Pyramid State Park
Pyramid State Recreation Area consists of heavily forested hills and many lakes and ponds. Total overall acreage is 19,701, making Pyramid the largest State Recreation Area in Illinois. It gets its name from a coal mine that once existed here. Many species of wildlife may be found in the area, including songbirds, deer, squirrels, beavers, rabbits, turkey, bobcat, raccoons, possums, coyotes, weasel, mink, woodchucks and waterfowl. Tent and trailer camping are permitted at designated camping areas only. There are 16.5 miles of foot and horse trails and mountain bike riding. Canoeing is popular because of the rough terrain, and boats with 10-hp motors or less are allowed.
Governors Run Golf and Country Club
This championship 18-hole course has 13 lakes scattered throughout the par 72 layout. It boasts five sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels on exquisitely manicured greens.

The World Shooting & Recreational Complex was designed for shooters, built for recreation. The complex has 120 trap houses stretching 3.5 miles, 2 sporting clays courses, 24 combination trap/skeet fields, and cowboy action shooting. The complex has 7,000 square foot event center, conference rooms, restaurant, gift shop, 1,001 campsites, multiple fishing lakes, and much more!
The park is open for boating and fishing year round and hosts a major drag boat racing event each year.
