Second City 55th Anniversary Tour
October 03, 2014 Chicago’s comedy powerhouse The Second City is opening up their vaults to celebrate 55 years of laughter! NIU Convocation Center is proud to welcome The Second City’s 55th Anniversary Tour on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 7:30pm. Be there for this ultimate peek behind the curtain as the superstars of tomorrow present the legendary theatre’s best of the best created by some of the biggest names in the business. It’s the perfect fusion of Second City’s hysterical history, the comically cutting edge future and world famous improv! The Second City continues to deliver the funny while touring the globe. Many of comedy’s biggest names have hit the road with The Second City Touring Company, including Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Amy Poehler, Steve Carell, Bill Murray, Jason Sudeikis, Key & Peele’s Keegan Michael Key and Saturday Night Live’s current “Weekend Update” co-anchor, Cecily Strong. Tickets for The Second City’s 55th Anniversary Tour go on sale Friday, August 22nd at 10:00 a.m. and range from $25 - $45 and can be purchased at the Convocation Center box office, all Ticketmaster Outlets, Ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 800-745-3000. The Village of Itasca will be hosting its 3nd Annual International Craft Beer Tasting at the Holiday Inn Itasca. We will feature over 75 craft beers from microbreweries both locally and internationally. There will be some hard cider tastings also. Come out to enjoy responsibly limitless tastings.
Reporting for Duty: The WWII Vehicle Experience
Join the First Division Museum for a one of a kind event. You will get the opportunity to experience the vehicles that soldiers used in World War II. The Museum's professional staff will teach you about the vehicles and let you get inside each vehicle to start your day. During the day, you will learn about and handle the weapons used by American and German forces during the war. We will also show you how the medics treated and transported casualties in the field. Everyone will be served a World War II style lunch. You will then finish your day by going on a convoy in the Museum's World War II vehicles. Participants will receive a personalized dog tag and an event t-shirt. The session is 5 hours long, and lunch will be served at 12 noon. Advanced registration is required. All participants must be 18 years or older. There is a significant amount of physical activity involved in this program.
