Illinois Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor Festival
It is all about family fun on Route 66, the most famous road in America. Sponsored by the 13 communities which make up the 90-mile linear museum from Joliet to Towanda, the annual festival invites everyone to experience the good life in the slow lane. Towanda’s portion of the festival will feature antique and flea markets, a car show and more! While in Towanda, visitors won’t want to miss “A Geographical Journey” Parkway on Jackson Street to Boyd Wesley Park. This 1.6-mile stretch of Route 66 contains educational kiosks that interpret each state along the road. The walking tour has fliers printed in several languages for international tourists and a collection of Burma Shave signs.

The 41st running of the STEAMBOAT CLASSIC 4 MILE, 15 KILOMETER and 4 KILOMETER RACES will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2014 in downtown Peoria. Regarded as the "World's Fastest Four Miles“, "Illinois Toughest 15K“ and “Peoria's Easiest 4K”, these running events are open and cater to runners and walkers of all ability levels. The Steamboat Classic Four Mile Race is famous as the world’s fastest course. All of the recognized world records for four miles have been set at the Steamboat Classic.The race starts in Downtown Peoria, makes its way to lower Glen Oak Park, returns to Downtown, and finishes with a downhill stretch to the Peoria RiverFront. The Steamboat Classic Fifteen Kilometer Race is regarded as Illinois Toughest 15 Km. Many impressive times have been run at the Steamboat Classic. The race starts in Downtown Peoria, makes its way to lower Glen Oak Park, completes two hilly loops in the Park, returns to Downtown, and finishes with a downhill stretch to the Peoria RiverFront. Lastly, The Steamboat 4K Fun Run/Walk is designed especially for younger runners (pre-high school ages) and individuals with disabilities (all ages). This timed, but non-competitive, event starts at 8:00 a.m. on June 14th at the Steamboat Classic Starting Line. It follows the Steamboat Classic course along Monroe, but turns at Spring Street, joins the 15 Km runners and returns via Madison and Hamilton to the Steamboat Classic Finish Line.
Run River City Marathon
The 2014 Run River City Marathon is Peoria's premier running event featuring a full marathon, marathon relay, half marathon, 5k, and youth run. The 26.2 run is Peoria's only road marathon, and the new course will be USATF Certified! All races will begin and end in Downtown Peoria. The start is located by the Caterpillar World Headquarters, and the finish line is on Water Street. Morton Pumpkin Festival
"Home of the Nestlé Libby's Pumpkin Canning Operations, Morton is proud to say that over 80% of the world's canned pumpkin is processed right here. Each September, in celebration of the pumpkin canning season, Morton hosts the Morton Pumpkin Festival. This year's event will be the festival's 48th year. Our theme is Pumpkins of the West.
