Let's Play Ball - Chicago

Chicago is a major sports town, no doubt about it. And before the end of your visit, you may find that you’ve become a fan yourself! Catch a Chicago Cubs or White Sox baseball game, root for the Chicago Fire Soccer team and watch the Chicago Bears practice for their upcoming football season. Train just like the pros - shoot hoops at Niketown, race on your bike along the curves of Lake Michigan or play a game of miniature golf on the lakefront.

Day One

Chicago is lucky enough to have two big-name baseball teams. The Chicago Cubs play at Wrigley Field, where the old-fashioned scoreboard is still operated by hand. The World Champion Chicago White Sox play ball at U.S. Cellular Field, and shoot off fireworks every time they knock one out of the park. Pretend to be a pro and catch a fly ball at the White Sox exhibit at the Chicago History Museum. After you’ve worked up an appetite, eat a big Italian meal surrounded by Chicago Cubs memorabilia at Harry Caray’s or snack on sliders and play the coolest video sports games at ESPN Zone.

Day Two

Cheer on the Chicago Fire Soccer team during one of their fast-moving matches at Toyota Park. Putt along the lakefront at the Diversey Miniature Golf Course, which offers 18 holes complete with waterfalls and footbridges, right in Lincoln Park. Stop by Niketown to test-drive a new pair of sneakers on the store’s indoor basketball half-court and watch videos featuring basketball legends like Chicago's own Michael Jordan. Jam to cool tunes while you eat at Hard Rock Cafe or chow down a true Chicago-style hot dog at Hot Doug's.

Day Three

It may be summer, but the Chicago Bears football team is already training hard at the Staples Bears Training Camp. For three select weeks families are welcome to watch the Monsters of the Midway practice for the upcoming season, get coached on basic football skills and even get autographs from the players. During Chicago Sun-Times Family Night in August you can see the Bears practice at Soldier Field, play on inflatable games, listen to live music and watch a spectacular fireworks show. Train like the Bears and race your bike along the Lakefront Trail on a guided tour with Bike Chicago. Eat and play games at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company along the water at Navy Pier or tackle a huge slice of stuffed pizza at Giordano's.
