Self-guided interpretive tours are a screen tap away on your mobile device.

Walk in the footsteps of Eliza Steele, a journalist from New York who wrote about her first experience seeing a prairie in 1840. Experience heritage farmstead sites near the Iron Bridge Trailhead and hear descriptions, recorded in their voices, what life was like for people who lived on the farms on the prairie nearly 100 years ago. In one of the largest prairie plant seed production gardens in the world, study some of the 275 native Illinois prairie plants that are part of the restoration process at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie.
