Annual Bluegrass Jam
It’s bluegrass time again at the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site, with both fans and performers gathering on Sunday, Aug. 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Musicians from Illinois and Indiana will converge at the site for a day of jamming with informal groups playing along the creek throughout the day. The site’s volunteers will be serving hamburgers, hotdogs and more with proceeds benefit the historical and interpretive programs at the site. Anyone with a love of this unique style of music is welcome to join one of the many the groups playing in the park.

Santa will arrive downtown around 4:00 p.m. to officially light the "City of Effingham" Christmas tree on the Courthouse square lawn. Be downtown to see Santa arrive with all of his elves and make sure you get in line to give him your Christmas list! There will also be Christmas Carolers serenading you with songs throughout the event, along with other goodies. Step back in time and take a ride on a horse drawn carriage through the downtown area. Bring the whole family downtown to kick off the holiday season right!
Barn Quilts of DeWitt County Bus Tour
Gearing up for our fourth year of creating barn quilt magic in DeWitt County. Throughout the county, vibrant, hand-painted 8’X8’ quilt blocks on ‘wooden canvases’ adorn numerous barns, making a drive through the countryside all the more enjoyable. Bus tours are on the first Saturday in June and October from 9am - 1pm.

Marshall's Halloween Frolic
This family-friendly one-day event features Halloween games, stories, hayrides and hot chocolate, & parade of costumes with costume judging at the gazebo. Games for kids of all ages, trunk or treat in a safe family friendly environment, and then join in the parade around the courthouse and then enter in the costume contest. Each contestant receives $1 just for entering. Located at Courthouse Square lawn in downtown Marshall on the National Road.
Civil War Weekend
The Shawnee Hills Art Council of Anna Arts Center and P.A.S.T. of Union County are co-sponsoring a Civil War Weekend in Anna, IL. A quick snapshot of the planned events include: Historical bus tour: “Lincoln’s Footsteps and Friends in Anna-Jonesboro”; exhibits which include guns and quilts; re-enactors and encampment; storytelling; and Civil War era food and music. So mark your calendars and plan on coming to Anna Arts Center for a journey back in time.
Sunset by the Mississippi
Preceded by the Nauvoo Brass Band in concert on the outdoor stage, “Sunset by the Mississippi” invites you to sit back for some old-fashioned, toe-tapping fun in this one-hour variety show, performed as the sun sets over the Mississippi River.
Twilight Thursdays at the Tower
Watch the sunset over the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers from 150 feet in the air at the Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower. Experience the breathtaking view of the landscape during the twilight hours, Thursdays in September from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at “Twilight Thursdays” at the Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower. Cambridge Fest & Auto Show
If you enjoy classic cars and trucks in a historic downtown setting, please join us for the annual Cambridge Main Street Fest & Auto Show in Cambridge. Over 150 cars, trucks and motorcycles will be on display. The day offers live entertainment, tours of the Historical Heritage Village, a bake sale, N & G Scale train display, food and craft vendors, along with many other activities. The evening ends with a street dance.
Pitchfork Music Festival
Pitchfork is considered one of the most comfortable and reasonably priced weekends of music in Chicago, featuring both emerging and internationally renowned acts. It's all about positivity and fun so both the musicians and crowd can have a great time! Vendors are also on-site, selling a variety of local goods.
You will see many hand crafted items made by the creative minds of the artists that made all of these beautiful items. Original art work will include water color and oil paintings, blown and fused glass creations, woodworking, jewelry, hand knits, porcelain paintings and other media.
Lynwood Fest offers kid games, a canine demonstration, food vendors, a beer tent and the most spectacular firework display in the south suburbs.
Iroquois County 4-H & Agricultural Fair
Featuring horse and pony shows, fair queen contest, demo derby, tractor rides, tractor pull, talent show, entertainment. Held at the fairgrounds.
Livingston County Ag Fair
Since 1930 this volunteer-run agricultural fair has provided fun family entertainment. Activities include a chainsaw carving auction, cake auction for Ag scholarships, the Broken Horn Rodeo, and the Ramer Demo Derby. Also included are livestock shows, agricultural exhibits, horse show, kiddie tractor pull and Ag Olympics.
River2River Cruise Night
Hundreds of vintage cars, street rods, trucks, antiques, special interest vehicles, with a cruise on Main Street Friday night. Food, entertainment, vendors - fun for the whole family.
Galesburg Great Balloon Race
Since 2000 The Great Balloon Race has called Galesburg, Illinois it's home. Set in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Storey, it has played host to more than 30 majestic hot air balloons each year. Pilots from across the country have traveled to this event to compete in the balloon competition and to share their balloons and stories with families from around the region.
Antique Engine & Tractor Association Working Farm Show
Visit the 50-acre showground and experience the fall harvest early 1900’s style. Event features the historical value of collection and exhibition of gasoline and steam tractors, power driven farm machinery and other equipment through field demonstrations, displays of gas engines, garden tractors, farm tractors and equipment. Tractor pulls, craft demonstrations, speakers, children activities and music are featured daily. Food is available and parking is free. .
