The City of Aurora and Zagster, Inc. launched a new bike-share program that will provide Aurora visitors with a convenient, affordable and healthy way to get around town. 18 cruiser bikes are available at three downtown stations for riders to use for on-demand, local trips. Stations are located at RiverEdge Park - 360 Broadway Ave., Aurora City Hall - 44 E. Downer Place and Santori Public Library of Aurora - 101 S. River Street. This initiative creates new opportunities for visitors to experience the Aurora Area from a different vantage point and see it in a whole new light.

The McCully Heritage Project is a natural area made up of 940 acres of hills and hollows in Calhoun County, Illinois. The project offers 15 miles of hiking and horse back riding trails, two ponds for fishing and turtle watching, a wetland with a boardwalk, a hill prairie plot and more. Hiking is pleasant even in the summer as the wooded trails provide plenty of shade. Facilities are available for group activities, large and small. The focus of the McCully Heritage Project is upon cultural and environmental enjoyment, education, and preservation. The general public is welcome to hike, picnic, bird watch, and enjoy the natural beauty of the site. The McCully Heritage Project is located about 1 mile south of Kampsville, Illinois, off of Illinois Route 100. Take Crawford Creek Road west about 1/2 mile to MHP.
The newest addition to Forsyth Park is an 18-hole Disc Golf Course. The Forsyth Park Disc Golf Course has been designed to allow anyone from beginning players to experienced players to have a good time. The Course provides players with 5 alternate holes for those players with a more advanced skill level and also includes an alternate tee box for hole 13 for those players unsure of playing around the pond in Forsyth Park.
Yak Shack makes paddling possible. It doesn't matter if you're a beginner looking for lessons or an expert looking to gear up, they've got what you need to get on the water! Self Guided trips are available for those interested in a calmer recreational paddle. Canoes, recreational kayaks and tube tracker inflatables can be rented for use within the course. Sugar Grove Nature Center is located in beautiful, historic Funks Grove among over 1,000 acres of forest and prairie. Funks Grove is the largest remaining intact prairie grove in the state of Illinois and is a designated National Natural Landmark. Visitors will enjoy interpretive exhibits, live animals and a wildlife viewing room as well as access to 5 miles of hiking trails. The Imagination Grove Nature Play Area welcomes children to explore, tromp in the creek, climb a tree, ride a zip line and more. A picnic shelter, astronomy observatory, blacksmith forge, corn crib prairie lookout, variety of gardens and many other features help to make Sugar Grove Nature Center a beautiful and unique place. TreeHouse Wildlife Center is a non-profit wildlife rehabilitation center dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of native injured and orphaned wildlife. Located on approximately eight serene and beautiful acres, it's the ideal environment for injured or orphaned animals who need time to recuperate. Visitors are welcome to come out for a self guided tour of the outdoor cages at our Dow facility. Guided tours also available. We are open from 10am - 3pm everday.

The 24,000 square foot clubhouse features a beautiful restaurant and bar that seats 100 people, with a balcony that overlooks the front nine. The lower level of the clubhouse features the 19th Hole with a private bar, and seating for up to 50. The Edward F.Vassallo Land and Water Reserve is a privately owned reserve located adjacent to White Pines State Forest. It was designated in 2014 as a state Land & Water Reserve by the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission and includes 130 acres of native wildflowers, plants, grasses, creek bottom, habitat for native wildlife, birds and insects and forest areas. Spring Creek, a tributary of Pine Creek, flows through the reserve. Today and forever, this land will remain in its natural condition as part of the Illinois Nature Preserve System and is a gift to present and future generations as a place where native plants and animals can thrive under wise stewardship and protection from harm. No motorized vehicles allowed. Nature lovers are welcome and walking paths can be accessed by calling contact number.
The Nature Institute is a non-profit land conservation and environmental education organization based in Godfrey, IL. Since its founding in 1980, The Nature Institute's board and staff have worked to foster an awareness and appreciation of the natural world through preservation, restoration, and education. The Nature Institute also owns and manages over 450 acres of protected land, such as the Olin Nature Preserve, the Mississippi Sanctuary, the Kemp and Cora Hutchinson Bird Sanctuary, and the Heartland Prairie Project at Gordon Moore Park. These natural areas provide unique places for the public to experience the diversity of the Riverbend area with its hardwood forests, prairies and wetlands. The preserves are open to the public and free to use from dawn to dusk.
