Clayville Historic Site
The centerpiece of Clayville is the Broadwell Inn, the oldest brick building in Sangamon County, built in 1824 by the Broadwell family as a stage coach stop between Springfield and Beardstown. Rock Falls Percussion Palooza
Percussion Palooza, an educational and entertainment event featuring a solo and ensemble competition for snare drum, melodic percussion, multi-percussion and drum set for middle and high school students and post-secondary level percussionists, will be held Feb 28th from noon to 7pm at Rock Falls High School. Also performing at the Premier Showcase are percussion ensembles and drum lines from throughout Northern Illinois and Eastern Iowa. The annual Louie Bellson Inspiration Award will also be given to honor the heritage of Rock Falls own Louie Bellson, the world renown & legendary percussionist who was born in Rock Falls.

See Emily Elizabeth and many of the residents of Birdwell Island where playing, working together, and respecting others is all part of being a member of the community. The exhibit is sure to delight young and old alike. Slide down Clifford's tail, work together to fill Clifford's big dog bowl with bones, hunt for sea shells at T-Bone's beach or "work" in the fish and chip shop on Birdwell Island and more. No matter what activity they choose, children will learn valuable life lessons through play. This exhibit is based on Scholastic's top-rated TV Show Clifford the Big Red Dog on PBS Kids® and from the award-winning author Norman Bridwell. Today, the best-selling book series consists of more than 160 Clifford titles and 100 million books in print! The exhibition will be at Discovery Center through May 15 and all signage is in both English and Spanish.
African American Veterans from World War Two and Beyond
Veterans Memorial Hall presents a living history event honoring “African American Veterans from World War Two and Beyond.” Doors open at 12:00pm with a formal opening ceremony scheduled for 1:00pm. The events conclude each day at 4:00pm, followed by an autograph signing session in the library. In years past Veterans Memorial Hall has offered an event to recognize Black History Month. This year is no exception as we present programs that bridge the generations with World War II Veterans from the Tuskegee Airmen, DODO Chapter and the Chicago Chapter of the Montford Point Marines joined with African American Veterans from the Korean and Vietnam Wars and beyond. Attendees will hear stories of brave service and patriotism unlike any other and experience a unique understanding of what it was like to be an African American serving in the United States Military. This program allows those in attendance to hear firsthand these veterans' accounts of their service and to be inspired by their stories of valor and patriotism. Saturday, February 20, members of the Tuskegee Airmen, DODO Chapter will spend the beginning of the program interacting with our moderator, answering a series of general questions. During the second half of the program they will answer questions from the audience. This colorful exchange between the audience and the Veterans is a crowd favorite and not to be missed. Sunday, February 21, we will bring to the stage five original Montford Point Marines. These Marines will share their stories of service in the Marine Corps during a time of racial inequality and segregation. Meet these historic veterans up close and experience firsthand their stories of bravery and sacrifice. Attendees will learn how these veterans were able to overcome many obstacles and why they truly deserve to be called the "Greatest Generation."

Hardin County Fluorspar Festival celebrates the influences brought to the area by the Fluorspar Mining Companies. Located on the banks of the Ohio River. Rosiclare (once known as the “Fluorspar Capital”), has a colorful history that revolved around this mineral. Each year, the Festival highlights and brings back memories of days gone by. Held on the first weekend in October in Downtown Rosiclare, the Festival features an ever-growing list of activities and things to do, including a Queen’s Pageant, a carnival, hickory-smoked barbeque, a pet parade, kid’s games, karoke, food and craft vendors, a quilt show, an open-house at the American Fluorite Museum, a car, truck and motorcycle show and a large parade featuring local school bands, groups, floats, a Grand Marshall and horse clubs. Local musical talent will also be on hand and the finale is held Saturday evening at the City Park on the Ohio River.

Shelby County 4H & Jr. Fair
One of only a few fairs that still highlight their 4H and Juniors. The fair includes dog care and obedience, judging in livestock, poultry, rabbits, lambs, produce, flowers, plants, and many other subjects. The Food Shack serves plenty of great food each day of the fair manned by the various 4H Clubs in Shelby County. The fair wraps up with the popular livestock auction and team penning.

13th Annual Spores N More Mushroom Festival
Come and enjoy the thrill of the hunt for the elusive morel mushroom or come and bid at the auction. Friday night kicks off the event with a welcome dinner, reception and speaker in Windsor. Saturday morning, come and join the hunt for a fee. If you like morels but not the hunt, come to the auction and bid for your winning batch. The 2016 hunt and auction will be based out of Shelbyville's Forest Park.
Scarecrow Daze Festival
During the Annual Scarecrow Daze Festival, the entire city of Shelbyville is decorated with scarecrows. With a different theme every year, entrants decorate their homes and businesses to the theme. There is also a large parade on Saturday, kids' games, a beer tent, music, a quilt show, and plenty of food and crafts, in downtown Shelbyville.

Illinois Holocaust Museum Exhibit - Nazi Olympics: Berlin, 1936
Coinciding with the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the 1936 Games, Nazi Olympics tells an important historical story. Given that sports play a powerful developmental role in the lives of so many youth and adult athletes, this exhibition expands on many important themes—racism and discrimination, propaganda, fair play, and ethical decision making—allowing the public to personally connect to the history and lessons of the Holocaust and relate them to present day Olympics and human rights issues.
Skokie Festival of Cultures
Since its inception in 1991, the Skokie Festival of Cultures has become one of the premier ethnic festivals in Illinois, attracting more than 450,000 visitors and dozens of cultures, all representing Skokie's tremendous diversity. Undying Words 1858-1865
A powerful look at Lincoln’s greatest words and how they helped end slavery in America. “Undying Words” explores the most important speeches of Lincoln’s career, showing how his views on slavery evolved as he sought to hold the country together. One hundred fifty years after the Civil War ended and Lincoln died, this exhibit shows what was at stake for the slaves, soldiers and families caught up in the crisis Lincoln devoted himself to ending.

An emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years. The show's unconventional structure consists of Cathy, the woman, telling her story backwards while Jamie, the man, tells his story chronologically; the two characters only meet once, at their wedding in the middle of the show.
Sublette Annual Toy and Antique Tractor Show
Vendors from more than ten Midwestern states fill eight buildings with over 400 tables of farm toys and collectibles. Antique tractor show with over 200 tractors lining the streets. Semi-tractors line up to show off their unique paint jobs. Train show with large operating layout, quilt show, and craft show. Pancake breakfast on Sunday.
