An Edwardian Tea at the Mansion

Survival Workshop- Native Tracking
Anyone can see tracks in wet soil and snow, but where do they go when they seemingly disappear in to the forest? Get the skills to see tracks and follow trails in the woods others simply cannot see! Learn how to read what an animal is doing – and thinking – from their tracks alone. Discover how and why tracking goes way beyond footprints. Know why people get lost in the woods and how not to yourself. Tracking changes not only what you see, but also opens whole new worlds of how you look at the wild! All classes are held outdoors and you may also want to bring note-taking materials. Class is limited to 10 people, must be 18 years of age or older. Lunch is provided. National Farmers Market Day

How did native peoples survive comfortably and with ease from what they gathered and made in the wild? Well, it's time to find out! Make rope from local plants. Practice hunting with the oldest technique known to humankind. Craft a bow drill set and try your hand at making fire by friction. See many reproducible tool demonstrations like traps, snares, the hand drill, and native bowls, as well as getting shelter ideas. Easter Seals 5K Run/Walk for the Kids
Pull out your running shoes because Easter Seals of LaSalle and Bureau Counties' annual 5K Run/Walk for the Kids will kick off during Ottawa's Riverfest festivities, Saturday Aug. 1. The 5K Run/Walk for the Kids starts and ends at Ottawa Township High School, 211 East Main St., Ottawa. Check in and race day registration begins at 6:30 a.m., runners start at 8:00 a.m. The run/walk follows a USA Track and Field certified course, winding through the historic east side of Ottawa including the scenic Illinois and Michigan Canal passage. 99% of all money raised at this event remains local, helping local children to achieve their maximum potential. Pre-registration is open now on line at www.runsignup.com. The registration fee is $25 until July 24 and $30 after. Easter Seals will be offering a new shorter race just for for kids immediately following the 5K awards at Ottawa High School. The race is $10 and each child that participates will receive a t-shirt and prize.

Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring their 50th Annual Welcomeburger in Washington Square Park! This is the kick-off for the Riverfest! Everyone is welcome! The Skydive Chicago® Summerfest is the summer boogie to be at! Marseilles Fun Days
This is a week long summer family festival celebration. Marseilles Fun Days Committee decided to bring the festival back centered around one of the city's premier annual events, The Marseilles Fireman's Car Cruise. The cruise will be part of a busy Saturday, July 18. Fun Days itself will take place Monday, July 13, through Sunday, July 19. Streator's Fourth - America's Best!
The annual Fourth of July celebration includes a carnival at the City Park, talent contest, musical entertainment, food vendors and a parade with the highlight of the festivities being the awesome Fireworks display on Saturday, July 4th at the Streator High School Athletic Field. Also take in the Annual 4th of July Patriotic Parade on Sunday July 5th and the Galaxy "9 Hole" Golf Tournament on July 6th!
The second annual CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) On-The-Air weekend will be held August 8th and 9th from 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m. both days. The Starved Rock Radio Club will be hosting this event at the West Shelter by the Lodge. Starved Rock State Park had 3 camps; 614, 1609 and the 2601. The call sign will be W9MKS.
