Harvest Frolic Fall Celebration

Andover Christmas Julotta
For over 160 years this early morning (6:30 a.m.) service has been held at Augustana Lutheran Church. The service is held in a setting similar to that used by the Swedish congregation in 1870. The choir sings a Swedish anthem and the service is in English. Candles in the pews, altar and windows illuminate the sanctuary. Service begins at 6:30am.

It’s a great night as you don’t have to bring a dish to pass or talk to relatives. If you have never tried a turkey testicle, this is your chance! No need to worry about the weather the festival is held under one huge heated tent, with plenty of portable potties available. The bar is open but the number of people allowed inside at any one time is limited, as it can become pretty packed. One of only a few fairs that still highlight their 4H and Juniors. Northwest Illinois Rock Club's 2015 Jewelry, Gem, Fossil and Mineral Show
Midwest dealers will showcase a variety of beautiful gemstones, minerals, fossils, jewelry, beads and gifts for holiday shopping. In addition, there will be lapidary demonstrations, a fun-filled children's fish pond and games, speakers and displays.

Cedarville Summer Celebration
The 10th annual Cedarville Summer Celebration is a collaborative effort by the Village of Cedarville, Cedarville Lions Club and RAMP. There will be free hot dogs, chips and soda starting at 5 pm. There will be demonstrations by Cedarville Fire Department, games for kids, a vendor market, and Cake Walk. There is no charge to attend the event, but there will be charges for individual games.

La Cage aux Folles has become a classic musical comedy. Driving in Style: Promo Cars of the 1950s and 60s
The innovative and flamboyant car designs of the 1950's are now iconic. To whet consumers' appetites for the "latest thing," the Big Three American automakers (General Motors, Ford and Chrysler) began to release new models with slightly redesigned features every year. To promote the new vehicles, dealers distributed highly-detailed plastic models or "promos." Like their full-size versions, these colorful miniatures boasted streamlined tail fins and polished chrome grilles, reflections of the period's Space Age design and general prosperity. Given to potential buyers and their children, these salesman's samples are highly collectible today. Lent by Robert Reinhold and John O'Halloran, the promos in EAM's presentation will be on view in the McCormick House, also designed in the 1950s.
Art on Harrison
Seeking a way to announce the emerging Arts District, galleries and building owners in partnership with the Oak Park Arts Council inaugurated Art on Harrison in 1995. Conceived of as an informal Friday evening gallery walk, the event has continued each September since its inception, expanding to include entertainment and performances at participating galleries. Come out and see what the area has to offer in a convivial atmosphere, a celebration of what the creative spirits of this community have accomplished.

Fever River Railroad Fall Open House
For model railroad aficionados-and everyone else who ever enjoyed model trains-this is something to see. The Fever River Railroad is a 103 by 24 foot HO scale model of a hypothetical railroad. The railroad intersects with models of "real" railroads, each of which can be operated independently. Up to 20 trains can be operating at one time. Industries along the railroad right-of-way duplicate either actual facilities or are typically correct of the industries that would be found in the Upper Midwest. The scenery represents the geographical area as well. A collection of railroad memorabilia and pictures are on display.

Filled with huge carnivorous marine reptiles with double-hinged jaws and teeth in the middle of their palates, gigantic flesh-eating fish big enough to swallow an adult human being whole, flying reptiles with 3-foot skulls, and the biggest sea turtles to have ever lived! Exhibit opens to the public January 17, 2015, and is here until September 7, 2015.
