Frankfort Fall Festival
The Frankfort Fall Festival is ranked in the top 15 shows to visit by Sunshine Artist. There are 300 artisan from 30 states selling hand-crafted items at our show which includes local civic organizations selling food items, a carnival, entertainment and a community parade.

2016 Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament at Northwestern University
The 2016 Big Ten Women’s Lacrosse Tournament will be hosted by Northwestern from May 5-8. The tournament will include all six conference programs, with two quarterfinal matches on Thursday. The top two seeds will receive byes to Friday’s semifinals, followed by the championship match on Sunday.
20th Annual Art in the Park
The 20th Annual Art in the Park is a juried show of fine art, craft, and design. The show features over 100 artists from the Midwest displaying works of ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, painting, photography, and more. Food vendors will be on site selling delicious snacks and treats. Elmhurst Art Museum will be open 10-5 both days of the show with free admission.

Once again, the City of Chicago will provide kite kits for children to build, decorate and fly, while supplies last. Other activities include face painting, balloon artists and a kite-shaped refrigerator magnet craft. The Big Kite Candy Drop, a piñata-like kite filled with candies that drop from the sky, will take place during the afternoon, weather permitting. Kite Harbor will be onsite for kite buyers, and professional kite flyers will demonstrate their skills with oversized and uniquely-shaped kites. The 18th Annual Chicago Kids and Kites Festival is organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. Kids & Kites festival will run from 10am to 4pm on Cricket Hill, near the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Montrose Ave.
Chicago's Memorial Day Parade
Chicago's Memorial Day Parade honors all men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country. The Wreath Laying Ceremony will begin at 11am at the Eternal Flame on Daley Plaza (Dearborn and Washington Streets). The parade will step off at noon and proceed south on State Street from Lake Street to Van Buren Street. The Chicago parade is considered one of the largest Memorial Day parades in the nation. Since 1870, Memorial Day parades have graced the streets of Chicago. Wreath Laying Ceremony begins at 11 am; Parade begins at 12 Noon

It promotes awareness and appreciation for all forms of jazz through free, quality live musical performance. Since 1979, the festival's mission is to showcase Chicago's vast jazz talent alongside national and international artists to encourage and educate a jazz audience of all ages.
Chicago Palestine Film Festival
From April 16 through May 5, the Gene Siskel Film Center collaborates with the Chicago Palestine Film Festival to present the fourteenth annual festival representing the spirit and mood of contemporary Palestinian life. This festival is dedicated to exhibiting film and video work that is open, critical, and reflective of the culture, experience, and vision of the artists.
Millennium Park Summer Film Series
Calling all movie buffs! Head to Millennium Park on Tuesday evenings this summer to enjoy free movies at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. It's now home to the latest and most sophisticated outdoor screen with sound projected from the Pavilion's state-of-the-art sound system. The images are bright, clear and visible from the front row to the back of the Great Lawn, so there isn't a bad seat in the park! Be sure to grab a blanket and pack a picnic dinner to enjoy with your friends and family.
Shakespeare 400 Chicago

51st Annual Midsommarfest
Midsommarfest is Andersonville’s annual summer street festival, celebrating its 51st year in 2016! Nearly 50,000 people throng Clark Street from Foster to Catalpa for two days and three nights of music, dancing, kids’ entertainment, and delicious food. Vendors from around the region sell their wares to passers-by, local shops and restaurants welcome the warm season with specials and sales, and dance troupes, Djs, and cutting-edge plus longtime favorite bands keep the party going.
Andersonville Sidewalk Sale
The stores of Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood will be lining the sidewalks with great bargains during the annual Andersonville Summer Sidewalk Sale on Friday, July 22, Saturday, July 23, and Sunday, July 24, 2016. Brick by Brick at the Museum of Science and Industry
Explore the power of play at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago’s new temporary exhibition, Brick by Brick, opening March 10. Brick by Brick features a spectacular collection of more than a dozen LEGO®-built structures of engineering marvels, including a 60-foot-long Golden Gate Bridge, the International Space Station, St. Louis Gateway Arch, Hoover Dam, Roman Colosseum, the Burj Khalifa and more. These models are constructed by LEGO Certified Professional and Chicago native, Adam Reed Tucker. Guests will also experience hands-on building challenges that reinforce key principles of engineering, construction and architecture—and encourage creativity. Throughout the exhibit, guests learn how architects and engineers push the limits of design, materials and location to make the seemingly impossible, possible; witness how form follows function; and learn how building beautifully uplifts us all.
Obscura Society IL: Surgical Curiosities: Rare Books and Selections from the Permanent Collection
In this three-part series of second Friday evening sessions, explore rare books from the International Museum of Surgical Science collections in the intimate setting of its historian lakefront mansion library, guided by two of its stewards. Andersonville Dessert Crawl
It’s trick-or-treating with a gourmet flair! More than twenty restaurants in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood showcase their sweetest and most delicious wares during the 10th annual Andersonville Dessert Crawl on Sunday, October 30, 2016, from 2:00-5:00PM. Participants will pick up their Dessert Crawl “passport” at the Swedish American Museum, 5211 N. Clark Street, and then proceed to the participating restaurants and shops for tasting-sized portions at each location.
