Sycamore Pumpkin Fest
2015 is the 54th Annual Sycamore Pumpkin Festival downtown. What started out as an idea by Wally Thurow in 1956 to offer something creative for the students of Sycamore, has grown from a neighborhood display on his front yard into the towns biggest city wide event beginning on Wednesday with the Opening Ceremony and cake cutting. The festival begins with over 1000 entries in the Lions Decorated Pumpkin Display, 2 carnivals, 2 large indoor craft shows, many non-profit vendors, and culminating with an hour and a half long parade on Sunday.

All aboard as a 36-ton, 1912 Heisler steam locomotive pulls three cabooses for a four-mile ride through farmlands. Turkey Testicle Festival
It’s a great night as you don’t have to bring a dish to pass or talk to relatives. If you have never tried a turkey testicle, this is your chance! No need to worry about the weather the festival is held under one huge heated tent, with plenty of portable potties available. The bar is open but the number of people allowed inside at any one time is limited, as it can become pretty packed. The Market is open from 7:30 a.m. to noon every Saturday morning from May through October. Located on the historic downtown square, the Farmers’ Market is managed by the Downtown Bloomington Association. Bluegill Music Festival
March 16, 2015 - Bluegill Music Festival will lunch its inaugural event on July 4, 2015 for a one-day festival packed with some of country music's hottest acts. The all-day festival will be complete with Southern Illinois' largest fireworks display, along the shores of the Rend Lake Dam, in Benton, IL. The lineup includes Eli Young Band, LoCash, Clayton Anderson and more exciting acts to be announced. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, March 20th and can be purchased at www.bluegillfest.com and at Black Diamond Harley Davidson. Drawing fans from around the country, including Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana, the festival is at the intersection of some of the nation's most dedicated country music fans. Bluegill Music Festival will feature nationally recognized BBQ vendors from around the country. You will also want to hike the paths between our historic farms by torchlight to hear storytellers in the Lincoln Cabin and Sargent House there to entertain guests with seasonal stories. To benefit the educational and interpretation programs of Lincoln Log Cabin, the Foundation will be selling hot dogs and s’mores for you to roast over an open fire.

Columbus Day Family Potluck Campout / Kayak Tour
Camp out on the wooded, sandy beaches of the Illinois River. Includes a potluck dinner on the beach under the stars and there will be campfires on the beach to enjoy! Winter Holiday Hayride
Our annual holiday hayrides will feature the food, fun and traditions from the pioneers of North America. We'll ride on our decorated hay wagon through the streets of Palos Heights singing Christmas carols then return to the Nature Center to enjoy food, crafts and other activities. Registration and payment to be made in person or by mail no later than the Monday before hayride. $8 per person.

Dinner & A Little History: Female Spies of the South
Led by a host of mostly female scholars, new research has revealed that women were involved in the Civil War efforts of both the North and the South, in ways most people never expected. Speaker: Amanda Fesperman of the Illinois Valley Community College has been studying women in politics and history for the past 25 years and will lead an informative and fascinating discussion.
Cock-A-Doodle Brew Fest
A one of a kind festival celebrating craft beer, wings and live music and benefiting Operation Support our Troops. The inaugural event will be held at the Hollywood Casino in downtown Aurora from 12 pm-4 pm. Cock-A-Doodle Brew Fest will be offering an atmosphere like no other. Breweries from around the United States will be available for tastings and a variety of food will be available for purchase.
