Lockport Old Canal Days
The 2015 Old Canal Days Festival will be held Thursday, June 18th through Sunday, June 21st in downtown Lockport. This family-friendly event starts Thursday when the carnival comes to town! (Carnival will be located in the South Public Landing Parking lot at 10th & Commerce.) Then, Friday evening, the Lincoln 10K Ride N Tie Race will officially kick off the event with the parade following. The main stage will be located at Central Square with a beer and wine tent and exceptional entertainment lined up throughout the entire weekend; and the craft show will run Saturday and Sunday between 6th Street and 8th Street on State. Also, there are numerous activities and exhibits scheduled at the Lincoln Landing as well as Heritage Village. The French and Indian War period living historians will present displays and interpretive programs on 18th century Taverne Life and brewing. Many homes would have had their own brewing house, so come and see how they did the brewing. Also, you will learn more about how taverns were the center of news and entertainment.

Bagelfest is a 29 year old festival in Mattoon that began on the idea of hospitality. When the Lender’s Bagel Factory moved to Mattoon, not everyone in town knew about bagels. So Murray Lender introduced his product to the community with a free bagel breakfast held in downtown Mattoon. And then a festival was born. Through many changes and additions now the festival is more than three days of activities including three nights of nationally known musicians, carnival, food and craft vendors, dog show and baby contest and of course there is still a free bagel breakfast to celebrate the hospitality and generosity of Murray Lender.

Mendota Sweet Corn Festival
Tons of free, hot, buttered, delicious Del Monte sweet corn will be the highlight of the 68th annual Sweet Corn Festival to be held in Mendota, Illinois on August 6-9. The Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the gigantic undertaking of hosting over 60,000 visitors, who consume nearly 50 tons of sweet corn during the festival weekend. Don't miss the excitement for the festival offers a variety of entertainment events for the entire family. The events take place primarily in the downtown area, and with the exception of the beer garden, have no admission fees or parking fees. Free musical entertainment is in abundance. The Crafters Market Place and flea market features over 200 dealers in hand made crafts and unique merchandise. There is a Queen Pageant, beer garden with live bands, grand parade and a carnival with rides and games for both adults and children, plus much more. The midways are lined with food booths, featuring a multitude of ethnic, regional and festival foods, but the "BIG EVENT" is the serving of the free Del Monte sweet corn on Sunday afternoon. For over 65 years, it has been cooked to its golden goodness with the help of a vintage steam engine. If you would like to take some of the memories of Mendota's Sweet Corn Festival home with you, the Mendota Chamber will be selling fresh Del Monte sweet corn by the bag on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the festival. Mennonite Relief Sale
This two day auction features locally handcrafted furniture, quilts, and other handmade items. There will also be a children's auction and train ride. MuckFest MS - Chicago
The run is pure athletic hilarity on a 5K course full of mud, and featuring 15+ outrageous obstacles that will spin, swing and fling you up, down and sideways. Entry fees are $55 by Apr 29 and $105 on race day.
Mudderella is a 5-7 mile long obstacle course event series targeted toward women. With 12-15 obstacles, Mudderella courses are designed to test strength and stamina. There's also a special Muddy Munchkins mini-course for little kids.

Murphysboro Apple Festival
The Murphysboro Apple Festival is the oldest and largest, alcohol-free festival in Southern Illinois. Over 45,000 people attend the festival each year. During the five days of the Apple Festival, there are numerous activities drawing large crowds such as evening stage shows, carnival/concessions, Queen Contest, Prince and Princess Contest, contests from apple pie eating to apple core throwing, firefighters' water fights, marching band competition, car shows, Appletime 5K Walk/Run and much more. The City of Ottawa proudly presents their “Music in the Park” Series every Saturday evening at the historic Washington Square Park on Jackson Street. Be part of the Depot District's tradition at the 5th Annual Music in the Street event on July 18th. The festival will feature live local bands, food and vendors. Admission is free, open to all-ages, and dog-friendly.

Naperville Park District Frontier Kite Fly Festival

National Stearman Fly-in Days
Total Stearman! The 43rd consecutive National Stearman Fly-In will celebrate America’s iconic biplane, and you're invited to join the fun Sept. 1-6, 2014, at Galesburg, IL, Municipal Airport. The must-attend event of the year for Stearman enthusiasts will offer a generous mix of flying events, technical seminars, entertainment and food. Best of all, it’s an opportunity to fly and relax with friends.
One of America's finest and most popular outdoor pageants. Original music, professional quality actors and colorful costumes will provide an unforgettable 1800's experience. The Nauvoo Pageant is presented on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. This amazing performance will begin at 8:30p.m. Also enjoy free family pioneer games and concessions prior to the performance at 7:00p.m.
Nearly Sane Trail Half Marathon
The Nearly Sane Trail Half Marathon will be 13.1 miles through the trails of Half Day Forest Preserve (permit pending), onto the trails of the Des Plaines River trail and back to the festival area where you can enjoy your well-deserved beer and hot dog! The start/finish area will be located at Shelter C of Half Day Forest Preserve in Lake County and take place on the beautiful trails of Lake County, which are some of the best that Chicagoland has to offer!

Night of the Luminaria
Be a part of one of the most beautiful and romantic visions of the year. The streets, steps and sidewalks of Galena come alive with nearly 5,000 candle-lit luminaries at dusk. NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament
Danville Area Community College and the City of Danville will again host the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Men’s National Basketball Tournament at the DACC campus March 18-22, 2014. This year marks the 21st year that Danville has hosted the tournament and the 29th year of the tournament.
North Aurora Days
The Village of North Aurora is proud to continue the North Aurora Days tradition of providing a fun-filled weekend of activities and entertainment for the whole family in our great community. The sponsors, volunteers, and participants of North Aurora Days have been working hard to plan and provide a great celebration filled with fun for the entire family. This year’s festival will begin on Friday, August 7th with various events during the day. The emergency vehicle parade kicks off the Friday night festivities leading the spectators to our main stage, where they will enjoy a variety of food, beverages, and musical entertainment. Saturday, August 8th will be filled with a 5/10k race, fishing derby, Touch-a-Truck and more all ending on Sunday, August 9th with the fun filled pet parade.

This festival has a long and rich history in the North Shore. Located in the Old Orchard Shopping Center in Skokie, the North Shore Festival of Art is a free, three-day, fine art festival showcasing approximately 140 juried artists from all across the United States and Canada. The artists display stunning works in a large variety of mediums, including painting, photography, jewelry, fiber, glass, wood and more for sale at the festival.
