Freeport Art Museum, 121 N. Harlem Avenue, Freeport. Tuesday thru Friday: 10 am to 5 pm; Saturday: Noon to 5 pm. This exhibition is an installation, print and multi-media exhibition of work by Jonathan McFadden and David Wischer that presents a reaction to news and social media cycles by drawing attention to the fractured and often-sensationalized events and culture. Works are appropriated from multiple media outlets and social media sites, emphasizing the fractured narrative that news cycles create by pushing aside recent events for the most current story, creating a culture that blurs events and leaves the viewer entertained but unable to recall details. McFadden incorporates recognizable forms so that the viewer feels a sense of remembrance toward, but may not link to the original meaning. Thus the work created in reaction to these events begins to take on its own narrative about global society and how we digest information. Opening Reception: August 19, 5 pm to 7 pm. Free, but donations appreciated. (815-235-9755)

Mending old bathrobe costumes and discussing who’s going to play the various roles, little do the ladies know what surprises are in store for them. Known for their hilarious antics and subtle charm, they are once again called upon to step in and save the day!
The Matt Poss Band is a Midwestern group that sounds like the Mississippi Flyway they grew up in. Twang collides with soulful Blues and Rock to create an explosion that is at once fresh and familiar. The listener can hear hints of Mellencamp and Springsteen, yet there is also Bluegrass, Southern rock and Outlaw Country, constantly laying down the backdrop for all those blue collar, hard knock and hard luck story songs. MPB is always on tour, and they come home to the EPC once a year for their annual "Holiday Homecoming". The Chicago Tribune says MPB is a "High octane Americana show with the grit of a Texas roadhouse and the soul of a Southern tent revival."

Dan St. Paul has been chronicling his life on stage for 30 years. After turning fifty, he discovered his body changing (“I’m a cylinder now. I can wear a belt anywhere on my body.”), his memory faulty (“I have eight pair of reading glasses and I have no idea where they are.”), and dealing with a teenager more challenging (“I have a bumper sticker that says ‘My Son’s Just Getting By At Hillsdale High’.”). Instead of moaning about it, Dan developed it into a show that leaves baby boomers and more rolling in the aisles. Dan has been a national headlining comedian at some of the top comedy clubs in the country. His “The First Baseball Game” is one of the most requested comedy pieces on the syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show.
