Naper Settlement Oktoberfest
Be part of an annual autumn event that celebrates our community’s heritage. Under our large heated tent, enjoy live musical entertainment ranging from classic German Oompa music to classic rock, along with German beer and cuisine. Family-friendly activities will be available on Saturday from noon-5 p.m. The entrance to the festival will be through the Pre-Emption House Visitor Center. Parking is available in the Municipal Parking Garage on the corner of Eagle and Aurora and in the Naper Settlement visitor's lot on Porter Avenue and Webster Street. All proceeds benefit the Naperville Heritage Society.

The Midwest Wizard of Oz Festival has been a long standing tradition began in 1982 when Wizard of Oz store owner, Jean Nelson, came up with the idea to create an Oz-themed festival. McDonald's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Santa Claus, Ronald McDonald and a cast of thousands bring you the 81st Anniversary of the McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade, marching down State Street on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th. Whether you're moving your feet to the melodic carols of marching bands, gazing skyward at the gigantic inflatable helium balloons making their way down the street, or waving at talented entertainers in decorative floats dispensing holiday cheer, there is fun to be had by all at the biggest holiday parade in Chicago. The McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade is the only parade in the city of Chicago to feature inflatable balloons every year. Started in the times of the Great Depression, the Parade has been lifting the spirits of Chicago and bringing the community together in celebration. Over 400,000 people lines the parade route on State Street.

Led by a host of mostly female scholars, new research has revealed that women were involved in the Civil War efforts of both the North and the South, in ways most people never expected. Speaker: Amanda Fesperman of the Illinois Valley Community College has been studying women in politics and history for the past 25 years and will lead an informative and fascinating discussion.

We'll ride on our decorated hay wagon through the streets of Palos Heights singing Christmas carols then return to the Nature Center to enjoy food, crafts and other activities. Train Company plays killer, teeth-kicking blues-rock. Since forming in 2008, John Zozzaro (guitar/vocals), Mark Alletag (saxophone), Mike DeWitte (bass/vocals), Rob Lejman (drums) and Sam Wyatt (keys) have explored a sound that has included everything from jazzy pop to bourbon-soaked rock 'n roll. Crowds can expect sweaty, high energy shows with no two alike! This summer, a different live performance is featured each month on the Joliet Area Historical Museum's Outdoor Rooftop Terrace! To conclude its 2015-2016 season, Drury Lane Theatre presents the classic All-American musical Bye Bye Birdie. It's the late 1950's, and teenagers from across the United States are going crazy for the handsome rock star, Conrad Birdie. Meanwhile, his manager Albert is going into debt and is banking on Conrad's success. Disaster strikes when Conrad receives a draft notice to join the military. Albert stages a publicity stunt for Conrad to kiss one lucky fan on The Ed Sullivan Show before he leaves for the army. Fifteen-year-old Kim MacAfee from Sweet Apple, Ohio is selected. Conrad Birdie gets more than he bargained for when he arrives in the Midwestern town which is reeling with excitement for his visit.

Don't miss this favorite annual tradition when members of the 10th Illinois Regiment and their families spend the weekend on the Mill grounds depicting what life was like in a Union military camp. Complete with authentic clothing, weapons, and tools, this event will take you back in time to the 1860s. Experience black powder firing demonstrations and drills, cooking, toys, and crafts. The members of this regiment are excellent presenters who pay attention to historical accuracy, and they are extremely dedicated to creating a unique and unforgettable experience.
White Christmas The Musical
Celebrate the holiday season with Irving Berlin's White Christmas, the merry and bright stage production based on the classic silver screen romantic comedy. When two former Army buddies, who are now Broadway performers, follow a sister act booked at a charming Vermont Inn, they soon discover that it is owned by their former commander. With no snow and no customers, the General is nearly bankrupt. To save the lodge, the two acts team up and put on a festive show packed with Irving Berlin favorites like Blue Skies, Count Your Blessings, I Love a Piano, and, of course, White Christmas.
