Illinois’ premier National Scenic Byway, the Illinois Lincoln Highway.

Rediscover the charm of the American road trip on this famed highway. Today the historic Lincoln Highway route through Illinois is known as U.S. 30, Illinois Routes 31 and 38. As you venture out on this National Scenic Byway and explore all it has to offer, you will find something for everyone! Make plans for your getaway and find the perfect destinations along the route for; families, group tours, romantic couples, a girls’ getaway, outdoor enthusiasts, culture seekers, history buffs and more. Start with the Lincoln Highway interpretive display at the Phillips Park Visitors Center and Mastodon Gallery. Check out the gazebo there. Lunch at the historic Doggie Diner on Hill Avenue nearby. Stop in the see the infamous Two Brothers Roundhouse, known as one of Illinois' Delicious Destinations. Grab a foaming mug of rootbeer at our only A&W or a pastry from Harner's Bakery, both in North Aurora or grab any of 31 flavors at the Batavia Creamery. Head out to Esther's Place Fiber Arts Studio in Big Rock then watch the trains while dining at the famed Dairy Joy or South Moon BBQ, both in Hinckley. Visit all three gazebos and all three murals in the Aurora Area: Phillips Park, LaQuinta de los Reyes, North Aurora and Batavia. Classic Car shows at A&W. (Dotted along the 179-mile byway, you’ll find an unprecedented series of interpretive murals. Each artistically embodies the cultural heritage of the community where it is located and the legacy of the historic highway. Needless to say, taking a road trip to all or a couple makes for a nostalgic adventure.)
