary Christian music.
Monticello Railway Museum Fireworks Train
Ride the train from downtown Monticello to museum site to view the aerial fireworks at 8pm. Food tent. Reservations required.

The Polar Express at Monticello Railway Museum
Held at Monticello Railway Museum. Read along with the story as the train makes its round-trip journey to the North Pole. Meet Santa and enjoy caroling, hot chocolate, surprises and a treat. And, for those who believe, a special gift for each child. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas! Nov 14-15, Nov 21-22, Nov 28-30 & Dec 5-6.
Whites of Spring
Celebrate the coming of Spring in downtown historic Monticello. Enjoy the fun as our participating downtown restaurants and shops will be serving a different sampling of a white wine or other libation. There will be lots of specials going on in the businesses, as well. This is a ticketed event.
U of I Credit Union Concert Series at Allerton Park – Barn Dance
Held at the Allerton Music Barn at Allerton Park & Retreat Center and serving food and drink from 5:30pm-8:30pm. Hootenanny Bluegrass Acts include BowDacious String Band 6-7pm, Sam Payne and Friends 7-8pm & The Curses 8pm-9pm.

Trail-Glo 5K at Allerton Park
Come experience Allerton After Dark and see the park in a whole new light! 2014 will see the inaugural Trail-Glo 5K race, starting and finishing near the Visitor Center. This unique and brand new event is being hosted by the Allerton Trails Half Marathon & 10K Race. You’ll follow illuminated trail markings under a waxing crescent moon (we checked), accumulating extra glow as you go. You’ll also pass right through the nighttime magic of the Sunken Garden, Chinese Musicians, Rodin’s Adam, and more, as you make your way to a finish area full of surprises, s’mores and music! All proceeds go to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois.

Petals & Paintings
Krannert Art Museum celebrates University of Illinois Moms Weekend by opening its doors to world-class floral designers who create one-of-a-kind arrangements inspired by works of art on display at KAM. The 22nd annual Petals & Paintings exhibition will be open to the public from 9 am – 5 pm on Saturday, April 5 and from 12 noon – 5 pm on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Special docent-led tours will be available free of charge from 10 am – 4 pm Saturday. The exhibition is free and open to the public. It is curated by Rick Orr, a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers.
16th Annual Ebertfest
Created by Roger Ebert, a native to Champaign-Urbana, this popular film festival celebrates those "overlooked" films like the ones Ebert championed throughout his career. Held at the historic Virginia Theatre, the festival is five days, and features over a dozen films. Patrons can purchase festival passes or tickets for individual showings.
6th Annual Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon
Take part in one of the flattest and fastest courses in the country! Take a beautiful, scenic tour of the revitalized downtown streets, tree-lined residential neighborhoods and awesome, paved park trails. 2014 Boneyard Arts Festival
Discover the flourishing creative community of Champaign County during the Annual Boneyard Arts Festival, present by 40 North | 88 West, Champaign County’s art council. More than a traditional arts walk, the Boneyard is a unique countywide celebration that takes place in over 100 venues and features the work of local sculptors, weavers, painters and photographers, as well as musicians, actors, dancers and other performers.
Bloomington Gold Corvette Show
Bloomington Gold is not only the longest running national Corvette event, but also is noted for innovations that have been commonly copied by many other automotive events. Corvette auctions, swap meets, certification, SURVIVOR®, educational seminars and special museum-type displays all began at Bloomington Gold. Over 4,000 Corvettes will descend on Champaign County for the first time and over 1,000 are expected to take part in the Gold Tour showcasing the open roads.
