Sycamore's Steam Show and Threshing Bee
For the last 57 years, the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club has sponsored the Sycamore Steam Show & Threshing Bee the second Thursday in August. The event starts at 6:00 a.m. with breakfast. The afternoon is filled with threshing of steam engines and tractors and spotlights a 1:30 p.m. parade of old steam engines, tractors, cars and other antique machines. Activities for kids, a petting zoo, bake sale and flea market all take place on the fairgrounds as well. Open daily 7:00am to 6:00pm. Free parking.
Sycamore Pumpkin Fest
2014 is the 53rd Annual Sycamore Pumpkin Festival. Back in 1956, Wally Thurow, who is known as Sycamore’s "Mr. Pumpkin", began what was to become the Sycamore Pumpkin Festival when he displayed a few decorated pumpkins on his front lawn to turn Halloween into a time of fun and creativity. In 1962, through the efforts of Mr. Pumpkin and the Sycamore Lions Club, the Sycamore Pumpkin Festival became an official celebration in Sycamore. The Courthouse lawn is the center of activities, including thousands of decorated pumpkins on display, there are also art and craft shows, a house walk, a pie eating contest, a carnival, a fun fair, a race and other events. The festival is concluded by a giant parade on Sunday afternoon.

Music of the River Cruise and Tour
C'mon aboard the Music of the River Cruise and Tour! Offered every Tuesday from June through September. Meet in Starved Rock Lodge's Great Hall for check in and to receive your boxed lunch. Then, board the trolley and travel a short distance to the Belle of the Rock, an authentic paddle wheel boat. Aboard the boat you will hear and enjoy the history of many river songs, such as Proud Mary, Gentle on My Mind, Alabama's Tennessee River and Credence Clearwater Revival's Green River. After the 1-½ hour lunch cruise you will re-board the trolley for a historic tour with stops at the State Park Visitor Center and the Illinois Waterway Visitor Center. Reservations required. Starved Rock Photography Club
Whether you are just beginning in photography, are an advanced amateur or a professional, you are welcome to the Starved Rock Photography Club. Monthly photography walks at Starved Rock State Park's Lodge with club leader, Jacki Pienta. The Photography Club will meet each month throughout the year for guided walks to planned sites for photography opportunities. Members will informally exchange ideas and tips for quality nature and wildlife photos. They will meet the 4th Saturday of every month at 9am in the back of the Large Parking lot at Starved Rock Lodge. All meetings will consist of a hike to an area of either Starved Rock State Park, Matthiessen State Park, or Buffalo Rock. Please be prepared to carpool if necessary. $25.00 Annual fee to join which will include a club t-shirt and an annual cook out!

From Patsy's first recordings in 1955 to her last in 1963, she covers her famous hits such as Crazy and Walking After Midnight. Grand Levee and Harvest Festival
The Grande Levee is a celebration of the grand receptions held during the 1800s to honor government dignitaries and important visitors. Friday evening the event kicks-off with a ham and bean dinner on the Vandalia Statehouse grounds along with musical entertainment. Saturday brings a day full of events at the Statehouse grounds for the Ground Levee. Des Plaines River Trail Marathon Races
Welcome to year five of the Des Plaines River Trail Half-Marathon, Marathon and 50 Mile Ultra Marathon along the beautiful and fast Des Plaines River Trail. This is a truly special running course. The DPR Trail is a wide, crushed gravel track, free of roots and rocks, and very flat. All of the major road crossings are managed by way of bridges or viaducts This is a great track through alternating lush forests and open wetlands. With cool temperatures expected, and given the flat terrain and ideal running surface, you'll find these to be extremely fast courses. Registration is open until it reaches full capacity or October 10th. Register early and save.

Holly Days, sponsored by the Warrenville Park District is the City's annual holiday celebration that marks Santa's official entry into Warrenville. Exhibits feature a variety of tools, flint points, weapons, pottery, copper implements and hundreds of other items used by Native Americans over a period of 14,000 years.
Lyon Farm Halloween Festival
Old-fashioned games, trick-or-treating, a costume parade, hayrides and prizes will be available at the two Halloween parties at the Lyon Farm. Families with children of all ages are welcome. Takes place on Sunday, October 19 and Sunday, October 26.

A traditional tree lighting ceremony, food, holiday fun activities, Santa’s workshop with a visit from Santa and to the end the evening - a holiday fireworks show.
64th Annual Jubilee Days Festival
This weekend long festival begins Saturday with the annual 5K run, and in the evening the Miss Zion Pageants followed by an ice cream social. Sunday's entertainment includes the Arts and Crafts Festival, food, live music and fireworks. Monday will include the Mayors Breakfast, and Arts and Crafts Festival, food and the Jubilee Parade at 1pm. The largest Lake County Labor Day parade.
21st Annual Potawatomi Trails Pow Wow
The Potawatomi Trails Pow-Wow is the only event of its kind in this area. This celebration of the Native-American heritage heightens the awareness of the history, traditions and customs of the heritage. Specific activities include demonstrations, music and dance presentations, educational sessions and a trader area.
