Goodenow Grove Fall Fest
Celebrate autumn during the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Goodenow Grove Fall Fest from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Plum Creek Nature Center in Beecher. This free event features a day of enjoyment for the entire family. Scheduled activities include: pumpkin painting, a petting zoo, hayrack rides, live music, a climbing wall, an inflatable obstacle challenge, an 80-foot fun slide, a wind jammer swing ride and a berry-go-round ride. Also available will be America's Children's Museum on Wheels: StoryBus. Visit the creatures at Plum Creek Nature Center or check out the vendors selling fresh produce, flowers, green cleaning products, recycled garden art and more. Food also will be available for purchase, including sandwiches, popcorn and roasted nuts. No registration is required for this event. Annual Traditional Music Festival
Early 19th century music and dancing will occur throughout the pioneer village at New Salem State Historic Site in Petersburg. Impromptu demonstrations and performances of music and dancing are featured. The park sets up straw bales for jam sessions, and there is a great deal of bluegrass, old-time, and other music going on. Camping is available and there are evening concerts.

Christmas Market "Julmarknad"
The holiday festivities in Bishop Hill begin with Julmarknad, or Christmas Market. This event is based on Scandinavian customs dating back to the Middle Ages when farmers and artisans would gather in the village squares to sell their wares. Bishop Hill businesses will be offering unique gifts, handmade wares, antiques, quilts, collectibles, baked goods, delicious foods, and Swedish imports. Scandinavian foods such as herring, lutfisk, and rye bread are also in abundance. You can also participate in the Chocolate Walk, located at the Steeple Building, where you can choose from a variety of chocolate delicacies.

Amenti: Egyptian Theatre Haunted House
Amenti is the Egyptian Goddess guarding the world of the dead. Within her gates lie the horrors of the Egyptian underworld. Terror after terror await those who dare to enter. But be careful, Amenti jealously guards her gates and assures that no one escapes. The haunted house Amenti will take you throughout the historic Egyptian Theatre taking you to six different levels featuring over 20 different scenes. This attraction usually takes 20-30 minutes to go through once you start. This attraction is one of the most talked about events in the DeKalb area every October. Over 3,000 people experience the horrors of Amenti each year. The Amenti Haunted House will be open October 17-19, 24-26, 30-31 and November 1, 2014.
Vermilion County Civil War Days
Kennekuk County Park takes a trip back to the 1800s with Civil War re-enactments, presentations, music, and food. Participants from around the country come to the Danville Area for this one-of-a-kind weekend experience.
Take a Hike...and a Lunch - LaSalle Canyon
Join us for a guided hike from the Lodge to LaSalle Canyon. Participants meet in the hotel lobby of the Lodge to pick up a lunch and a "Starved Rock" backpack. Hikers will stop for lunch once they reach LaSalle Canyon. After lunch, the hike continues to Eagle Cliff and Lover's Leap. The tour concludes at the Lodge about 2:00pm. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. Hike will be around 4.5 miles round trip. This hike is classified as strenuous. Lunch includes: your choice of turkey, ham or PB&J, bag of chips, homemade granola bar, piece of fruit and a bottle of water. Advanced reservations are required as space is limited. $17 per person.
Bob Galloway Memorial Amish Country Bike Tour
Hosted by the Decatur Bicycle Club and the Arthur Association of Commerce, riders can choose from up to 100 miles of rides around scenic Illinois Amish Country. Well marked routes with little traffic and Amish country shops along the way and the Great Pumpkin Patch too. Rest stops with snacks, fruit, and drinks along the routes. All routes are sagged. Nearly 600 riders register, making this one of the biggest bicycle tours in Illinois. Starting point is the Arthur Community Building.

Illinois Game and Pet Breeders Fall Swap Meet

Join in on the fun during the Quad Cities Balloon Festival in September. Featuring beautiful and colorful hot air balloons, the festivities take place at the Rock Island County Fair Grounds in East Moline, Illinois. Admission to attend the Quad Cities Balloon Festival is free, although a free will donation of non-perishable food items is appreciated. Schedule of Events includes and art fair, car show, balloon launch and balloon glow. All activities are weather dependent.

Nearly two dozen businesses will host either a complimentary chili tasting stop or other treats and refreshments throughout the evening. Festival goers will be given ballets to vote for their favorite chili. Live entertainment will be provided throughout the night.
Antique Engine & Tractor Association Working Farm Show
Visit the 50-acre showground and experience the fall harvest early 1900’s style. Event features the historical value of collection and exhibition of gasoline and steam tractors, power driven farm machinery and other equipment through field demonstrations, displays of gas engines, garden tractors, farm tractors and equipment. Tractor pulls, craft demonstrations, speakers, children activities and music are featured daily. Food is available and parking is free. .
Twilight Thursdays at the Tower
Watch the sunset over the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers from 150 feet in the air at the Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower. Experience the breathtaking view of the landscape during the twilight hours, Thursdays in September from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at “Twilight Thursdays” at the Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower. Des Plaines River Trail Marathon Races
Welcome to year five of the Des Plaines River Trail Half-Marathon, Marathon and 50 Mile Ultra Marathon along the beautiful and fast Des Plaines River Trail. This is a truly special running course. The DPR Trail is a wide, crushed gravel track, free of roots and rocks, and very flat. All of the major road crossings are managed by way of bridges or viaducts This is a great track through alternating lush forests and open wetlands. With cool temperatures expected, and given the flat terrain and ideal running surface, you'll find these to be extremely fast courses. Registration is open until it reaches full capacity or October 10th. Register early and save.

A Tribute to Patsy Cline
Mary Pfeifer has a voice that will take you back to the days of Patsy Cline. From Patsy's first recordings in 1955 to her last in 1963, she covers her famous hits such as Crazy and Walking After Midnight. Robbins Back-To-School Festival
Robbins Back to School Festival has been a tradition for over twenty years. The Back to School Festival is scheduled the weekend before Labor Day annually and ends with the Labor Day Parade on the Sunday. The Robbins Labor Day Parade is the second largest African American parades in the Chicago Southland area after the Bud Bliken Parade. For the 2014 Robbins Back to School Festival we will provide a small carnival and 3-day basketball tournament in addition to live entertainment, food, and fun.
Barn Quilts of DeWitt County Bus Tour
Gearing up for our fourth year of creating barn quilt magic in DeWitt County. Throughout the county, vibrant, hand-painted 8’X8’ quilt blocks on ‘wooden canvases’ adorn numerous barns, making a drive through the countryside all the more enjoyable. Bus tours are on the first Saturday in June and October from 9am - 1pm.

Arrival at Camp DuBois
Come celebrate the arrival of Lewis and Clark at Camp River Dubois. This annual event commemorates the day William Clark and the men of the detachment arrived at the confluence of the Riviere a Dubois, Mississippi and Missouri Rivers.
