Haunted Decatur Ghost Tour
Travel throughout the city of Decatur in search of history, hauntings, crime scenes, scandals and spirits! Join us for a journey back into the history of one of America's most haunted towns and discover not only our favorite haunted places, but new locations of crime, infamy and spirits that have never been featured on the tours before. Arthur Amish Country Cheese Festival
From the flip of that first pancake at the Firehouse Saturday morning to the last bit of cheese is given away Labor Day afternoon the residents of the Arthur area, along with our mascots Artie Mouse and Miss Slice, invite you to come enjoy the weekend of festivities. We want you to enjoy the main festival area downtown, our businesses along Route 133 as well as the surrounding Amish community and businesses in the beautiful countryside – we are Illinois’ Longest Main Street and we’d love you to visit! Taste of Champaign-Urbana
Taste of Champaign-Urbana is the area’s premiere outdoor summer festival featuring delicious menu items from CU’s best restaurants, frosty beer from local breweries, lovely arts and crafts from local artists, the 3.14 mile Pie Run, and high quality music and entertainment for the whole family – all in a beautiful park setting. All proceeds from the festival go towards our youth scholarship fund which provides hundreds of local youth with the opportunity to go to camp, learn to dance, take swimming lessons, play baseball, and much more!
Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival
The 2016 Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival will once again be in Downtown Champaign, IL. The festival will feature two stages for musical performances by national touring artists, The 5th Annual Dinosores Motorcycle Show and so much more. The vibrant downtown area boasts more than 90 bars, restaurants and shops all within a few blocks of the Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival. We are certain you will enjoy the festival, the nightlife and the excitement that this event will bring to Downtown Champaign!
Strawberry Jam Festival
Roll out the strawberry red carpet in the Arthur area as it is the start of festival and fair season in the Heart of Illinois Amish Country Friday ans Saturday, June 3 and 4. What better way to celebrate late spring and early summer than with America’s favorite fruit, the strawberry, kid’s activities, contests, crafts, strawberry pie, an old fashioned strawberry social along with a multitude of vendors and some great music all mixed together to create Arthur Amish Country’s Strawberry Jam.
Each August, hundreds of thousands of people come to Central Illinois to experience all the entertainment and excitement that the Decatur Celebration has to offer. Headliners cap off a weekend full of family fun with unique food vendors, 3 blocks of arts and crafts, a carnival, and something exciting around every corner. Mennonite Relief Sale
The 55th Annual Arthur Mennonite Relief Sale is a very popular event which will be held at the Otto Center, one half mile south of Arthur on Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27. Part cookout, auction, festival, and reunion it is a great family activity which raises a large sum of money for the charitable efforts of the Mennonite Central Committee.
Arthur Area Freedom Celebration
Parades, food, helicopter rides, sky divers, aerial show and one of the largest fireworks displays in central Illinois will make for an All-American day at Arthur's Freedom Celebration held Saturday, June 25. Put on your red, white and blue then bring your entire family for some old-fashioned patriotic fun.
Moultrie-Douglas County Fair
The sights – neon lights from the carnival, the prize winning painting in the Fine Arts Show, a grand champion steer; the tastes – cotton candy melting in your mouth, a cheeseburger from the Woman’s Club stand, an ice cold beverage to cool down. The smells – the sawdust in the show ring, the smoke from the tractor pull, deep fried “anything.” The sounds – the crash of the cars in the demo derby, the cheering for the winners in the Queen pageants, great bands live in concert: Carrollton on Wednesday, July 13; Confederate Railroad on Friday, July 15/ Aaron Tippin headlining Saturday, July 16.. The biggest decision to make? Do you want vinegar on your French fries? The 86th Annual Moultrie-Douglas County Fair will be held Sunday, July 10 to Saturday, July 16.
Follow the Farmstead
Held June 11 from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., this tour of farms will focus on Urbana, highlighting farms large and small. Whether you want to discover the emerging technology utilized, tour a centennial farm, interact with farm animals or learn more about equipment used on farms from tractors to combines to tillage equipment and more. Follow the Farmstead will provide numerous opportunities to engage with local farmers, all at no cost. Get connected with the farms that sustain us—locally and nationally. Get educated on what it takes to run a successful farm, large and small. Get your questions answered, engage in demonstrations and hands-on activities—it's all available through this unique event.
Lighted Pumpkin House Display
Lighted pumpkin House - October 25-31 Downtown Arthur - This house is decorated with over 300 pumpkins that are carved by school children, businesses, Arthur community volunteers and surrounding communities. The pumpkin come from Arthur's very own, The Great Pumpkin Patch
The Decatur-Forsyth Classic, held at the Hickory Point Golf Course, is the longest running tournament on the LPGA Symetra Tour and the third longest running women’s golf tournament on the LPGA. This year, the tournament at Hickory Point Golf Club will showcase a three day, 54 – hole stroke play professional tournament featuring a purse of $130,000.
Chet Kingery Memorial Bluegrass Festival
The 4th Annual Chet Kingery Memorial Bluegrass Festivall will be held at The Great Pumpkin Patch this year. Headliners include Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper and Blue Mafia. The combination of talent from award winning nationally known groups to local entertainment is sure to please all attendees. All the bands will perform a mixture of traditional and bluegrass/gospel music.
Urbana Sweetcorn Festival
The Urbana Sweetcorn Festival is Champaign County’s largest free festival. Urbana’s signature summer event is a two-day celebration of food, live music, arts and crafts and of course - all the delicious, locally grown sweet corn you can eat. Taking place in the heart of downtown Urbana, the 2016 festival will run Friday, August 26 from 5 to 11 p.m. and Saturday, August 27 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
