Santana became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, Santana, which pioneered rock, salsa and jazz fusion. The band's sound featured his melodic, blues-based guitar lines set against Latin and African rhythms featuring percussion instruments such as timbales and congas not generally heard in rock music. Santana continued to work in these forms over the following decades. He will be performing 2 nights. 58th Annual Des Plaines River Canoe and Kayak Marathon
This is the second oldest continual canoe race in the United States. The race is 18½ miles on the beautiful and historic Des Plaines River. There are numerous classes to accommodate people of all ages and levels, with a new 5.25 mile Minithon, starts at the Potawatomie Woods in Wheeling, option possible for non-competitors seeking a shorter course that ends at the customary Finish Line. Note that while, as in the past, Marathon paddlers may still take out at the halfway point at Rivershire Park in Lincolnshire, you must now arrange your own car shuttle to or from this site! RiverWatch Volunteer Stream Monitoring Workshop
The Illinois RiverWatch Network is a statewide, non-profit, volunteer stream monitoring program. Volunteers are trained and certified as “Citizen Scientists” to monitor and protect a local stream. Upon completing training and becoming certified, volunteers adopt a stream site and examine indicators of water quality like stream habitat and the diversity of species such as dragonfly nymphs, beetle larva, midges, and snails. Citizen Scientists play an important role in helping identify potentially degraded waters and areas that may need better protection. University of St. Francis, 9am-4pm.

Waterfall & Canyon Tour
Experience the fun of outdoors adventure at Starved Rock State Park with a guided walk to 3 spectacular waterfalls and canyons. We will plan to visit French, St. Louis and Ottawa Canyons. The tour will also include hot lunch in Elements Dining Room and a relaxing trolley ride. The 11:00am tour begins with lunch in our dining room followed by the tour and the 9:00am tour will begin with the tour and conclude with lunch.
