Moccasin Creek Festival
Moccasin Creek Festival is an annual 3-day music festival, which typically celebrates other arts and crafts as well. It takes place at beautiful Lake Sara in Summit Township, just west of Effingham, Illinois. The founder of Moccasin Creek Festival is Bill (Poss) Passalacqua, an Effingham native who has built his life around writing, performing and promoting music. Folk, bluegrass, alternative country, roots rock, and blues - "Americana" music. Bishop Hill Honor Flight Benefit
The spirit of giving each year is renewed by the Bishop Hill, The Filling Station Restaurant who organizes the annual fundraiser to send the Quad Cities area veterans to Washington, D.C. part of the Honor Flight Network. A barbeque rib dinner, that’s finger licking good right off the grill starts the festivities. Patriot Guard and Legion Riders ride into town and kick off the festivities with an invocation and presentation of colors. Patriotic music is provided throughout the event as well as unique military exhibits and a military retreat is held promptly at 1800 hours with a 21 gun salute and taps. A live auction of donated items, including, locally made artisan craft to sports memorabilia and more is the highlight of the day, besides the eating that is. Golf cart shuttle service from outlying parking areas will be provided to Village Park by Cambridge Cart Sales. Area veterans are provided with a free trip to visit their memorial with priority given to survivors of World War II, Korean War, and any veteran with a terminal illness. Honor Flight Quad Cities operates on donations from organizations and individuals. Representatives from the Honor Flight organization attend the fundraiser. All proceeds from the day’s events are donated to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities, $60,000 and counting. 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Bald Eagle Tours at Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge
Crab Orchard is home to six nesting pairs of resident bald eagles and their offspring. A few nesting sites are visible from public roads throughout the Refuge and eagles are spotted daily. Guided tours visit eagle nests and areas of the Refuge where eagles may be spotted. The cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for youth under the age of 12, and reservations are required.

IHSA State Bassing Fishing Finals

43rd Annual Gurnee Days Celebration
Gurnee Days returns this week for 4 days of family fun. Activities include a bicycle rodeo, live entertainment, Farmers Market, Gurnee Idol, golf tournament, and amusement rides, a 10K race, baby contest, rib fest and eating contest, fireworks, a pancake breakfast, parade, Scoop the Loop Car Show, petting zoo, pony rides, a talent show, exhibitors, games, food booths and stage events. Spirit of Peoria - Sights & Sounds of the River

Wingfest – Elbon Shrine Club
Wingfest is a wing cook-off. This event will be held at Duda Garden with live music from 7pm to 11pm. Wings will be available to purchase after judging. This is a Fundraiser to benefit Elbon Shrine Club.
Paramount Theatrical Production: Oklahoma!
This is the show that set the standard for all future musicals by incorporating music, lyrics and dance into a well-crafted serious story. Set in the turn of the century Oklahoma Territory, tensions are mounting between the local farmers and cowboys over the use of land. In the midst of it all is the rugged cowboy Curly who’s fallen for the strong-headed farm girl, Laurey. Despite their fiery spirits and at times tumultuous relationship, the two are destined to start a new life together in the soon-to-be state called Oklahoma!

Chet Kingery Memorial Bluegrass Festival
Musical line-up includes Larry Sparks, Jeff Brown and Still Lonesome, The Spinney Brothers, Mackville and Black Ridge Road. The combination of talent from award winning nationally known groups to local entertainment is sure to please all attendees. All the bands will perform a mixture of traditional and bluegrass/gospel music.
Designed for experienced triathletes and beginning participants. Triathlon includes a 300 meter swim, 6 mile bike course (helmets required), and a 3 mile run. This event is good for getting in shape for more ambitious triathlons. There are no age group awards, everyone who finishes is a winner. North Aurora Days
The Village of North Aurora is proud to continue the North Aurora Days tradition of providing a fun-filled weekend of activities and entertainment for the whole family in our great community. The sponsors, volunteers, and participants of North Aurora Days have been working hard to plan and provide a great celebration filled with fun for the entire family. This year’s festival will begin on Friday, August 7th with various events during the day. The emergency vehicle parade kicks off the Friday night festivities leading the spectators to our main stage, where they will enjoy a variety of food, beverages, and musical entertainment. Saturday, August 8th will be filled with a 5/10k race, fishing derby, Touch-a-Truck and more all ending on Sunday, August 9th with the fun filled pet parade.
Skokie Festival of Cultures
Since its inception in 1991, the Skokie Festival of Cultures has become one of the premier ethnic festivals in Illinois, attracting more than 450,000 visitors and dozens of cultures, all representing Skokie's tremendous diversity. Attendees will take their free 'Tour of the World,' enjoying two days of ethnic folk music and dance, a wide range of food, unique arts and crafts, beer tasting, a merchandise bazaar, and dozens of cultural booths and displays.

Valley Carvers Woodcarving Expo
The 27th Annual Valley Carvers Woodcarving Expo returns to Starved Rock Lodge (Great Hall & Starved Rock Room). See over 100 exhibits of woodcarving artists.
