Fall Art Stroll
For one day each fall, downtown Kankakee is transformed into a center for arts and entertainment. The Art Stroll brings together artisans from all over the Midwest, including painters, photographers, jewelry makers, potters, glass makers, and a variety of music and performance artists.

Fever River Railroad Fall Open House
For model railroad aficionados-and everyone else who ever enjoyed model trains-this is something to see. The Fever River Railroad is a 103 by 24 foot HO scale model of a hypothetical railroad. The railroad intersects with models of "real" railroads, each of which can be operated independently. Up to 20 trains can be operating at one time. Industries along the railroad right-of-way duplicate either actual facilities or are typically correct of the industries that would be found in the Upper Midwest. The scenery represents the geographical area as well. A collection of railroad memorabilia and pictures are on display.

Chicago Auto Show
The Chicago Auto Show is the largest auto show in North America and has been held more times than any other auto exposition on the continent. All Chicago Auto Show exhibits are held in the McCormick Place complex. Exhibitions include: multiple world and North American introductions; a complete range of domestic and imported passenger cars and trucks; sport utility vehicles; and experimental or concept cars. In total, nearly 1,000 different vehicles will be on display. Additionally, attendees will also have the opportunity to see numerous accessories and auto-related exhibits, competition vehicles and project, antique and collector cars.

Harvest Frolic Fall Celebration
Celebrate the arrival of autumn with Lincoln Log Cabin’s annual Harvest Frolic on Saturday and Sunday, September 27-28 from 10am to 4pm daily. Activities will take place at both the Lincoln and Sargent farms including children’s games, doll making and hearth cooking. There will also be a three-legged race, a cast iron skillet toss, two-man saw contest and a “dipping cup race” and a special scavenger hunt will be open to children 12 years of age or younger. Visitors are encouraged to take part in these period games and activities. Demonstrations, food, period music and entertainment along with our featured visiting artisans will round out the weekend programing.

The inaugural Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival is set to take place September 11-14, 2014 at the beautiful 3.000 acre Kennekuk County Park. Phases of the Moon is a four-day music, arts and camping event thoughtfully tailored to provide a unique festival experience. Glidden Homestead Patent Day Celebration!
Joseph F. Glidden was granted a patent on November 24, 1874 for "The Winner," what became one of the most-widely used types of barbed wire in the nation. It all began on the Glidden farm, at the time “a mile west of the City of DeKalb.” Joseph began searching for a better fencing method after his wife, Lucinda, complained about livestock getting into the yard. The Budweiser Illinois Blues Festival is the official host for the official competition leading to the Blues Foundation's world famous International Blues Challenge. Sponsored by the River City Blues Society, this is an opportunity for unsigned Illinois bands to compete for entry into the IBC with expenses paid by the River City Blues Society with help from a funding grant from the Illinois Blues Coalition. Whether you are just beginning in photography, are an advanced amateur or a professional, you are welcome to the Starved Rock Photography Club. Monthly photography walks at Starved Rock State Park's Lodge with club leader, Jacki Pienta. The Photography Club will meet each month throughout the year for guided walks to planned sites for photography opportunities. Members will informally exchange ideas and tips for quality nature and wildlife photos. They will meet the 4th Saturday of every month at 9am in the back of the Large Parking lot at Starved Rock Lodge. All meetings will consist of a hike to an area of either Starved Rock State Park, Matthiessen State Park, or Buffalo Rock. Homer Harvest Days 2014
The 7th annual Homer Harvest Days features food, live music, old-fashioned entertainment and games, children's activities, living history and pioneer demonstrations, a petting zoo, pony rides, antique tractors, hay rides, artisan and unique craft vendors, and other amusements and diversions from a simpler and more rural era. The Trantina Farm is conveniently located near I-355 and 159th St, east of Gougar Road.

Robbins Back-To-School Festival
Robbins Back to School Festival has been a tradition for over twenty years. The Back to School Festival is scheduled the weekend before Labor Day annually and ends with the Labor Day Parade on the Sunday. The Robbins Labor Day Parade is the second largest African American parades in the Chicago Southland area after the Bud Bliken Parade. For the 2014 Robbins Back to School Festival we will provide a small carnival and 3-day basketball tournament in addition to live entertainment, food, and fun.
Barn Quilts of DeWitt County Bus Tour
Gearing up for our fourth year of creating barn quilt magic in DeWitt County. Throughout the county, vibrant, hand-painted 8’X8’ quilt blocks on ‘wooden canvases’ adorn numerous barns, making a drive through the countryside all the more enjoyable. Bus tours are on the first Saturday in June and October from 9am - 1pm.

A Tribute to Patsy Cline
Mary Pfeifer has a voice that will take you back to the days of Patsy Cline. From Patsy's first recordings in 1955 to her last in 1963, she covers her famous hits such as Crazy and Walking After Midnight. 64th Annual Jubilee Days Festival
This weekend long festival begins Saturday with the annual 5K run, and in the evening the Miss Zion Pageants followed by an ice cream social. Sunday's entertainment includes the Arts and Crafts Festival, food, live music and fireworks. Monday will include the Mayors Breakfast, and Arts and Crafts Festival, food and the Jubilee Parade at 1pm. The largest Lake County Labor Day parade.

Visit the 50-acre showground and experience the fall harvest early 1900’s style. Des Plaines River Trail Marathon Races
Welcome to year five of the Des Plaines River Trail Half-Marathon, Marathon and 50 Mile Ultra Marathon along the beautiful and fast Des Plaines River Trail. This is a truly special running course. The DPR Trail is a wide, crushed gravel track, free of roots and rocks, and very flat. All of the major road crossings are managed by way of bridges or viaducts This is a great track through alternating lush forests and open wetlands. With cool temperatures expected, and given the flat terrain and ideal running surface, you'll find these to be extremely fast courses. Registration is open until it reaches full capacity or October 10th. Register early and save.

Quad City Balloon Festival
Join in on the fun during the Quad Cities Balloon Festival in September. Featuring beautiful and colorful hot air balloons, the festivities take place at the Rock Island County Fair Grounds in East Moline, Illinois. Admission to attend the Quad Cities Balloon Festival is free, although a free will donation of non-perishable food items is appreciated.
