Ride Like An Egyptian
Join us for a fun and enjoyable bike ride through DeKalb and Kane Counties and support the historic Egyptian Theatre on Satruday, August 20th. Since the ride starts and ends at the Egyptian Theatre, you will have the opportunity to explore this historic landmark. This bike ride offers four mix-n-match 25-mile loops. All participants will be provided with route maps and all routes will be marked with signs. There will be great SAG support on all loops and a well-stocked central rest stop. Bike at your own speed, this is not a race. All ages are welcome, however, those under the age of 16 must ride with a participating parent or guardian. There will be an end-of-ride meal provided for registered riders. Meal will feature soup, sandwiches, and refreshments.
22nd Annual Airport Open House and Fly In

International SUNday Festival
Get a good look at the sun through special solar telescopes during the first-ever International SUNday Festival at the Confluence Tower. Members of several local astronomical organizations will be on hand to celebrate the Summer Solstice (which falls on Father's Day this year) from Noon to 5 p.m. The first 100 families to visit will receive a pair of free Solar Glasses. There will be food vendors, including "Good Looking Kettle Corn", Eppel's Pantry and Princivalli's Cafe on hand. Representatives will also share information about the sun, our nearest star in the Solar System. Amateur astronomers will provide their own optical equipment to safely view the sun including hydrogen, alpha, calcium and white light views. This event is free, although there is a charge to tour the Tower.

The pie auction is legendary and encapsulates the best of small-town, Midwesterner living. The fun continues Saturday with a 5K run, a parade, and lots of food and fun. Beach Boys & The Temptations: Surf & Soul Tour
There’s no better way to celebrate the summer than experiencing the band that literally created the beach rock sound live. And there’s no better place to do it than right on the banks of the Fox River. Calling The Beach Boys “legends” is an understatement. Their multi-layer harmonies, unmistakable 1960s surf rock sound and laid-back style launched them into worldwide fame, while simultaneously shaping the future of pop music forever. We like our surf with a side of soul, so joining The Beach Boys are the smooth, the soulful, and the funky Temptations. Known for their Motown smash hits “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “My Girl” and “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone.” Gates open at 5:30 pm - show starts at 7:00 pm. Bring your lawn chair and be early!

Southern Illinois Music Festival
The Southern Illinois Music Festival, now in its 12th season, is presenting Rossini's final opera, William Tell, sung in French with projected English supertitles, at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center June 7, 8, 10 and 11. This opera has only been produced in the United States three times in the last century, so this is an historic event. The Festival Orchestra will also perform a grand orchestral program of Bach, Beethoven and Brahms, including the “Eroica” Symphony and the Double Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra, featuring violinist, Michael Barta and cellist, Eric Lenz. The Festival will also present music by Mozart from 1776, including his three great violin concerti, the concerto for three pianos, the Serenata Notturno and the “Paris” Symphony. Mark your calendars for May 27 through June 13, 2016. The Southern Illinois Music Festival presents three-dozen professional performances of classical music and jazz in two dozen venues throughout Southern Illinois each June.
