Guided Winter HIkes
Guided winter hikes every Saturday & Sunday from December-March. Departure time: 11:00 Approximate return time: 2:00pm Cost: $12 per person Join us for a guided hike with the possibility of seeing frozen waterfalls & eagles in flight. We’ll hike from the Lodge to LaSalle Canyon. Participants meet in the hotel lobby of the Lodge to pick up a snack and a “Starved Rock” drawstring backpack.
Kingston Fest & Kardboard Boat Regatta!
Kingston Fest is a craft and vendor fair that offers live music and games in the shady Kingston Township Park. Bring your swimsuit and try the dual slide Water Slide. Race your friends on two huge obstacle courses! Community games will be at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30. There will be horseshoes, bags and softball tournaments. The Kardboard Boat Regatta is always great family fun, watch boats made out of cardboard race on the Kishwaukee River.

Bike MS Tour De Farms
Thousand of cyclists to participate in Bike MS: Tour De Farms on June 21 & 22, 2014, in DeKalb. Bike MS: Tour de Farms is one of the largest fundraisers of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Illinois Chapter. Children under 12 years old are invited to participate in a special Bike MS course exclusively for junior riders, on Saturday, June 21, at 3 p.m. All children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older and submit a $15 registration fee. Also on Saturday, five Chicago-based bands will perform from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Residents of DeKalb and the surrounding communities are invited to attend. Registration for Bike MS is open to individual riders, teams, volunteers and virtual riders.

2014 Illinois Paddlesports Festival

Join the 4th annual Fort2Base Race. There are two event distances, 10 Nautical Mile or 3 Nautical Mile events (11.5 miles or 3.45 miles). The 10NM event begins at Fort Sheridan in Highland Park, runs along the North Shore Trail and finishes within the confines of Naval Station Great Lakes. The 3NM event is run solely within Naval Station Great Lakes. All registered participants receive a tech shirt and finishers medals. Runners and walkers welcome!

The March Madness Half Marathon course has been dubbed the most challenging in Northern Illinois and an excellent training race for spring marathons.
Challenge of the Bluffs
Beginning in front of the Riverbender.com Community Center, runners will make their way up a scenic and challenging 5-mile route through the Christian Hill and Fairmount neighborhoods and finish on Belle and 4th Street. Walking participants have the option of a 2-mile route to Riverview Park and back on the same course.
Deer Park St. Paddy’s 5k Run/Walk
The Deer Park St. Paddy’s 5k features live Irish music to get everyone in the spirit, pucker up as you run beneath the "kiss me I'm Irish" arch. At the finish enjoy green soda pop, chocolate gold coins and more Irish inspired treats. The course weaves through the Deer Park Town Center and then onto the streets of the Village of Deer Park. The USATF certified 5k (3.1 mile) course is completely paved. All miles will be marked with a water stop along the way. Awards go to to the top 3 of each age category. Interplanetary 5K Race & 1 Mile Fitness Walk
The Interplanetary 5K Race & 1 Mile Fitness Walk is a family oriented Race/Walk for participants of all ages - 5K Race for all ages, 1 Mile Fitness Walk, 1/2 Mile Kids' Fun Run. Walk or run through portions of the world's largest solar system model, an experience that is out of this world. Participants will follow the routes of interplanetary explorers through the solar system from the Sun to Mars and back. It's athletic, it's educational, it's fun... for the whole family!
Starved Rock Country Marathon
Inaugural marathon and half marathon in central Illinois. Be one of the first people to run through and around Starved Rock Country. The course will encompass the scenery of the Illinois River and the rolling landscapes in and around Starved Rock State Park. Runners will experience a course that is not a flat fast course as other courses advertise, the course has characteristics that will inspire you with scenic beauty and experience the highs and lows of the hills created by the Illinois River thousands of years ago. Blessing of the Bikes
People should meet at the Harley Barn, located in Effingham, at 8 a.m. From there they will travel through Effingham and make their way to the Cross to have their bikes blessed. Please contact the Harley Barn for more information.
Tour de Cure
Tour de Cure is a ride, not a race, with routes designed for everyone: occasional riders, families and experienced cyclists. Route distances range from 10, 20, 35, 62, or 100 miles and every route is supported with rest stops, food to fuel the journey, and fans to cheer on riders who are supporting the American Diabetes Association.
