10th Annual "Let's Dance" Big Band Weekend
The event provides a venue and 'live' dance bands ( 10 - 17 pieces) for fans and social ballroom dancers to enjoy. Catered food - healthy, delicious, recommended by dancers. Floor - 13,000 sq. ft. smooth hardwood, well maintained. Advance package deals are available. 'At door' registration will be accepted 30 minutes prior to each scheduled dance.
17th Annual Biking with Beanzie
Biking with Beanzie is a recreational ride presented by Kishwaukee Kiwanis Club of DeKalb and sponsored by Kishwaukee Community Hospital.The ride route consists of primarily flat rural roads with some rolling terrain with estimated ride options of 23, 43, 63, 80, or 101 miles. All roads are well-paved, lightly traveled and posted with signs containing ride information and bits of Beanzie humor. This year also includes 3-mile, 5-mile, & 8-mile community bicycle pathway route options.

Anderson Japanese Gardens - Japanese Summer Festival
Join in the fun at our two-day cultural event featuring exhibits, traditional demonstrations and unique performances that appeal to all age groups. All Festival activities are included with Garden admission. The Japanese Summer Festival weekend begins with an Opening Ceremony at 10:00 Saturday morning on the lawn near the Pavilion in the Garden of Reflection and will be immediately followed by the first Taiko drum performance.
Art on the Lawn - Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden
Art on the Lawn, a Rockford tradition since 2000, is moving to a new home at Klehm Arboretum in 2015. The juried fine art show will feature a wide variety of fine art in many media available to purchase: photograph, ceramics, fiber/paper, glass, mixed media, painting, sculpture, wearable art and more. Admission includes both entrance to the garden for the day and that evening's Woodsong, Klehm's outdoor concert series, starting at 6:00pm.
BMO Harris Bank Center - Breaking Benjamin
Six years have passed since Breaking Benjamin released their last album-2009's Dear Agony-but one listen to their new album, Dark Before Dawn, and it becomes clear that time away from the music world hasn't caused them to lose a step. Burpee Museum Traveling Exhibit - Savage Ancient Seas: Dinosaurs of the Deep!
Take the plunge into the deep, dark, Savage Ancient Seas! It is the world of the late Cretaceous period-over 70 million years ago! Filled with huge carnivorous marine reptiles with double-hinged jaws and teeth in the middle of their palates, gigantic flesh-eating fish big enough to swallow an adult human being whole, flying reptiles with 3-foot skulls, and the biggest sea turtles to have ever lived! Exhibit opens to the public January 17, 2015, and is here until September 7, 2015.
Camping With the Stars
STEM Outreach, NIU Observatory, and DeKalb Park District are partnering to present Saturday Night Star Gazing. This free, family-friendly event offers campers the opportunity to use telescopes to view planets and constellations, talk with astronomers, and participate in educational activities throughout the night. When you wake up, get a unique view of the sun rise through special equipment.

Cider n' Cinnamon has been a Rockford art & craft tradition for over 40 years! Join us for this free art and craft event held at Edgebrook annually. More than 70 exhibitors will be displaying a variety of art, jewelry, crafts, clothing, vintage décor, and so much more! Enjoy delicious food and live music both days! DeKalb Corn Fest
Corn Fest is one of the last, free, summer, music festivals among Illinois music and summer festivals in Illinois. Well over 100,000 people from around Illinois and the Midwest attend the music festival over a three day weekend. This festival features a carnival complete with rides and games, food booths, free live music, kiddie korner with large inflatables, family entertainment and much more. Friday night is carnival wristband nights for the kids with unlimited rides from 6-10pm. Festival areas feature food and business vendor booths, and a beer garden
DeKalb County Barn Tour
The DeKalb County Barn Tour is a one-day driving tour of barn sites within DeKalb County hosted by the DeKalb Area Agricultural Heritage Association and the JF Glidden Homestead & Historical Center. Participants will receive a map Guide Book containing hand-drawn sketches of each barn and the barn’s history, style and use. Participants drive to each location in any order for a tour of the barn(s), including many interiors. Purchase your event ticket at any of the seven locations. Admission is $20 per vehicle (buses extra) (Museum members receive a 25% discount). Bus groups are welcome.
Erlander Home Museum - Midsommar Fest and Midsommar Natt
Join Swedish Historical Society for it´s annual Midsommar Fest (rain or shine) on the Erlander Home Museum grounds. Dance around the Maypole/Majstång at noon. "Midsommar Natt", the evening program, will feature live music performed by Rockford's very own Miles Nielsen and his band. Enjoy the magic of summer by stepping into a quaint Nordic village featuring Mormor's Attic, Blackhawk Wood Carvers, blacksmithing, and an abundance of artisans' shops in the "Marknad." Stockholm Inn will be serving Swedish pancakes, meatballs, herring open faced sandwiches, hot dogs, strawberries and ice cream. The Prairie Street Brewhouse will be serving BBQ and Lingonberry beer among other things. Baked goods and other treats from several local vendors will also be available. As always, there will be music and dancing with the Swedish Folk dancers, Nordic Dancers of Chicago, and entertainment by DJ Dain. The Erlander Home Museum will be open for tours throughout the day. Visitors are encouraged to enter the raffles which promise wonderful prizes. There will also be contests and fun games for children of all ages. The festival also features a children's area with crafts, story-telling and games, including the Viking yard game, KUBB. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to meet Pippi Longstocking and mingle with residents in Swedish costumes adding to the flavor of Midsommarafton. Admission is free for the daytime event and $10 starting at 4:30pm.
For one very special weekend each year, everyone who passes through the gates is an "Honorary Italian." Bring your family for great Italian food and pastries, continuous entertainment, Italian cultural exhibit, souvenirs, Bocce tournaments, carnival rides, children's crafts and much more. The festival is held on the grounds at Boylan High School.

Gurler Heritage Association Folk Music Fest
Join us on the big, beautiful lawn of the Gurler House to enjoy great local music featuring Dave Balika and Friends, The Wacky Keys and A Wing & a Prayer Dixieland Jazz Band. Join the NIU Jerry L. Johns Literacy Clinic for Litracy on the Lawn. Author Tom Lichtenheld (Duck! Rabbit!) and award winning illustrator, Stacy Curti will be part of this family-oriented event whose goal is to “celebrate reading and books, to promote family literacy across the community, and to share free literacy resources,” said Laurie Elish-Piper, director of the Jerry L. Johns Literacy Clinic.
